All of the big Web presences have been moving into the hardware space. All of them have large amounts of cash. And I expect they will tire of Intel's near-monopoly on power-efficient server processors before too long.
Motley Fool has some estimates of the per-chip fab cost of the GP104 (GTX 1080/1070) and GP106 (GTX 1060) chips. The methodology looks reasonable.
It's just based on what TSMC charges NVidia, and does not include test and packaging costs. Nor does it include the cost of developing the chips...
