Do you have the X3? From what I've read online, you do need the Creative drivers if you want surround sound. Else, Windows stock driver limits it to stereo only.

To the OP/TS,
You don't want intermediary device but want something that can drive 5.1 speakers. Well, the...
If you can get a GT710 for $20, it will be great as a backup card. My backup card is a GT440 which I've bought for $15. But I do worry that newer platform requires UEFI capable graphics card.
We know scalpers are everywhere right now. Is the price of DDR3 and DDR4 ram sticks gonna increase much? Is there a trend of price increase? How about SSD?
Kindly share your market watch at your area.
For the sake of humanity, it's better to let the older and cheaper build to the folks who really have a need for it. With the current pandemic, parts availability is getting worse, on top of the stupidly high price for everything, including old parts.
Different sound card? No. Different processing? Yes. My ASRock front audio headers are "amped" for headset. I can't plug my headset on the rear IO as the volume will be too low (it's meant for a desktop speaker).
Played Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice recently on my 5.0 setup. I'm glad that Garm boss fight is made a lot easier with surround sound as one needs to find the direction in the dark.
Bought 3 pairs of JBL104 for a 5.0 setup with my motherboard Realtek audio. Here are my disappointment:
- As I don't have a subwoofer, LFE (.1) signal in 5.1 is not delivered to the main speakers (despite unchecking the optional subwoofer option in Windows). LFE is totally lost.
- Surround sound...
I've been waiting for a good monitor that can deliver uber black. I mainly play single player games. Just like many movies, most of the great scenes or stories happen in the dark. I can't believe how that is still a niche market in 2020. I guess I have to wait for another decade for OLED in...
In Win10 Power Option, my PC set to Performance Mode. It hovers at 3.5GHz - 3.6GHz all the time. Could this be related? Do you guys actually use the Balanced power option?
Based on the OCCT screenshot, the frequency stays constant. No sign of thermal throttling.
It's just for basic Microsoft Office jobs, web surfing and online videos.
50°c while watching 720p YouTube video in Firefox.
Went to BIOS and set the CPU fan speed to full (HWiNFO shows 2000rpm). Surprisingly, it's still pretty quiet. It's now 44°c while YouTube.
I'm upgrading from intel Pentium G3240 (53W TDP) to i5 4570 (84W TDP), yet maintaining that same thin intel Pentium stock cooler (no copper core). Should I be worried about heat dissipation? Tuniq TX2 thermal paste applied is pea sized. When idling, HWiNFO64 shows CPU package 48°c, motherboard...
I've read somewhere that the headphone output of Focusrite Scarlette Solo isn't really that clean. On the other hand, a budget Behringer UMC202HD could be better?
I'm just about to build a rig out of old parts for my mom. intel i5 4570, H81 mobo and 8GB DDR3. I'm still deciding on the GPU. I'm still deciding if I should buy a cheap and used AMD RX550 just for basic graphics processing, or just stick to onboard intel graphics. I do have an NVIDIA GT440...
To make things worse, every phone manufacturers have their own damn designs of USB-C with various charging capabilities. To make shit worse, most come in USB2.0 data transfer speed except those top end phones. Cream of crop: with or without audio DAC.
The reason I have adblock is because I don't have a fast internet. On top of that, I'm living on capped internet. Most ads gobble up more data (those extremely annoying gif/animated ads) than the actual content of the website.
