Will I be bottlenecked with ssd read speeds and marvell controller?

Unfortunately, yes, you will be bottlenecked. The Marvell 9128 is only good for around 360MB/s read, and not much more when in RAID-0.

First Gen Patsburg -A: Number of SATA ports 10 or 6?

The first 'generation' of X79 boards all have 6 ports from the X79 chipset. Intel found errata (with the chipset or additional PCIe x4 link between CPU and chipset), and removed the extra ports.

    EVGA X79 Classified

Unfortunately it looks as if all X79 boards will only have 6 SATA ports from the chipset.

It's the latter (EAH6870/2DI2S/1GD5), the one with the reference AMD heatsink/fan unit.

ASUS - Official AMD 9xx Chipset Series Motherboard Support

Hi Raja, The card is an Asus EAH6870, basically a reference HD6870. I forgot to point out in my previous post that the card works fine in a couple of other boards I tried it with, including a Crosshair IV Formula. Those are the NIC drivers I have been running, and recommending others use...

ASUS - Official AMD 9xx Chipset Series Motherboard Support

I came across a strange error with the Crosshair V Formula yesterday. With an Asus/AMD HD6870 installed in PCIe x16#1, the PC takes much longer than normal to post, the post LEDs indicating that the VGA and RAM are being repeatedly tested. Once it does post and boots into Windows 7, all...

Crosshair V Problems / Bugs / Other Things / *READ BEFORE YOU BUY*

I'm really not sure, although its certainly not an isolated incident as more reports of the problem are popping up on forums. You guys that have it working ok, have you tried (if you can) copying something over the network, which will max out the NIC (110MB/s), then if that works, try it again...

Crosshair V Problems / Bugs / Other Things / *READ BEFORE YOU BUY*

Hi Raja, I've tried both the current Intel 16.3 release (11.7.32.0 driver, dated 2010/12/01), and the Asus provided driver 15.6 (11.7.32.0 driver, dated 2010/08/05). Surfing, gaming and remote desktop seem fine, but any stress on the contoller and within a minute I get a BSOD, with the...

Crosshair V Problems / Bugs / Other Things / *READ BEFORE YOU BUY*

Hi Raja, Has their been any response from Asus HQ about the ongoing problems with the drivers for the Intel 82583V network controller? It's pretty poor that the same issue is present on the Crosshair V months after the same problem with the Crosshair IV Extreme first came to light. This is...

    Have you tried BIOS 0506?

ASUS - Official AMD 9xx Chipset Series Motherboard Support

Hi Raja, I'm using the BIOS the board came with - 0404. I might give a newer BIOS a try, just not overly keen on beta BIOSes.

Thanks Raja. It's back to giving me the CPU fan error on every boot now. :)

Thanks Raja. I'm using 2 Akasa Apache 120mm PWM fans, plugged into the CPU_FAN and OPT_CPU headers.

ASUS - Official AMD 9xx Chipset Series Motherboard Support

I've also tried that. Based on my last few cold boots, I now get the CPU fan error about 1 in 4 boots. I've also found that using the 'fixed' Intel LAN driver file (that I myself suggested using in another thread) works fine for file copies (99% network utilisation, 112MB/sec transfers), but...

Crosshair V Problems / Bugs / Other Things / *READ BEFORE YOU BUY*

The Intel NIC problem is exactly the same as on The Crosshair IV Extreme. To get it working you need to use the driver on Asus' site for the CIV-E. Alternatively you can install the latest Intel package (16.3) then copy the updated 'e1q62x64.sys' from the Asus provided driver into...

Maximus IV Extreme offset CPU voltage option

HHC over on the Asus forums suggested I change the CPU Vcore phase control to 'standard' and the offset option would be available again. I changed mine from the default of 'extreme' to 'standard' and sure enough the offset option was back :)

Maximus IV Extreme offset CPU voltage option

Thanks very much for the replies Gary and JJ, much appreciated. I have been loading setup defaults, and being careful when flashing as its my first experience with the Asus/AMI UEFI. The system works, just as I mentioned, if I swap from BIOS 1 to 2 or visa versa, I get the updating iROG...

Maximus IV Extreme offset CPU voltage option

I'm having a few issues with my new Maximus IV Extreme. The offset CPU voltage option, which is the default with the original BIOS 0406 is no longer selectable with any newer BIOS (I’ve tried 0504, 0653 beta, and the new 0802). 'Manual Mode' is the only option, and this is greyed out. Has anyone...
