Cool - I got an email saying you were trying to resolve a DNS issue - di you get that sorted out ? I noticed there was a resolution posted on the Asus VIP forums:

Hi,
MAC filtering is mainly for wireless clients (not sure what the max number is), however if you set aside IP addresses for up to 32 clients in LAN set-up (using their unique MAC address) you can set up rules in Parental Controls to restrict / throttle access.
Does that help ?

Larry,
The router broadcasts both on 2.4 and 5.0 simultaneously (you can switch either off). However your Note 2 will only connect to one wireless broadcast at a time. You will find that the range of 2.4 is better than 5.0, however even with a lower wireless signal, the throughput on 5.0 may be...
Hi,
I'm afraid I haven't had experience of either of the routers that you've mentioned - I have used an older Netgear DG834G modem/router, but don't think thats much help to you.
The Asus RT-AC66U is a good device though, but is still quite expensive compared to the RT-N66U. As I put in my...
There's a newer FW out now on the Asus site (x.220). However I use Merlin's modified FW, and find that it's pretty good and stable. He also responds to feedback. You can find it here.
In terms of wireless coverage, my RT-N66U has been ok. Have you tried checking with inSSIDer to see if the...
@Apachez - sorry I didn't use the IPV6 functionality on the router (my ISP doesn't support it right now as far as I know). Apologies I can't be more help on this :-)
@Rudde93 - I had the N66U as well and apart from the potential wireless speeds of the AC there's not much between the 2 routers...
Hey Folks,
I thought I'd try my hand at doing a home user review for the new Asus RT-AC66U wireless router - it's my first review of this kind, so apologies in advance if I've gone on too much :p
Asus RT-AC66U Home User Review
I use an Asus RT-N66U wireless router in my home network, and...
As Globox says, it depends on the router. Mine has a setting that allows it to operate in Access Point mode, so DHCP is disabled by default. When the router is running in AP mode, it will be given it's IP address by the DHCP on the network, so you'll need to have a way of finding out what the IP...
Thanks for the reply - I've checked out the Asus router & it looks pretty good. The Tomato FW is also really interesting. (though won't support my older Netgear router).
Is it easy to go back to the Asus FW after having Tomato on there ?

Hi Folks,
Does anyone know of a good ADSL router that can be used to throttle internet bandwidth allowance depending on MAC Addresses ? Currently I've a number of PC's and Mac's connected to my home LAN, and whilst LAN traffic speed is fine, the internet bandwidth can become congested pretty...
Ok, managed to get the link up. I inspected the termination of the cable at the patch panel end, and it was a bit suspect. So cut & re-terminated, and the link is now up - showing gigabit duplex on my smart switch, which is what I was after.
I do think I need to improve the earthing of my patch...
Why didn't you use Boot Camp on the Macbook to sort out the Win installation ? That way you can create the partition size & get the format right without effecting your OSX installation.
You can find Bootcamp under Utilities in OSX

I've got a dual band APE, and it's great for what I use it for, and integrates well with the rest of my Apple kit. They do lack in admin functions though when compared to the likes of Netgear etc, so if you like to tinker it may not be the best option.
One function I do like is that if you have...
Thanks for the reply.
Yes I've checked keystone to keystone and it's ok. Have used the same test equipment on the other network ports & they check out fine too (and work). So this one line is puzzling me as the testing says it's ok, but the link won't come up. I've tried different ports on...
Hi,
I'm new on this forum, so apologies in advance if I've not searched properly for an answer to this query !
I've cabled my home with Cat6a cable. The cables are terminated in different rooms using wall mounted Connectix 10G keystones, with all the cables feeding back to my server cabinet...
