With a q9550 oc'd to 3.8, and the possibility of the 1090 not overclocking like you'd hoped (which can happen) I would invest that cash in a pair of 60 to 80gb ssd's and run them in raid 0. that would be the greatest improvement right now.

RMA The Board again? maybe its something to do with the L3 cache handling issue , on motherboard? swinging wildly here, and probably not helping, but i thought i would throw that out there.
