ASUS Z87 Motherboards - Overview, Guides and Official Support

Question for anyone, is there any way to check volts on the Z87-pro board? I know there are no "points" but is there a way?

    Intel Z97, what's the point?

ASUS Z97 Motherboards - Official Support Thread

Really wish there was a simple explanation same as Z78. Anyhow, question for Z97. Hero I believe comes with M2 PCIe connector? If I were to connect this to the PCIe3 x4, will this drop my GPU to x8 or will it remain x16? Do they share bandwidth?

ASUS Z97 Motherboards - Official Support Thread

Doubt that, hence my query. Secondly, we're not talking VID here. That's what you set in BIOS and vcore is what your cores are actually using. ie: running Adaptive on a Z87 is completely useless unless you can show otherwise.

ASUS Z97 Motherboards - Official Support Thread

Curious about this as mentioned, on the Z87 boards you simply used Manual and used C states which allowed all the downclock/volt needed. Adaptive is a useless mode on the Z87 boards. So Z97 boards don't behave this way anymore?

GIGABYTE 9 Series Overclocking Motherboards Set 9 World Records

I don't know why everyone posts this, the people who did it are sponsored by Giga so this is pure marketing, nothing more. Every post related to this is free marketing. No other manufacturer have pulled their OCers in and said, go crazy for 7 days and beat some old benchmarks.

ASUS Z87 Motherboards - Overview, Guides and Official Support

If you're not finding conflicting information you're not visiting enough forums. Everyone has a different opinion. Some base it on what you've stated others see it as I believe (hope) is the case. Or rather maybe if you know, why wouldn't they work? Either way, I'm waiting for Raja to advise...

ASUS Z87 Motherboards - Overview, Guides and Official Support

There's so much conflicting information out there.. Raja, could you advise if the up-coming Haswell Refresh (the K series/sku whatever) works on our Z87 boards? From the BIOS: Support New 4th-Generation Intel Core Processors Hoping you know either way and lay rest to the confusion?

I REALLY wish Fan Xpert was a separate product with no need for AI SUITE itself.

questions for Asus Z87 pro, Hero, and Sabertooth

You need someone with Hero to help you more. On your first post you said 40%. On my board you can only set it to 60% to 100% if you want to manually set a % value. Silent on the other hand is less than that 60%. ROG boards don't have anything clocked higher by default, well it'd be news to...

questions for Asus Z87 pro, Hero, and Sabertooth

Grab the hero, set fans to Silent in BIOS and buy good, silent fans. Problem solved... I don't use AI SUITE and am satisfied with the noise the Silent mode gives.
  12. E

questions for Asus Z87 pro, Hero, and Sabertooth

On my board the min % is 60%. However, I don't run in manual mode. Instead I have it on Silent. When I compare the fan-speed between Silent and manual 60%.. Silent is way less. It'll of course depend on your fans but for reference my differences were 1300 (60%) vs. 1160 (Silent). I...

Tools to flash and recover BIOS on ASUS P8xxx boards (FD44Editor, FTK)

Thanks I did find this post. http://www.win-raid.com/t171f39-Intel-Management-Engine-Drivers-Firmware-and-Tools-14.html#msg5216 Doesn't go into details beyond mentioning FTK but supposedly he was able to remove the lock. He appears to have Q87. Update: removed header from a BIOS file...

Tools to flash and recover BIOS on ASUS P8xxx boards (FD44Editor, FTK)

Guys, is the ME protected on the Haswell boards (see sig)? Small problem. The ME firmware 9.1.1 and 9.1.2 force BCLK to 99.8 and it won't change. Minor annoyance as I don't use it but it's a problem. Obviously cannot roll back to 9.0.x using the update tool so figured I'll use FTK...

If you go to the Russian overclocking site as per 1st page of this thread.. then goto the last page of that Russian overclocking thread, you'll see a link to the DOS version of FTK. This is the link provided there. http://rghost.ru/53591556 Search it first yourself and decide if that's...

Raja.. could you advise what this is? BIOS updater for New 4th Gen Intel Core Processors If I see the files right, all it does is "update" ME firmware but has nothing to do with actual BIOS beyond that?

No they don't.. under normal behaviour this is not expected (after BIOS update it will do it, but that's not normal circumstance). Thanks, just wanted to check. Now, I do have a follow-up question that I hope you or someone else can advise on. There are 2 voltages that don't match what I...

ASUS Z87 Motherboards - Overview, Guides and Official Support

Might as well ask.. I always use BIOS backflash method, even with new BIOS as it the safest (computer off etc). However, are there any negatives with doing it this way (such as possibly not updating ME if there's an update or something else)?

ASUS Z87 Motherboards - Overview, Guides and Official Support

As you can't get to your computer or it's BIOS, you need to do the USB flashback. For that to work, you need it to recognise the file name. For Z87 Pro you need the file to be named: Z87P.CAP Read the manual for the process, once it's close to completion the LED blinks faster and once it...

ASUS Z87 Motherboards - Overview, Guides and Official Support

lol. I think part of the problem is that there are so many things, little things, that don't affect users 99% of the time which they fix here and there. Listing those would make no sense again to 99% of people. Of course they could meet us half-way and say something about the module they...

Also both ROM and the files for RST 13.x are out so you could try updating to those also, see if that solves your problems. 1707 BIOS doesn't use 13.x OROM.

Try the latest BIOS update that's out, it doesn't tell us anything worthwhile in the release notes but that's usual. Really wish they'd fix that part.

ASUS Z87 Motherboards - Overview, Guides and Official Support

Got another bug on my system, easy to replicate if it's around or not. Using Manual mode and C3 enabled, sleep fails to function. If you manually do it, it works fine but it won't "engage" via the power plan. Changing over to Adaptive, it works as expected and goes to sleep at the defined...

ASUS Z87 Motherboards - Overview, Guides and Official Support

You can only uninstall the GUI but that won't help, you're still left with the driver. You can use the older driver/GUI 12.0.x something, I didn't have this problem with that but starting 12.5.x it appears.

That's what you get for talking 1st line monkey's. If they actually knew their own product they'd see what it install automatically on a clean-install running RAIDx and it isn't 12.8.

ASUS Z87 Motherboards - Overview, Guides and Official Support

Did you try what we discussed previously; using older driver? You can tell Intel that you're not the only one.. there's quite a few of us who have/had that problem. Like I said, I had to move mine to the Asmedia ports to solve that issue, you can't of course due to RAID1 atm. Also, do you...

Have a weird problem, started today. Twice now my computer has shut-down and upon reboot and I'm greeted with ASUS anti-surge protection message saying it detected problem in the last power-on with regards to the PSU. But this is long time since the last power-on. What is the anti-surge...

ASUS Z87 Motherboards - Overview, Guides and Official Support

Good to hear. I'm having some good results here myself at the moment. Since I moved the 2 HDDs to the Asmedia ports without installing SW for them, I can now shutdown the computer without the HDDs spinning-up + Fast Boot actually works. It's now been 3 days and it still works so I'm getting...

To confirm either way, you can change the RST driver and GUI. https://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchResult.aspx?lang=eng&keyword=%22Intel+Rapid+Storage+Technology+(Intel+RST)%22 I went through all of these yesterday and it did not brake my RAID0 which is my OS drive. Now, I cannot...

    RE-build a Z68 with IRST

Ah ok, well I assume you're talking about 840 EVO? I haven't read anything bad about it and there's no need to avoid "TLC" per-say, you get enough life out of them and speed-wise you'd not notice anything IMO.
  37. E

    RE-build a Z68 with IRST

I've got to ask even though it's a "smaller" size SSD, why don't you simply install the OS and main programs on that? Leave everything else on the HDDs. There is no way you're seeing the same benefits as having OS on the SSD + main programs like Outlook (example) vs. this caching solution...

What happens, it won't wake via keyboard/mouse or it won't wake up even via power button? Do you see any errors/problems in eventlog (kernel-power related more than likely).
  39. E

ASUS Z87 Motherboards - Overview, Guides and Official Support

With your HDDs spinning up and down during shut-down, that's because of the RST driver (not the GUI). If you're using version 12.0.x you're fine, I bet you won't see that behaviour anymore but that's over 11 months old now so who'd use that. Anything newer, for example 12.5 onwards will have...
