Does anyone know whats up with this Dimes project, it made a major dent in our standings. I cant see a way to create a userid for it but it looks like there are 2 HardOcp teams out there. It also wont install on my win7 64bit, says something about java , which i know is installed.
welcome to muon, the more the merrier
we have a long way to pick up the next spot or 2 but if we get enough help, we might catch up and gain a few hundred points
with a good push we could gain another spot on muon1 but we would also have to leave someone behind to protect those points. I have kept my 1090t on muon1 since the last push to keep those points we gained, there are a few active teams not too far behind us, phoenicis also kicked in to keep them...
i would definitely take a 2600 over a 2500 for an upgrade, those extra threads help out. if you can afford the extra bucks, the 2600K is the best to do, they are real easy to overclock well above 4ghz on air. microcenter usually has the best prices if you are near one.
i changed the heat sink on my 1090T last night, need to make a reminder to myself. Take plastic covering off base of heatsink before installing. I removed this thing 2 times, temps were over 90c, puzzled until i took it off for the 3rd time and wondered what that writing was on the base of the...
Gimps is supposed to be pretty good, search through this thread, Phoenics had some links to the Gimps setup for GPU's. I dont know how to setup AMD as all mine are Nvidia
looks like we will take over 6th overall in DC soon also, with the next big jump in PSP, and at the same time those points leave Free DC plus Muon1 is coming due soon.
I'm for a christmas challenge but i'm going to keep my cpus on Muon1 long enough to pad our space so we dont lose the spaces...
looks like we've run them out of good TF tasks on gimps, all i've got in the last couple days are 68 to 69 factors. they only take 15 mins though, just got to get a bunch of them to keep the gpus busy. strange i dont seem many other teams doing gpu gimps.
picked up a spot on muon1, 138 points , with 4 more spots upcoming. pour it on, with the muon1 and gimps charge, we should pass Rechenkraft.net for 7th soon.
started a second instance of gimps on the ti560 now, both instances running around 146M/s, each one is using 13% cpu, (one thread worth), with the other 6 threads on the 2600k doing Muon1. must be a Nvdia thing.
i tried to set it to 8 also no change at all. i might try setting up a second instance on my ti560 , i dont think my 460 can handle it since it is at 85% already. my prob is going to be cpu, i have muon set to 7 threads leaving 1 thread for gpu gimps
just started a P1 LL test using cudalucas on my 460 with the amd 4 core. not sure of how long it will take, its showing about 2:37min for 10000 iteration. good thing is its using about 85%gpu and 1%cpu. will look around for something that will give eta, etc.
Razor, thats pretty good, im getting about 1 per hour on a TI560 but im also sharing with Muon1 that has 7 threads of my 2600k. I dont feel like shorting the muon1 processes any more. I have another nvidia 460 that i might try to do a LL and see how that comes out. If we get enough ATI cards...
how many of the TF work units are you able to do in a day? I wonder how the 460 and 560 would do on a double check unit that was taking a few days using 4 threads of my 2600.
thanks that sounds a bit complicated. if i can get my job off my butt i might fool around with that. since i switched all my gpus to primegrid since the wierd gpu utilization when running muon and gpugrid at the same time, i havent tried to go back. there arent many gpu only dc projects that we...
phoenicis, how did you setup your gpus to crunch on gimps, i've looked at the instructions and they are pretty sparse. does it grab the wu automatically or do you have to transfer them to the gpu? I have all my gpus currently on primegrid as they were not efficent on gpu grid while doing muon1.
Another one to look at is GIMPS, i was on it for a while , we have a lot of ground to cover to gain spots but could be worth it. But it supports linux. One of the problems is it takes so damn long to run, didnt want to leave my machines running something that could crash and die and lose a...
its strange, with auto for muon, my 2600k shows about max of 95% cpu usage. you would think the gpugrid could slide in there for some cycles. i have a queue filled with primegrid now so im going to wait to try gpu grid again.
Noticed something interesting today, since i have been doing Muon1, my GPU grid stats dropped considerably. I checked gpu usage and was down to 35% GPU usage while running Muon1, when i stopped Muon1, GPU usuage went back to around 98%. Never had a issue with GPU usage and any other cpu...
