I also had to make the same choice. I eventually went with the Dayton because it had the inputs/outputs I needed to connect everything together. The v1220 didnt. Overall the v1220 should be better even though it's a down-firing sub. Just make sure you can connect everything.
Oh and I love using...
Unless you upgrade your monitors/speakers, I dont see why you would want to dish out $400 for a sub. If you are looking for a budget sub with RCA jacks, look at the Dayton subs from Parts Express. I have one that Ive been using with my monitors for a while now.
The best quality to file size MP3 is V0 VBR. It's practically just as good as 320kbps but about 2/3 the size.
Yea 128 is crap. I dont even have any 128 mp3s. But when it comes to comparing 198+, you need to a/b it.
Definitely the D1080 if she doesnt care about a sub. If she wants a sub, she can always add one later on. The drivers and enclosure is much bigger on the D1080 which is needed especially if she wont be sitting directly in front of the speakers... The M10 will be too weak for a living room. You...
It's all about repetition and practice if you want to become good at the game
No they werent perfect, effective was probably a better word. You will not win a game going 80%+ sentry full energy sentry. It's not as simple as attack move.
Id like to see platinum players throwing up FF as...
Highly disagreed about platinum players being able to FF perfectly. MC's FF decision making is amazing imo. FF must be done so that it doesnt overlap, you have to pull back to force his units to split further etc etc.. there's an art to it really
Yea Id be careful about the uDAC2. I heard the EMU 0404 is good and it has balanced outputs. I ultimately ended up getting the Musiland 02 because it seems most guys over @ head-fi prefer it over similarly priced DACs. Not having a volume knob can get annoying though but like you, sound quality...
The longer the cables needed, the more of a difference balanced cables will make. But I agree with persisting and I used that rule when I bought my equipment.
You should also mention how and what you plan to use your setup for. Recording? Casual listening? Will you use headphones?
So are these the only files I need from this link?

This guy claims to be an "audiophile" but wants to skip a soundcard/DAC? Im not an audiophile and I would NEVER EVER connect my studio monitors to my onboard sound. Once you move past Logitech speakers, you need to start upgrade that onboard sound, as "good enough" as it is.
All soundcards have a DAC but the quality is crap compared to a dedicated DAC. And do NOT get a DAC for gaming. There's no point. And if you want to do a 5.1 setup for FPS, your DAC will only give you stereo output. The only people who prefer DAC over soundcard are those who will use it for...
Well low freqs dont really work like that. If there is bass, it shouldnt matter where the port is. Low freq is "felt" more than "heard." Now for high freqs, that's a different story. That's why you can "feel" a sub at any corner of the room, no matter where the port is as long as it is properly...
As long as you position a rear-ported speaker correctly I dont think the bass output is that much less than front-ported. You need at least 8-12 inches from the wall with rear-ported speakers. The RP5 is still weak in bass unless you turn it up really loud. There is some bass but I dont know how...
RP5 does not have great low end at all. The RP6 is a little better but Id add a sub to either. If you want a 2.0 setup, get the RP8... or if you want to stay with a smaller 5" driver go with the A5.
Have you considered making table stands? You will probably have to ditch the pads though. I had table stands before I got my Fredrik to level my studio monitors and it worked great at isolating.
Nice setup... i remember seeing it a week or two ago. What type of music do you make?
Definitely get a sound card or DAC. I typically recommend a sound card to anybody with speakers over $120.
Xonar is almost always recommended over X-Fi for music. If you care more about gaming then go with the X-Fi. If all you care about is music then an external DAC would be the best choice.
Yea Im aware of the dark surface catching dust but my previous desk was black as well so no biggie for me. I'm not a fan of beech or white computer desks.
Where can I get those lights used on the top shelf to light up the monitor?
Unless he is limited in space in height I dont see it being a problem. Tall speakers can be placed a table more easily than a wide speaker. It does have an 8" driver though.
Make sure you do some measuring on your table before buying it though
FINALLY got the Fredrik I wanted - Black/brown 50" with top shelves!
I was thinking it wouldnt be available. Oh well I think it should be strong enough without them.
Does anybody know if Ikea sells the two metal pieces on step 6 seperately on the Fredrik?
