I bought it for $35 in June 2019 to replace my 4870. I was waiting for the current gen of cards to upgrade and then I thought that if I waited a bit after release that they would get cheaper...
I went from the 37" westy to a 21" sony g520 crt.
I run at 1600x1200 100hz and have had little desire to switch back. 100hz Is kind of still not enough and going back to 60hz on a huge screen hurts my brain. Also the huge screen hurt my eyes and made them bloodshot from long periods of use...
I got a Sony CPD-G520 for 20$ a couple months ago and use it in place of my 37" 1080p Westinghouse. Everybody thinks I'm crazy for that despite what I say.
I can run at 1920x1440 85hz and have more space to work and it's still clear enough to read small text at about 3 feet. My favorite for...
It doesn't make any difference.
I've been living for years with the idea that headphones can't make sounds from the front. Is it just me and my setup or is it like that for everyone else?
Is there any way to make it sound like sound is coming from the front? I use the Sennheiser HD 555 with x-fi xtreme music and sounds that are supposed to come from the front sound like they are on top of my head instead. It's like that with any other headphones I've used too.
Yeah I'm sure there will be a noticeable difference. If you can sell your existing system or put it to good use some other way(give it to a friend etc.), that would make it more justifiable.
It's actually not going to be any worse of a problem. You can just drop the resolution number to half the native res of the monitor and not lose any quality from scaling.
For example a 27" 3840x2160 monitor can function at 1920x1080 without looking any worse than a native 1080p screen. Each...
At idle the newer cards use significantly less power due to much better power management. All the 4870 does by default is downclock from 700Mhz to 600Mhz in 2d mode. The newer cards do much more than that. As a result it's something like 80w for the 4870 at idle vs about 20w for the later...
