Macbook Pro - 2007 - Problem seeing USB as drive

Hey guys, I have a Macbook pro 2007 that i've swapped the harddrive for a SSD (C4 M4 from crucial) I cloned to a new SSD the C4, swapped it out of my desktop and put it in the MBP. The MBP sees the drive, but when I'm trying to create a bootable USB with either Yosemite or El Capitan, the MBP...

Issue: desk clamp for thick desk

Mr Coffee Would something like this work? Metal Framing Single Slotted I also realized my desk is empty (not flat at the bottom), so I will have to add a 3 or 4X6 lumber cut it to 5" so I can tie the clamp on it BTW 2 thumbs up for the drawings! :D

Issue: desk clamp for thick desk

Yea the 2 solutions i thought of, instead of making a full new piece was C-Clamp style Or Do a metal extension to the piece with 6 holes, 4 that will be screwed in the first part for added solidity and the last will the where the piece will be screwed it to be able to clamp

Issue: desk clamp for thick desk

Hey guys, I purchased an Ergotron 45-245-026 LX Dual Monitor Arm, Side-by-Side for my future desk as I wanted to mount my monitors onto arms. I eventually found a nice desk, but the desk is 5" thick and the mount supports up to 2.6" (or 3.3" with a hack) in thickness. What do you guys...

    Propose me a motherboard (LG1150)

I live in Canada so no. But will order all parts online. There's a chance overclocking may occur down the road. However probably not at first. The computer will be built with the mind that if my buddy wants to overclock, he will be able to do so (reasonably of course)

    ESXi - Virtual Machine backup

Hello, n00b question here. I'm using ESXi 5U1, and since I need pass from a raid 1 to a raid 5, I need to back up, clear the raid and recreate it. Now I cloned the RAID to another hard disk, but obviously it won't run because the drivers installed are for the raid. So I want to backup my...

    ESXi 5 + PERC 6/i +backup

    ESXi 5 + PERC 6/i +backup

Hey guys, I'm trying to clone my RAID 1 ESXi 5 install from my perc 6/i (1TB) to a 3TB HD. The reason being I added 2 more drives to my raid, and I'd like to backup the system as is and restore it once the RAID 5 has been created and is functional. I have connected the 3TB to the...

New NAS - Synology Owners Advice needed!

Hey guys, So I'm considering getting myself a NAS from Synology. I'm looking for a 4bay NAS but I'm a bit confused on the models and would like your input. What I will do with the NAS is mostly backup and streaming and potentially have some VM's on it that will go on VMWare. To start...

    2 X RAID 0 SSD or 1 X SSD

Guys Hard Drive backup Question, im using Acronis

This is wrong... what if he has a windows partition the drive? All the MBR and stuff won't be copied so it's not a "plug and play solution" You can use Norton Ghost or Acronis to make a 1 to 1 Full Disk copy. Make sure afterwards that the SSD is aligned

    2 X RAID 0 SSD or 1 X SSD

I'm confused on all those 240gb SSD drives right now. Why are some 260ish while others are 350-380? I have an OCZ VERTEX 2 120gb right now. I was thinking of going VERTEX 3, but i heard people were not AS pleased with it than with past products. What is you guys view on this?

    2 X RAID 0 SSD or 1 X SSD

Hey guys, So I realized probably like some of you guys, that 1 SSD of 120gb for an OS drive is too small... Now I want to double that. I'm considering going 2 X 120gb SSD RAID 0. Is this too dangerous or should I just buy 1 X 240gb SSD drive?

Migrating from RAID 0 to RAID 5 (Dell PERC 6/i)

Hi guys, I recently bought a PERC 6/i off of eBay not long ago, with the BBU. Everything works great. I currently have 2 drives in there. I would want to perhaps add 2 more. The setup is currently a RAID 0 and the computer is running VMWare ESXi 5. How can I migrate to a RAID 5...

To NAS now or not to NAS now (basically NAS later)

What's up guys?! So I'm looking at getting a Synology DS411+II (it is on special now). But you can't just get an empty NAS right? You need to get HD's with it. So I was planning on getting some 3TB Hitachi's. I was wondering since the prices are high, if I should wait maybe more until...

    VPN - PPTP problem

So what are you proposing? That I add a static route in the VPN server? i.e. that I reserve a block of IP's on the same subnet that the VPN server will assign to the VPN client? I was following this tutorial to set the VPN up BTW i'm using the modem/router that my ISP gave me. As such, I...

    VPN - PPTP problem

Yea athlon... Well for the sake of the real example, my LAN is 10.10.0.X So, when a VPN client is connected, he would get a 10.10.0.X IP too no? I thought the DHCP server the VPN server was on (basically my router at that point that acts as a DHCP server) would assign the VPN clients an IP...

    VPN - PPTP problem

Well it's very easy, the modem I have (2wire) isn't allowing the GRE protocol to go through thus data can't go. SSTP would be the the next alternative, but I only have 1 IP and i'm already using 443 for HTTPS.... L2TP over IPSec would then be the next choice... now to find a decent how to...
