Removed the box in my car a couple years ago but you still have to leave your phone at home. Here's my guide for a Mk7 Golf R.

It's been regressing since the S5. 8 months of circle jerking with speculation and leaks, increasing cost, fragile glass bodies, permanent and smaller batteries that charge (wear-out) faster, no sdcard, no IR transmitter, locked bootloaders, less than 2 years of OS updates, rear speakers, no...
Another gimmick. Still clinging to an S5 with weekly updates from lineage. Will likely replace it with the small pixel 3 just for long term OS support but no removable battery, no sd card, no IR transmitter, no headphone jack, and will probably have glass on the back and curved edges...
Glad I got in on the Turris Omnia kickstarter.

The first action taken by the ssler module is to configure the device’s iptables to redirect all traffic destined for port 80 to its local service listening on port 8888. It starts by...
I own a lot of ASUS products. One thing is for sure, their software will be terrible. Manufacturers are distracted with LED gimmicks when they should focus on making modular systems, bubble tight quick disconnect fittings, suppressing noise, and improving the pump suction hydraulics, bearing...
Using an S5 from T-Mobile with TWRP and Lineage OS 14. Still gets weekly updates. Probably the best phone Samsung ever made but I don't see myself ever buying one again unless the bootloader is unlocked. Some water resistance, wireless recharging back, removable battery, and IR transmitter...
Thanks everybody. Solder points on the back were what me ask this question. So I should be able to use a sound card in the bottom x16 slot and still have the video card operating at x16? NukeDukem did the video card go to x16 when you pulled the sound card?
I also read the bottom x16 slot is...
Bought a Taichi and 8700K since the last BIOS update on Sabertooth X99 murdered my 5920K and possibly the main board as well. Getting tired of ASUS and thought I'd try something new. On the Taichi the PCIE x1 slots are above and below the top x16 slot. The lower is blocked by video card and...
Tesla cars are like this as well. Bought a VW Mk7 R last winter and the first thing I did was buy weathertech mats and surgically remove their CarNet box that networks the car. Turned out to be a powerful computer with a capable processor, 1 gig of RAM, DAC tied to the car mic, cell modem, and...
I remove all the bloat from the Windows ISO using toolkit from MDL, disable auto updates, and make nightly macrium reflect images to a non-windows NAS just in case. It will only get worse with time.
The purpose is likely a backdoor. Bill Binney on a Reddit AMA clearly said no PC hardware, OS, or phone is safe but I still like to make it difficult for them. I use Windows 10 at home for work and gaming but strip all the bloat out of an untouched image using the MSMG ToolKit at MDL and...
This does not look short and easy.
The process we will be following is as follows:
ensuring you have the necessary components available;
locating (and identifying) the BIOS flash chip on your target PC;
setting up a Raspberry Pi 3 Model B ('RPi3') as an in-system flash programmer;
reading the...
They are fucked. First ones to get the boot will be IT, billing/accounting, expense, and HR. New bottom of the barrel health care plans followed by yearly health assessment points for lower premiums. Then an onslaught of horseshit from the corporate necronomicon. Professional development...
Naughty Dog does awesome work. As a kid, I remember playing countless hours of Keef The Thief on a signed Apple IIGS with no hard drive. Loved that game and the music.
Edit: My stupid brother convinced mom and dad to buy Apple instead of the Amiga. After watching the documentary, I realized...
They claim it's for VR. I have a 1070 and 1080ti STRIX and used it to run one HDMI to the TV and another to the AVR for sound. In my case, the 2 HDMI solved a problem because all current receivers are using HDMI standards that don't have the bandwidth for 4:4:4 and 10 bit, nevermind anything...
I bought 4 initially and 3 where Thai. Checked 3 more stores and finally found the 4th Thai for a matched set. Checked the firmware and scanned all 4 in a Synology box. Remember to register each serial number with WD.
Also performed the C2000 Atom fix myself by soldering on a 100 ohm 1/8th...
Earlier this year I bought a Mk7 Golf R. First order of business was to physically remove the CarNet snitch box, add jumpers to get the car mic working again, then remove it from the gateway. Also disabled all the vehicle in motion locks. This car has 1 usb port. It supports mirrorlink...
1080 TI STRIX has been in stock at NEWEGG all morning. I have a 1070 STRIX and it's a real nice card but ASUS software is terrible. Ended up using speedfan which works well but negates the 2 integrated fan headers. I suspect it will be the same with the 1080 TI...

The terms are ominous. Not much in the owner's favor. Again, fuck this thing. Already got a tracker, mic, and camera in my pocket but at least the battery can be pulled.
Locating the vehicle if stolen would be nice but I'm not paying a monthly fee. Downsides are location tracking, hot mic, remote disabling/unlocking, capturing power train data, remote hacking, maybe adjusting insurance based on driving data (in the future). No desire to have my car connected...
Just bought a MK7 Golf R and plan on performing surgery soon to remove the CarNet module. It's a self-contained computer with processor, gps, cell, and microphone. Fuck this. No easy way to disable it. Have to physically remove it, add jumpers to restore the mic for BT and voice commands...

Each plant is different. Some are unmanned. Some are operated by wrench turning dinosaurs and others have someone that worked as a controls integrator at a previous job. PLC's need updates. Some systems with long term maintenance packages like CHP engines require remote monitoring from the...
This concept is non-sense. Chemical feed systems in drinking water plants, if designed right, have chemical storage tank(s) and day tanks as a precaution. Transfer from bulk storage (minimum 30 day supply) to a smaller day tank is done manually with a pump or motor operated valve and a manual...
It's not fake. The square and round things are analog indicators for flow, pressure, level, temperature, and power. There's nothing unusual here for this period of time.
This is not a computer. It's an old analog control panel built specifically for this plant. All the field instruments land here with analog indicators and discreet lamps on the process flow diagram up top. Might be some in the back but I don't see any switches or buttons. Probably monitors...
I have a 65 E and play 1080p videos through madVR with image doubling and it looks great. Computer is my only source. The panel is glossy with a purple tint. Have to turn off lights behind me at night otherwise they show up on the panel. Haven't tried any HDR yet.
Looks great. Playing Tomb Raider now at 1600, no AA, and max settings. Rivatuner won't load OSD with DX12. Gameplay is smooth. Using scptoolkit with a PS3 controller and BT dongle to play 3rd person games wireless. Works great.
LG just pushed an update on my 65E. I never had any signal...
