Now that the 770 is out and priced accordingly, its easy to recommend a 7950 if u can get it for around 260-270 after rebates. Just think of the bundled games as extra bonus.
I would say 670....maybe get another 670 if necessary later on
sli is better than xfire right now...
you can also see if there is a 670 variant of NVidia 7 series coming soon...
It works both ways. I do agree rmaing a card for the sole purpose of bad overclocks isn't very valid. But I do understand someone's frustration when they get a card that is unable to overclock like similar cards. Sometimes u win, sometimes u lose...such is life!
I don't crossfire, so that's probably why it doesn't affect me. I have one 7950(1150/1500) and don't see any of the problems mentioned. I'm gaming on a 30 inch 2560 x 1600 monitor.
I have a 7950 pushing 2 x 30 inch monitors plus a 50 inch 1080p tv. Haven't had any problems with any games yet, although I've only really game on 1 monitor. I oc'd my card to 1150 core and 1500 mem. I guess that helps quite a bit. If you keep an eye out, a 7950 oc can be had for around 260-270...
I have a 7950 overclocked to 1150/1500 super stable, haven't tried to go any higher because I'm quite satisfied already.
The 7950 should be compared to the 670, 660ti vs the 7870.
