X2. My evga 970 ssc runs cool also. It is nice with the standard profile that shuts the fans off for silent mode.
With that said I went ahead and made a custom fan profile to keep it nice and cool while gaming. Still the fans only get around 55% and my temperature is around 55C.
Just ordered an EVGA 970 SSC. From newegg. Hopefully no issues with it. Then I'll make someone a good deal on a used r9 290.
Have wanted to try nvidia for a while now.
I am thinking about doing kinda a side upgrade.
currently have a reference R9 290 and just want to try Nvidia and considering the Gigabyte 970.
Is there any difference between the 2 cards currently offered by them, other than the clock speed?
thanks!
Forgot to mention that I have an external hard drive that I use and have been putting the things that I want to keep on there. Also been getting rid of old games that I no longer play so my main hard drive currently has around 230G on it right now. Will be even less by the time I delete some...
ordered a Samsung 840 pro to upgrade to. Kinda not sure how to go about changing a drive over like this so if there are any tutorials that you can recommend it would be greatly appreciated.
Is it better/easier to clone and migrate over to the new drive? or is it better to start fresh?
and...
Been running great and no more red blurry shit. I have noticed that the maps load Faster now too. I don't know if this is a byproduct of the patch or just the newer maps.
I will admit that I know next to nothing about water cooling my PC.
Recently updated to a Radeon 290. Loving the performance but I question the heat this baby puts out. I am looking to cool things down and have always wanted to try water cooling.
Primarily right now I am only looking to cool...
I have no complaints. Yes it does get warm, so what, it does its job nicely . I recently set the temp to 90 and the fan up to 70 and it never seems to get higher than 55 fan speed. A little more tinkering with the CCC and i'll try to find out whats going on. Will install Afterburner to see...
with all the talk about coolers I read something that really bothered me, was another forum where the guy that works for/designs the Gelid cooler that I was considering for my 290. He basically said that he test fit the V2 of the cooler to approve it for the 290/x boards and stated that it fit...
My system is a little dated and doesn't take full advantage of the 290 I just got, but I play BF4 and get in the 50-70 range in fps, not measured, just glancing at the number. I do get 40's occasionally but it don't last long. Ultra presets @ 1080.
The 290 isn't much louder than the 6870 I...
OK my mind is now made up. I was going to wait until the cards come with the aftermarket coolers on them but i want one of these baby's now! My only question is since these cards are basically the same reference design, which one comes with the best software for overclocking.
I am kinda in the same boat as the OP. But my 6870 actually runs pretty good at medium presets. It is starting to get very hard to not order something. Waiting for the new cards and mantle testing is driving me crazy. I am going to skip the 280x as it is nearly the same as the old gen card...
Updated to the new amd driver has caused me to have even more crashes in bf4. This is really making me lose lose my faith in amd. I want badly to wait for the 290 non x reviews and mantle reviews but the constant driver issue is really really getting on my nerves.
Thank you for your insight. I am mainly updating to keep up with the games I play. Mainly bf4. Going to wait to play to see how how everything performs. Will be updating gfx card soon also.
Can I buy 3 of the sticks above and stay with triple channel?
currently I have 6 gigs of corsair ddr3 1600 in triple channel. ( TR3X6G1600C9 ) I want to upgrade to 16 gig. Thinking about using this http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0085IWXB8/?tag=extension-kb-20
will this be a good upgrade? I'm not sure if using 2x8 gig sticks is better than using 4x4 gig...
Looking to upgrade from a HD 6870 probably going to wait for black friday or possibly Christmas deals but not sure where to go. Have always had AMD/ATi. but have been itching to try out Nvidia. Waiting for the new R290X cards to come out to see where they fall with the performance of the...
things just don't seem right, here is my comp
Intel core i7 950 @ 3.06 with freezer 7 pro
asus sabertooth x58
6gb corsair ddr3
gigabyte amd 6870
in a HAF X
everything is at stock speeds and it just seems my BF3 frames are slower than they should be. I think I should be able to run on...
Ok I hardly ever post on here but enjoy reading.
I have a problem with BF3 and Teamspeak. It seems that sometimes if I start teamspeak first when I load a BF3 game I will have no sound in BF3. But If I join the game server first and then back out and start up TS everything is fine. Anybody...
