Hi,
My new server running server 2012 R2 just had a kernel panic and it now shows my array as unallocated.
Is there a way to bring it back?
I have backups but it would take a long time to copy the data back over.
I'm running a RAID-60 Array on a LSI MegaRAID SAS 9286-8e + BBU with 32...
Hello,
At the moment I have a Norcotek RPC4220 with some 2 and 4TB hardrives connected to a IBM M1015 and a HPT Rocket Raid 2680 running on FlexRaid.
This setup runs just fine but the problem is that I'm running out of space.
I also have a HP DL320S and my plan is to buy a LSI SAS 9207-4i4e...
solved.
sadly i really don't know what cause the problem or what fixed it.
i can however say what i changed so maybe if someone has the same problem they can try it:
i remade the usb,
i put the files in the root dir on the usb,
i put the adaptert in the first pci slot,
i used a diff usb sick...
my card came with a small chip on the HS1 2pin header pn:l3-25150-00b (licence card or something)
ill now test without the card, ill post back in a few minutes.
:edit:
no luck same error as in the post above.
Im trying to flash my new 1015 to IT mode.
I made a dos usb stick with the data on it.
I followed the tutorials as far as the commands go but I have a problem when is type the first command:
dos log:
C:\>cd c:\sas2008
C:\SAS2008>megarec -writesbr 0 sbrempty.bin
DOS/31A -- Protected...
i decided to go for the RPC-4220, im hoping to start building the server this weekend.
i have been playing with flex raid in a vm, i added 8 RDU's and 2 PPU's in the cruise controll setup.
is it correct that it will fill up the driver one by one, while still having parity on the PPU drives...
oke i im doing that right now (headserver downloads and puts finished files on the data server) ill buy a extra 3tb or 4tb drive to put in the dataserver for active date (up/down load)
ill probably buy it within a 2 weeks just need to look around the forums for nice ways to mount non hotswap...
I would like to come back at the cloud storage thing, if you dont mind.
At the moment i have all my data (10tb) backed up to the cloud.
The service i use is clouddrive.nl (witch is a dutch provider for livedrive)
For just 4 euro per month im getting unlimited storage on a unlimited amount of...
oke thank you for the quick answers :)
But just one more question, i think you already covered it but i just want to be sure: If i re-install the OS but leave all the flexraid drives untouched, will flex raid recognize it again?
Also, I know xeon is recommended but for now i want to go with...
i think you changed my mind :)
so flex raid is roughly the same as you would have drive pools in the old WHS then, cool :)
Now besides the hp server i also have QC amd home build server that i wanted to get rid of but ill probably buy a new motherboard and 32gb ram for it and put in 2 IBM...
@hikarul,
thank you for the advise, ill start looking into witch one of there options is best for me, both practical and financially (remember i already have a DL140G3)
one question though, i take it something like flexraid supports OCE and a raid 6 equivalent?
and what kind of speeds...
i already know what parts ill be using, but i would like to know the best way to have 2 systems power on at the same time?
here is the scenario:
a hp server with a raid-card, this raid-card is connected to a expander witch is in system 2 (norco 4224)
system 2 has a small atom based board...
I changed my mind. the 2 internal drives will run of the simple pci-x sas raid card thats already in the server.
so that leaves 1 high profile pci-e x16 for the SFF-8088 raid card witch will connect to the expander.
The card will need the following:
-1x SFF-8088 connection (or more)
-raid 6...
The battery is there to keep the data on the cache in-case of a power outage.
So if you plan on using write-back cache and you want to be as safe as can be then i would recommend the battery.
You will also need the battery and cache for the following functions:
- Online Capacity Expansion...
i decided not to go for the super mirco JBOD case.
im probably getting the following
-HP Expander
-Norco RPC 4224
as far at the raid-card goes im still not sure, atm im looking at these 2:
-HP P212 w/256mb and Battery (price is good should be compatible but im not sure about the speed)
or...
initially i wanted to go for a norco 24 drive case (500) and then a expander (350??)
so that would be 1000 with a power supply.
the $1500 price would be 1180 so it looks like nice choise, considering this will give me 4 more drives.
so ill look into places to buy it in my country...
Hello,
At the moment i have a homemade server with a RocketRAID 2680 card and 8x 2TB Hitachi HDS5C3020ALA632.
this setup is running on raid 5 from the high point rocked raid 2680.
I am however running out of space, so here is my plan:
I have a DL140G3 (dual xeon quad) with 12gb ram...
hi there,
my dad seems to have a very weird problem with windows photo viewer:
CLICK HERE FOR EXPLANATORY PHOTO (imageshack)
as you can see the picture inside the photo viewer looks fine on the left screen.
but the part that's on the right is very orange. but the picture in the...
I'm not familiar with that (i don't study IT, just a hobby)
The goal is/was to have a connection (preferably greater then 1GB/s) between 2 switches.
And have to ability to use VLAN though both switches.
Fail-over/redundancy is not the goal here.
Just improved bandwidth and easy VLAN...
after spending some time looking at SNMP, it seems the 2 lines are both active, one is up-link other is down-link, im happy with this.
no ports are completely blocked.
i am going to try it when i get home but im not sure if there is a CLI or console for the switch, in none of the documentation could i find anything about it.
ill look again when i get home.
EDIT:
it seems to support SNMP (read only) ill see what i can do with that.
Im sorry, i know that's extremely frustrating, but i just couldn't help myself laughing when i red that.
What did the boss say after you taught him "networking lesson #1 local host" ?
Im a bit of a noob with networking (just a hobby) and i don't know how to run a spanning tree command :(
What i can tell you though is that all the ports a sending/receiving packets at the same rate on both switches, so data i flowing through both line.
But im not sure if that if that would...
Currently, i am not running any VLANS, but i am planing to do so in the future.
hence is why i choose for a trunk instead of a simple link aggr.
And yes i meant more bandwidth between the switches, the current bandwidth was insufficient..
Anyway, thank you very much for your help, the trunk...
Hello there,
Recently I bought a HP procurve 1810-8G to go with my HP procurve 1810-24G.
The idea is simple the 1810-8G is on the ground level next to my router. and the 1810-24G is in the basement next to the servers.
I have 2 CAT6A cables connecting the switches.
First I tried it without...
