yeah, goofed twice early this morning about VA panel performance and £ to $ conversion, think i'll just keep lurking instead of commenting for awhile..:)
my mistake, you're right about this, my misunderstanding was that VA panels (MVA/PVA) were specifically developed to sit between TN and IPS panels in terms of responsiveness (black-tone-white, ghosting, contrast, gamut), i'm wrong, thanks for clarifying.
Interesting, that Samsung S34E790C (£830(w/o VAT)=$1230(correction:$1298) has a VA panel which; if Samsung engineered it right, should have better response performance for gaming versus the IPS panels (video/photo editing) of the Dell/LG/AOC.
thx cbutters, looking into GS4 DAC's.. seems there might be performance issues between int'l vs US i9500/i9505 versions and whatever Wolfson/Qualcomm 8740 DAC is in there; in addition to, only capable of up to 44kHz playback, reported buggy camera(?) and phone heating up issues; but, i'm still...
Not exactly sure how this works thanks.
Anyone know/guess what happens to a secondary PSU (jumpered to primary) when an ATX form factor Win7(LGA2001) goes into S3/S4?
Setup would be primary PSU powering mb+gpus+system drives; secondary powers storage (lots), pumps, fan controller.
S3: suspend...
i want the get a Corsair k70/95 but there seemed to be alot of user reports of failing led backlighting on the Corsair forums - anyone know if Corsair remediated this?
Cool, looks like the new RIV-BE is up to the task for the LN2 overclocking crowd.
Honestly, I would've liked them to have also tested achieving high stable overclocks of normal off the shelf IB-E 4820k+4930k cpu's and ram under h2o/air to see how well they did.
interesting, well, the RIVE is the only extended ATX form factor in the x79 series.
"number one request they get for ROG mobos" lol.. hmm. my guess is they updated the audio from the Realtek ALC898 to the new ROG SupremeFX which some people seem to be having issues with on the new Z87 MVI...
thx blackbird, yep, moderators 'in the know' over at the rog rampage forum mentioned pretty much the same kinda thing (it's all they can disclose at the moment) - I just hope not only the ROG x79 gene/formula versions are getting a refresh..
|oR|Spetsnaz, i've been looking into cyberpower ups's recently, if i understand things correctly, you might consider upgrading from the personal edition to the business edition of powerpanel for the additional features you want.
I don't know if your CP1500AVRLCD Intelligent LCD Series is...
fyi, someone over at the ROG forum just got a i7-4930K Ivy Bridge-E, installed in a RIVE running a mild overclock,
tough to do much more until proper drivers/bios are released. Scroll down to the bottom half of this thread:
http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?35954-IB-E-True-6-core/page3
install the 32gb, allocate 24gb for a ramdisk, leave 8 for the os.
great speed running disk intensive games/graphics/video editing/cache/apps.
look for ramdisk software that has disk image backup features.
CrystalDiskMark benchmark example:
Read / Write (MB/s):
HD,1TB,7200rpm: 176 / 170...
Folks over at the EVGA forum received a X79 Dark.
http://www.evga.com/forums/tm.aspx?&m=1966012&mpage=13
No issues reported so far, he likes the BIOS, some install issue w/Eleet-X (tuning utility qpi/voltage),
he spotted a beta IVY-E config in BIOS 3.
reported he's running:
Intel i7-3930k...
Justintoxicated, your DFI Lanparty w/PCIe 2.0 x16 and Intel Q9450 Core 2 Quad Yorkfield will probably rock a single GTX 780 and most non-cpu intensive games/apps just fine for now; but, i don't think it supports SLI. Just a thought.
hi Justintoxicated, Formula's PCIe setup is fine running 2 cards in SLI at X8/X8 (dual x8).
GPU performance difference running X8 vs X16 less than 7% framerate if a GPU is strong enough to
stress X8 bandwidth and you're running high resolution (above 2560x1600) and/or multiple displays -

Thank you for the reply Raja, very much appreciate your presence in these forums, i knew it was too much to hope for Asus to squeeze in Asmedia PLX 8747 splitter architecture into the Formula, that's what the Extreme is for lol.
I'll have to see if i can use my PCIe 4X sata/esata card in one of...
wish the M6F formula had at least one X4 PCI Express slot instead of three X1 slots.
still probably gonna get it when the C2 revision is released and prices come down.
found on another site, old release schedule for Dell's 30" monitors.
3007WFP-HC: released January 2006.
>then 2 years later..
3008WFP: released January 2008.
>then 2 years and 9 months later..
U3011: released October 2010.
so, estimated average is approx 2.375 year cycle; therefore, U3013...
@slipperyskip, nice craftsmanship thanks for sharing.
are you planning to line the case with anykind of RF shielding/coating and ground it; or,
are you not concerned about possible EMI/RFI noise?
can anyone say why there isn't any 3GB versions of the 680?
for multi-monitor ultra-rendering gaming, 2GB can be limiting depending on the game and 4GB versions are are bit pricy right now.
3GB seems like it would be a sweet spot price/performance wise.
is there somekind of bandwidth...
just fyi re ASUS Maximus IV GENE-Z, there's an existing discussion thread here:
http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1642673
and an [H]ard|OCP review here:
http://www.hardocp.com/article/2011/09/24/asus_maximus_iv_genez_done/
sboucher, nothing special that i am aware of, i was just curious what revision version Dell was now shipping. As far as I can tell, revisions A01-A02 were hardware updates; and, firmware revisions A03-A05 are non-hardware on screen display cosmetic tweaks depending on factory region i think...
Anyone out there running an Asus G73SW-A1 to external 30" Dell U3011 or HP ZR30w monitor? Is the nVidia GeForce GTX 460M gaming performance OK at 2560x1600?
Please let me know your thoughts thanks.
just fyi, i saw in the newegg feedback comments by 'vlad' for the ASUS Maximus IV Extreme-Z somekind of '*USB Problem fix*' which might be applicable to your Asus P8Z68-V USB issue..
