I've just set up a new Lenovo TS140 server with an M1015 flashed into IT mode. The M1015 is passed through to the FreeNAS 9.10 VM. Things appeared to be working but I'm getting CKSUM errors and permanent file errors, see below. The zpool has 2 8tb Seagate archive HDDs in a mirror.

I have a 2011 MBA and I've been waiting since I got it for a Thunderbolt->gigabit ethernet adapter so I can connect to my network.

Going to be building a new dual E5 Xeon rig (E5-2640 most likely), probably with a SUPERMICRO X9DAi.
I was hoping to get some recommendations for some good extended ATX cases.

I'm trying to build a quiet mITX machine for a three monitor workstation (1x 1920x1200 center, 2x 1600x1200 left and right). I don't game much so the 6670 should be more than enough. I would like to overclock the CPU ideally...

I'm planning an upgrade to my mini-ITX rig. I was wondering if there are any mini-ITX setups with the possibility of running dual 2560x1600 monitors with the integrated graphics.
I found the Intel BOXDQ67EPB3 which has display port and DVI.
Are there AMD solutions, llano?
It says it is dual...

Going to building a couple new workstations for 3D visualization of scientific data and data processing with CERN Root.
I'm trying to decide between a single-CPU Intel Xeon E5-2687W and a dual-CPU AMD Opteron 6276?
The dual opteron is actually the cheaper option

Going to be building 2 new workstations for the lab at work.
I think I will be building around the new 8 core Xeon E5-2687W. Budget is about $4000/each. They will be used for 3D rendering of scientific data and data analysis. The computations are primarily done with CERN Root...
Going to be building 2 new workstations for the lab at work.
I think I will be building around the new 8 core Xeon E5-2687W but if there is a good alternative that could work too, at the moment we have a number of dual-cpu workstations so that is fine if the cost/performance is good. Budget...
My boss wants a bunch of data backed up to an external hard drive, about 700GB. We have most of the data also on an external raid array on a server in the office so this is strictly archived backup for a project that has been finished.
I was wondering if there is a good way to store some sort...
I'm looking for a motherboard for a low-cost office computer that supports dual monitors with 2 digital connections.

I was wondering if its possible with pfsense/untangle/routerboard/generic iptables linux computer/router to have it direct a connection to a specific destination IP over an SSH tunnel to another computer (at another site) which then does the normal SSH tunnel (to the final destination IP). If I...
My NAS runs solaris (bare metal) and I was hoping to run a couple simple VMs on it. Since I don't have a gui (didn't think I would need it and Iwas originally running on an e-350 now upgraded to an Athlon II x2 250).
Anyways, I have apache+php installed and vboxphp loads. I have disabled...

I virtualize windows on my laptop (running ubuntu) to use some MS and Adobe apps but I was wondering what people use numerous VMs for, especially on ESXI servers or equivalent.
What do you run in the VMs, is it for work, for fun?
Mostly just curious?
Thanks,

It seems that there is some demand for battery backed SSDs that can be safely used as ZIL/SLOG in ZFS pools without the risk of loosing data/the pool if power is lost during writing and the DRAM cache isn't written to the non-volatile memory.
From commercial sources these drives cost a...
On many cases now there is a round rubber flange that can be used to route cables from the back back into the inside of the case (ex. to use the esata as an internal sata, etc). I want to add one of these to a mini ITX case for my server.
You can see them for example on the back of the Antec...
