Sounds like the CPU fan detect thing. I had this problem when i've built a few mahines. make sure you've got the fan in the CPU fan mount so it can detect the fan. I thinkk there is an option to turn this off in the Bios?? hope that helps, neo out

I don't think i'll need another fan as the Akasa Evo 120 kicks out enough air at the bottom of the fan to run through the OTES. I'm gonna get it and hope for the best. :confused: :confused: Hope i'll be okay... :D My Paxpower 460W PSU should hopefully be okay to power this board...

I thought that the [H] reviewed the Abit AN8-Ultra and said it was too much of a headache to recommend - did they get a duff board? review here of Abit AN8 Ultra I'm also tyempted to get a silent cooling board, either the AX8 or the AN8 Ultra (£10 difference). neo out

errr... there must be a bios option "Turn off cpu fans in standb-by" or something like that. You want to set this to DISABLE. Usually under power management option. Either that or have you tried Hibernate?

Try the Akasa Eclipse 62 / Savrow Blackbird SR71 / Globalwin YCC-6 something - All the same case, just resellers. I don't really care if it is a Tt design, the reviews show it's good, and able to run SILENT which is what i'm interrested in... It's about £35 - £40 in shops but i picked it up off ebay for £28 shipped. The guy sold it because it didn't fit his case... oh well, his bad luck and my good...

If you DO decide to go X2 i hope you have an Abit AX8 v2 as only the v2 support the X2 chips. There was some problem eith one of via's chips and the v2 has an updated chip which allows x2 to function. I'm thinking of getting an X2 3800+ but @ £222 i can't justify it when i can get a 3200+ for...

Yeah, the Abit AX8 v2.0 does which is based on the 890 chip and not the 800 chip. I'll have a look around and see what else i like. I've already got myself a new case (Akasa Eclipse 62) and the new Akasa Evo 120... just hope they all perform silently :D neo out
