Hi Folks !
Some news from my problem using Asus ARES 2. As I made several new tests, I update it.
Quick reminder. My setup is composed of :

I test using the latest drivers and the lastest beta drivers. I also try the one included in the GPU package.
I have one last test to do is to do a fresh windows 7 install with the latest drivers... Bit it is a pain !
i forget to include it in the list...
Seasonic M12 II 750w.
By the way, before my ROG 7970Ghz, I had a 7990 devil 13 and everything was perfectly working, the same setup. I change it because of the coil noise... And if I remember correctly, both of the gpu were idle at the same time. On the...
Hi Folks,
I am the owner of an Asus ARES 2. I manage to install it and everything is running fine. At first I did not bother to do some benchmark, I did not have time... But, I recently try to play Burnout Paradise and everything was so slow... I previously have a 7970Ghz ROG and was happy...
Yes, I try but it was not working.
I am considering RAM it because there are configuration where they are no noise, for example when booting or using MSI Afterburner (both voltage get 1.17V and freq are at max), but all the other time it is a painfull whining noise.
I might consider ASUS...
After spending more time, I am pretty sure now that the noise is not present when both VDCC are 1.17v and when the frequency of the core and memory runs at normal.
Do anyone know how to flash the BIOSes of the cards ?
cheers,
sergio
Hi Folks :)
I am pleased to possess a 7990 GPU. I install it on my computer (xeon 1290v2, Asus Extrem V Formula, 32gb ram, Seasonic 750w power supply).
At first, I played in the motherboard BIOS, there was nothing to notice. The fan noise of the graphic card was minimal and all the power...

Hi Folks,
I am buying an ARECA 24 ports in order to upate my 1260. I hesitate between a 1280ML and a 1880ix. Price is not a concern. I am willing to use it with my WD20EARS (I know, not a good setup... ). I am running Win2K8 with RAID6 without problem, but I plan to move to ZFS with the new...
Hi john,
That is what I was thinking, but looking at the pictures (http://hardforum.com/showpost.php?p=1036619532&postcount=342) it does look like a professional made solution...
But yes, you may be right and it is not a commercial setup. I really prefer to have one 120mm exhaust fan than...

Hi,
I just saw the pictures of your Norco 4224 case with 2 x 120mm extraction fan. Is it a new design? I still look at Norco website and only see the specs for a 2 x 80mm extraction fan. I plan to buy this case to replace mine (a modded Supermicro 3U ...
Thanks a lot!
I just went to the BIOS and check what was the voltage reported... and everything is fine ;) The 12V is not at 7V. So I put too much trust in the software results!

Hi Folks,
I recently made a new NAS server based on a TYAN s7002 and 2 Xeons E5504 processor. The PSU I use is a Supermicro PWS-0047.
The motherboard have 2 8 Pins connector for the CPU. As I have only one, I use the 4 PIN one with a converter (here are pics of it). Everything work fine...
