Ah, that's unfortunate. I have heard about some issues, but I thought they were only with dual monitors. My drivers crash every once in a while, but it's not too big of an issue.
I've heard the Mamba is really nice, but the Deathadder/Lachesis are wonderful mice as well. Haven't tried any Logitech mice, but Razer does make good ones.
QFT. I loved how you could immerse yourself in the HL2 games... with a coop partner you're just going to have someone screaming in your ear the whole time.
Do exactly what Demon said. Just make sure you say "one" when they ask how many computers were/are activated with this code. They don't actually check or anything, they just accept your word.
I'd just get an iPad to be honest. You'll be happier with it when you can do more. The only unfortunate thing is you can't go shopping for books wherever you go unless you want to pay for the 3G. For PDFs I feel you're going to get more of what you want with the iPad as well.
The H50 isn't a miracle worker. You will still see temps in 50s/60s (especially if you OC) under load. However, you may want to try reseating the heatsink, that tends to help. Also, give it a bit of time. Your TIM might have some curing time, so temps could be dropping as you read this.
I don't like the gimmicky controls... they made it harder to play. I'd have preferred it on the GCN (I know, I could have played it there).
Also it just didn't deliver to the hype that it received.
I think for some reason, some country would get mad at the US for making games about it... probably not a smart idea. And I wouldn't really like the concept.
Plus, think about the plotline: That man killed a bunch of people, let's kill him! Next thing you know, you'll see "Sorry Mario, your...
Don't cheap out on your PSU. You'll regret it in the long run. A Corsair TX650 or HX650 will be really nice, and the HX is modular so you can remove cables and whatnot, allowing for better airflow.
I think a big upgrade you're going to want to make is to get onto at least a quad core. You could just go with a 1090T and a decent motherboard (don't know much about AMD mobos) and getting 6gb of DDR3. Then you could either sell your 4870 and buy a 6870 or just buy a second 4870 and crossfire...
If you have a decent sized PSU, I'd go for a 470 on the NVidia side, or a 6870 on the ATI side. To find a 470 around 200 you may have to wait for a sale though.
=\
Opinions man. Half-Life 2 was a great game, Portal was a great game, TF2 was a great game (before hats), Left 4 Dead 1/2 were both fun. CS:S was great, CS 1.6 was great. Those are all the games I got for free. Now I can sell them or give them to friends.
They did, it appeared on my account and unlocked at about 10:30pm CST (with about an hour to go on the timer).
I'm so glad I got the golden potato, I thought it was a great idea.
And for everyone who missed it, next time you'll know that you should hop on their marketing stunts. :p
I don't know if I had the same issue, but I had a similar issue when I upgraded and it said some files were corrupt, so I had to reinstall Windows to get it to update. That may be a solution, but hopefully there are easier solutions out there.
If you've tried all the other components, I'd see if you can RMA the processor. Did you buy it boxed or OEM? If it's boxed there's a three year limited warranty.
If ya want dual processors I'd recommend an SR-2/Xeon build but I assume that eventually where will be Xeon 1155 processors and then You'd be able to find something, though that day could be very far away.
Yeah, getting the 560 will definitely leave room for a cheap upgrade, and you'll be fine with an 850w PSU. You'll probably rock most every game with just one, though. My 470 does fine on every game I play on highest settings.
You could give either the Thermalright Archon or the Prolimatech Genesis a try as both of them basically guarantee that your memory slots are free. Though they don't perform as well as a Silver Arrow or NHD-14
Welcome to the folding project, it's a great thing to do with idle CPU power. You definitely want to leave it maxed out while folding, otherwise you're not going to get anything done (at least, on time). It's not going to hurt your CPU, it was made to go to 100%.
I'd go with option 3, what way if you ever end up doing something kind of demanding on your two 20s you'll be able to do it no problem. And that 580 will just destroy on a 30
