My electricity bill usually is around $950+ with my G34 running 24/7. This is indeed a very expensive hobby :(
I received this letter from my utility company some time ago, advising me about my electricity usage....
New updates:
I managed to reinstall everything on my harddrive, starting from Ubuntu, FAH, TPC, etc. (Thanks to the holy grail of folding guide in Linux, a clean install will definitely eliminate the lagging issue once and for all.).
Plus, I also install an additional fan on top of the NB/SB...
This is indeed the holy grail of folding guide in Linux.
I come across this comment from another folding forum. Is it correct that with v6.34 there is a downtime in between finishing a WU and crunching on the next one?
Thanks for the suggestions, guys.
New updates:
1/ Just before I was about to test the rig as per tear's suggestion, the rig crashed again, this time it crashed running at stock speed. Same things happen: the whole machine is still powered on, fans still blew air (not-so-hot air), but the video...
Yes, the CPU temp after turbo varies between 40-50 max. The NB temp may reach up to 60-70. The temp reading is obtained from lm-sensors.
There is no fixed time lapse before the crash, it just happens at a random time period.
I am using Corsair AX1200 PSU, if that's what you want to know. How...
Hey guys,
I encountered another issue with my 4P during folding session with turbo on.
I use 4 6386SE (ES) chips in my rig with v6.34 client in Ubuntu. The rig seems to fold fine without any issue in stock speed. However, when the turbo mode is on (tpc -psmax 1), the rig will randomly...
Hey guys, I noticed my folder tend to drag when it comes to uploading the WU. See the log below:
There is an unusually long lag between finishing the core to 100% and shutting down core (it took more than an hour during these two processes).
Do you know if this is something that can be...
Is sudo ln -sf /usr/bin/TurionPowerControl /usr/bin/tpc still relevant in v0.44? I noticed in the history log, the compiled application has now included tpc for convenience.
Nah, thanks for that. I've got it installed here (thanks to you how-to).
I am having difficulty to add HFM as a launcher. Any idea on how to do that? Or is there any quick way where I can start HFM without having to "Ctrl-Alt-T > sudo mono HFM.exe"?
So I am into folding with Linux recently using Ubuntu 10.10.
Is Ubuntu 12.04 any better than Ubuntu 10.10? I am using 6.34 client at the moment with Ubuntu 10.10 and would like to know if it's worthy to switch to 12.04, PPD-wise of course :D
Also, does the Kraken have anything to do with...
I had a similar issue as bowlinra with the following error:
I have tried to install ncurses-dev, but it gives me this message:
Any ideas what else I should try to get around this?
It all boils down to these factors:
- Memory size
- Memory bandwidth
- Real-world performance
- Power usage
- Price
All in all, it's a very detailed review. Thanks a bunch!
