Anyone know if this is coming back up on Steam? Seems weird to take it off Steam when the whole point was that they didn't have enough customers, so they make it F2P and then take it off the biggest digital download service around?

Exactly. What you are saying is from someone who presumably is a very knowledgeable gamer (given the fact that you are posting here) and understands these things well. There's probably a large number of PC gamers (maybe the majority) out there who don't know or even care about Steam v. Origin...

Your contention is that there would be no new sales if BF3 popped up on Steam today? Seems like a dubious proposition at best. Certainly wasn't the case when they released Baldur's Gate on Steam and that was available elsewhere. The platform matters more to some than it does to others...

For whatever quest you are trying to do, make sure you have the right type of ship. As the Argon Peacekeeper, you start off with a fighter, so I would recommend that start to keep it simple.

One thing I forgot to mention... another tip: Ships have specific functions (e.g. transports, explorers, fighters, etc), so make sure you have the right type of ship for the quest you want to do. Easy way to get frustrated is to try to fight without a military ship of some kind.

Yes, I clearly should have added Games for Windows Live. I don't like EA/Origin for various reasons, but at least it works most of the time. GfWL is an abomination that should just be wiped off the face of the earth. Luckily, it seems to be getting much less prevalent as time goes on.
