2015 Samsung 4k TV as a Monitor Set Up Guide

Just bought a 55" JS8500 and am unable to do 4:4:4@60hz@4k with a GTX960. HDMI UHD Color is on, and PC mode is set on the input. Tried HDMI cables as short as 3' (Amazon Basics). Really at a loss for what to try next.

    New Samsung 4k for everyone.

The 650D is just a renamed JU6500. Costco / Best Buy / Fry's tend to have different named panels to change price points. As far as I want, is to do 4:4:4@60hz for desktop (and gaming when video cards get better) and have 24p support for video content from blu-ray / HD files: JU6500 [flat] //...

For those who bought Haswell. Was it what you expected?

Just to follow up with my soundcard issue, Gigabyte has informed me that any Haswell motherboards must have PCI 2.3 compliant cards or better in order for the PCI slots to work. My Auzentech Meridian 2G is unfortunately PCI 2.2 compliant and isn't even detected. Oh well, time to find a new...

For those who bought Haswell. Was it what you expected?

As you can see like the posters above, Haswell is a very odd to overclock. Tthe highest clock I can get that is Prime95 stable is 4.4GHz @ 1.25V (in BIOS). I have a Noctua NH-D14, and temps are still very reasonable in Prime95 as you can see. I was unable to Prime95 properly at 4.5GHz and...

For those who bought Haswell. Was it what you expected?

Got a stable oc at 4.4GHz @ 1.25V, with 9-9-9-27 ddr3-1866 memory on my Gigabyte GA-Z87X-OC. I'm unable to get my PCI sound card to work in either slot though, so I am using onboard for the moment. Really unsure how to proceed with the problem, as there really hasn't been much Haswell...

    Samsung S27A750D 120Hz

Well as the post starter I thought I'd give a follow-up. My 750D has been getting worse and worse with the DisplayPort issues and I've finally had it. I've contacted Samsung and have been escalated to their care department, demanding a replacement 950D to be shipped. Honestly this is the very...

    Samsung S27A750D 120Hz

When I swapped DP cables I still got the monitor dropout issue. Would be interested to see if it still happens to yours as well. It's been discussed multiple times in this thread. From what I've read it's an AMD only issue, and nvidia owners get another issue of the optimal resolution...

    Samsung S27A750D 120Hz

Mine also will intermittently lose signal with the same error as people have said above. I tried two different cable swaps that I had around the house, to no avail. I have a Radeon 6870, so it could very well be an AMD only issue? I wish there were a more consolidated discussion of this issue...

    Samsung S27A750D 120Hz

it looks like the displayport issue was due to the cable i was using, which was a $6 cheap cable from amazon prime. i have since hooked it up to the samsung dp cable that came with the monitor combined with the altaz dp to mini-dp converter (located here...

    Samsung S27A750D 120Hz

I have had the intermittent issue once in a while of the DisplayPort cutting out and saying not recommended settings which requires a power cycle. I however am constantly updating my video card drivers and am currently running the 11.10 preview2 driver. Not sure if its the screen itself or the...

    Samsung S27A750D 120Hz

In the menu of the monitor you can disable auto-detection and force it to stay on HDMI or DP based upon whatever you choose. I'd force it to HDMI then power cycle the monitor and turn the blu-ray player on.

    Samsung S27A750D 120Hz

The monitor does not come with a DisplayPort cable. I bought a 6 ft. cable from Amazon Prime for $7. The monitor does come with 3D glasses. Also, it has the same screen as the 950D however the base is a different style. I haven't done much with 3D on it however from what I've seen in the...

    Samsung S27A750D 120Hz

Today while reading some discussions about calibrating the S27A950D (which has the same screen / menu system) I noticed that I was getting some bad bright greenish ghosting that was noticeable during lots of movement on the screen in 2D movies and World Of Warcraft. I started messing with the...

    Samsung S27A750D 120Hz

Yes indeed it does. This is the exact reason I bought it. It looks wonderful and after a good week of being on, I can safely say that I have seen no burn-in discoloration or anything affecting the panel negatively.

    Samsung S27A750D 120Hz

I can confirm the monitor only has HDMI and DisplayPort, and I am not sure if HDMI is capable of the bandwidth required for true 120Hz.

    Samsung S27A750D 120Hz

I got this monitor in this morning, hooked it up, and all I can say is WOW. I did a white fullscreen and with careful examination found no dead pixels. Then I messed around and familiarized myself with the menu system. It's pretty straightforward and you can shut off the auto-display feature...

    Catalyst 11.8 Released

I don't see anything on the release notes that mention AMD HD3D support over DisplayPort monitors like there was in the 11.8 preview. Was this an oversight?

    Samsung S27A750D 120Hz

These things mentioned may matter to the end user, or they may not matter at all. From what it looks like, these Samsung line of monitors seem to favor the AMD side of things.

    Samsung S27A950D 120Hz

I got the 750D located here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824001474 Sorry for the confusion, there is no 750D thread. It comes with HDMI/DP and I opted for this model over the 950D due to the thin bezel and general dislike of the 950D's design.

    Samsung S27A950D 120Hz

Well I buckled under pressure and have ordered the S27A750D from Newegg. I'll write some feedback here when I receive it on Thursday. The scariest part of buying this monitor was realizing that since only the DisplayPort plug can do 120hz I am basically limiting myself to ATI for a few years...

    Samsung S27A950D 120Hz

Does anyone know of any reviews for the S27A750D? It looks like the 27" version of the 750 is showing up at random places on the net, and I was looking for information as to the screen and how it compares to the 950D's gloss.

Sandy Bridge P6X Chipset Shipments Halted.

    AMD's Morphological Anti-Aliasing

Yeah I'm going to have to agree and say that 8x MSAA is easily better for top-end systems playing WoW. MLAA made my UI a blurfest and only think it'd be realistic if you were struggling with GPU resources on a low-end system.

Finally a review that overclocks both the 6870 and GTX460!

I'm happy with my 6870 purchase. Although it looks like the 470 sneaks ahead here, I don't mind since my video card is relatively equalized with my proc temps (34-36c idle, 71-73c max load, benchmarks) and I don't like the GF100 "heat your house" mentality.

    Anyone have their 6850's installed?

I got my XFX 6870 yesterday, it is stable up to around 956MHz on stock voltage. From what I hear, the 6850s can get 900+, so I'd say wait for MSI Afterburner to get an update.

    AMD's Morphological Anti-Aliasing

I'm way over my head here with the different kinds of AA. I just installed my new 6870 and noticed that MLAA is unchecked by default in the 3D section of Cataclyst with the 10.10a drivers. If I enable this with application control enabled, will it take effect before the AA settings in a game...
