    Replace Fortigate 311B cluster with?

Thanks all, does anyone know whether Fortigte will release a kind of 800D or something like that in 2015? Does a kind of roadmap for new hardware exist?

    Replace Fortigate 311B cluster with?

Well, I once started with active-passice. The reason for "active-active" is for share the load for IPS to both units. Usually I do firmware upgrades when load is low. But I have to agree with you, in high load situation I´d probably get trouble when one of the units breaks away. So 800C would...

    Replace Fortigate 311B cluster with?

Hi, in ~9 months our support for our 2x 2x Fortigate 311B cluster will end. We use IPS a lot but that (active-active) cluster doesn´t offer any real possibility to upgrade the devices themselves. So, what would you suggest? needs: - more IPS throughput which will easily last for the next...

    Layer 3 switch needed

Hint: 2910AL and 3500yl need additional modules, before you can actually put in your SFP+ optice/cable or RJ45 cable for 10GbE. Those are rather expensive.

Nutanix vs VSAN vs EVO: RAIL

Two weeks ago one of our partners visited us and told us some horror stories/propaganda, but make perfect sense. Vendors start using cheap hardware for their SANs and if it fails they can replace it for cheap. Let´s look at the different SSDs: - Samsung SSD 840 EVO 1TB with a TBW of ~74TB + 3...

Nutanix vs VSAN vs EVO: RAIL

Well, they say that they are best(?) for VDI because of their optimization software doing 99% from SSD cache. Enterprise? Of course supermicro is enterprise hardware, of course mentioned Sandisk´s SSD is enterprise and of course the 2 in 1 box with Windows Server 2012 R2 is enterprise and of...

Nutanix vs VSAN vs EVO: RAIL

1x Tintri T620 with 5 years of service ~75000,-$ including taxes For less money I can build myself a SAN/NAS with the same capacitiy but with full SAS SSD equipped, e.g. http://www.supermicro.com/products/nfo/CiB.cfm => Take enterprise SSDs instead of the HDDs, e.g. SanDisk Optimus Eco 2TB. Why...

Tintri VM-aware storage, anyone have experience?

Back to topic. T520 is built opon Supermicro hardware. What about T600? I cannot find any Supermicro SBB with that amount of harddrive slots builtin...

Tintri VM-aware storage, anyone have experience?

The problem with Tintri is its price. Did you look at that T520? For the price I can built myself a full SSD supermicro box with the same capacity (with some nice Seagate 1200 SAS 800GB), add Windows Server 2012 R2, FreeBSD, whatever and still have some money left. Then I do not need this...

Tintri VM-aware storage, anyone have experience?

So, Tintri is nothing more than a Supermicro server "Super Storage Bridge Bay (SBB)" (with some Linux? and a webgui onboard): Tintri unboxed: http://www.vhipster.com/2014/03/26/tintri-lab-setup-part-1/ I´d be interested in the filesystem being used...

    Looking for new core switch

Which layer 3 features do you need? (Just take a look at the headlines given on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_stackable_switches) I myself like the HP 5800AF-48G Switch (JG225A): 48x 1GbE@RJ45, 6x 10GbE@SFP+, 2 redundant power supplies, 2 fan modules, and real HP lifetime warranty...

    re-visit network monitoring

PRTG is nice. I use the free version for bandwith + sflow monitoring my two ISP uplinks. But pricing for a high amount of sensors is too expensive. We currently have an old HP NMS, but I wont´t recommend it at all. NOC view + helpdesk integration + AD authentication, that would be also...

    struggling with Supermicro mainboards

Hi, I´m currently planning for a new VMware virtual san built with Supermicro´s SC216 chassis. I´d like to put in SATA3 drives in JBOD mode and therefore I´m asking myself which parts I actual need to get it running (unfortunately Supermicro´s configurator is for reseller only...) I have...

Need new switch for home use

The Zyxel is cheap as hell: www.hotukdeals.com/deals/zyxel-gs1910-24-port-gigabit-managed-switch-from-ebuyer-89-99-1536924 Update: Sorry too late. Just found some propaganda on the zyxel homepage: http://www.zyxel.kr/support/matrix/gs1910-24hp.zip. Take a look at the Excelsheet.

Need new switch for home use

Especially the HP 1810, may it also be the V2, is somehow disappointing if you compare it to other fanless switches: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_fanless_layer_2_switches

    Slow Multicasting on Cisco 3560G

Hi, having the same problem. Great unicast performance, bad multicast with Cisco 3560X switches. According some other forums, jumbo frames should be activated to get much better performance. (Would be my next step...) Have your problems ever been resolved?
