    Show Your LCD(s) setups!!!

    1. Transport issues. 2. Using cards in crossfire and annoyingly with these monitors doesn't work with all 3. 3. Actually work more productively with 2 monitors... 3 is a bit overkill. 4. Wiring would be hell if I had the tower under the desk here... all the cables would have to go down the front.

What do you guys use to clean your LCD Monitors?

A monitor cleaning kit from the supermarket. Contains liquid solution and reusable microfiber cloth.

Is it ok to clip my PSU?

I had a spare cable on the new PSU I installed. Just cable tied it and left it at the top of the case... the one benefit of having a case with an old-school design. ;)

Old PSU exploded just before the end of 2011. You could say my year went out with a bang. Pictured below is the replacement PSU, CM Silent Pro Gold 1200w. Setup at university halls with 2 30" monitors, 2*800w speakers + 2000w amp PA sound system and 10.7TB of NAS (5*3TB disks). Still...

    Show Your LCD(s) setups!!!

The ST2220T seems to try to conform to the same [higher] dot pitch as the other monitors hooked up to my 6970 (the 30 inchers); ergo the touch function becomes more off position the further one ventures from the center of the screen: I'm not sure why it does this but it seems to be a...

    Show Your LCD(s) setups!!!

Not quite sure yet. If I don't have space for it with my desktop I can use it as a docking monitor for my notebook which has the same native resolution on its screen.

    Buying bare-bone system?

There are always people who want to upgrade their PC or keep it running on the cheap. Sling any parts for a low price that you don't want post-upgrade and use that to increase your budget. As for cooling reclaiming that CoolerMaster V8 I see in your sig for your new rig (switch that mobo set...

Moved speakers up to desk level... Also, Dell were having a 25% sale here so I took the plunge on an ST2220T. Hoping to do something like this: If my keyboard won't fit either well... I might just use the monitor with Win7's OSK.

    Question about Eyefinity

Here's the deal, I'll be upgrading my main GPU to a HD 6970 and plan to use SLS (smart taskbar/bezel management) across 3 30" displays. If I want to keep another, separate, Nvidia GPU in the system with a couple of additional monitors hooked into it for whatever purpose, will this mean I can't...

Exactly what happened to me with gamma shift. IPS and IPS variants from here on out, or at least until something better comes along.

Which side monitor to get for U3011?

If you want something to match the quality then it's pretty much Dell or HP as your choice here.

lcd monitor 30" vs lcd ( led ) tv 32"

Well if you're looking at 30" they're only 60Hz refresh rate and 60Hz 1920x1080 TVs are pretty cheap now. Best of both worlds scenario would be to tun a 30" computer monitor for non-gaming and a 32" for gaming. Fonts etc. will look nicer on a 30" at a close distance; on the other hand you don't...

    Gaming: 3 x 24" or 1 x 27/30"?

A 24" 16:10 screen offers more pixel real estate (1920x1200) than 16:9 (1920x1080) but now people are saying that games are being designed for a 16:9 field of view as opposed to 16:10 which is where this "Less visible area" comes from. So as wings 16:10 is not an issue. Just keep in mind the...

lcd monitor 30" vs lcd ( led ) tv 32"

Depends how far away you are sitting vs. how much pixel real estate you want (for web browsing etc.) vs. how much you're willing to pay vs. how powerful the graphics card you have is. A 580 should be ok for today's games on a 30" but maybe not a 285.

When will we see 3840*2160 monitors?

In terms of connectivity though... is there a cable type that would be able to drive that resolution at 60Hz or higher? Is there not an issue with image bandwidth in that sense? I'm curious to know how we would connect such monitors to a base unit.

    "New"-IPS overrated?

I do some graphic design as a hobby. Though the Q3 LG panel suffers a bit more from the 'sparkle' effect than the Q5 LG panel, both do the job when it comes to colour accuracy. On the Samsung 2233BW that I used previously, colour inconsistency across the panel became a real issue when working in...

Large Digital Signage Screen or Eyefinity?

I tell them exactly what I want and they try to fund it if they can. For the U3011 I just gave an amazon screen capture to mother. For the Hazros I took care of the actual ordering myself via dad's card.

I need to have at least 1 landscape. I'm not a big fan of 30" in portrait and it only has 1600 pixels across... I want 1920 for video. In the worst case scenario I'll be bringing a little fold-up table which I might be able to use as long as it's stable enough to hold one of the monitors.

    Hazro HZ30Wi, HZ27Wa & HZ27Wb

If the panel is glossy it may be lesser quality stock that Apple didn't want to use, or LG may be producing a level of surplus that allows Hazro to purchase those panels without a premium. Just my theory based on your suggestion.

Just to confirm, it does seem like a connection issue. I get red dots when the DVI cables on my desktop monitors are loose.

    Dual Link DVI-D max resolution?

The question is whether the monitor itself will support it from HDMI input. Just been reading around for the Dell 3008WFP out of interest and apparently it won't display 2560 x 1600 from any HDMI source.

    Dual Link DVI-D max resolution?

I doubt your laptop even has a dual link DVI output. You could try HDMI if your laptop has that but I have no experience personally. Displayport is another possibility but I haven't seen it on anything other than MacBooks...

    Hazro HZ30Wi, HZ27Wa & HZ27Wb

Yeah, you're right. Quality control more superior in the UK? Hah. I'm just hoping that my replacement 30" isn't cocked up. Good thing there is no glass cover for that one, and therefore nothing can get trapped under glass. Playing the pixel lottery is great when you win but sucks when you...

Large Digital Signage Screen or Eyefinity?

A large 1080p monitor/TV seems like a cheap (relative) and cheerful option if it's purely for gaming purposes. Should save you some money on gfx card upgrades too. If I had the space, the cash and the means by which to do so I would mount one above my main desktop monitors for video and what...

    Hazro HZ30Wi, HZ27Wa & HZ27Wb

Despite the issue I've had with one of Hazro's 30 inchers the other one I have is pretty much perfect. It faired better in pixel walk tests than my Dell U3011. Will be keeping those 27" models in mind for the future... They look like great value compared to the U2711 and ACD. I personally...

    Is Backlit Better?

CCFL <3 LED backlighting is for my mobile devices. Don't want to see it anywhere near my desktop monitors unless it's a full RGB LED backlighting (which they seldom sell anymore due to high cost). The backlighting on most white LED backlit screens now gives a yellowish-blue tint to whites...

Higher Resolution Than 1080P TVs (PopSci Article)

I wouldn't put it past them to make them. The question is whether or not they will actually sell them. There has to be a degree of efficiency in manufacturing techniques before firms will be willing to sell such high resolution screens, regardless of whether there is a market for them or...

    u2311 * 3 or 3007wfp-hc ?

The screen real estate argument is often redundant even in Windows where there are programs available to add multiple virtual desktops to your system, thus reducing the need for more physical screens. Depends how you want to work I guess, I personally go crazy trying to manage multiple...

    Hazro HZ30Wi, HZ27Wa & HZ27Wb

First of all, sorry for the late reply. -In terms of image quality it's a difficult question to answer. The U3011 is a wide gamut monitor and the Hazro standard gamut. It really depends on your needs. On default settings the U3011 has a slight pinkish-red push and the Hazro (which cannot be...
