New AMD Drivers Coming July 31st

Lol, the only part of the chain which is showing problems is buggy, irrelevant, and not visible to the end user. pleaaaaaase, troll harder

    Intel's Iris Pro:

Again, you're just making radical assumptions based on the fact that Intel is "the king of silicon mass production". So what? Here's a credible reason why they can't: THEY HAVE NEVER MADE A DISCRETE GPU BEFORE. Do you think AMD and Nvidia just start from scratch each time they make a card? No...

My god, are you capable of reading. See above ^^^ did you read the link? Disable AA in game, try forcing it through CCC instead.

New AMD Drivers Coming July 31st

This fix worked for this guy. Other people are saying it's a CPU problem, low CPU utilization causing the CPU to go into idle states, maybe disabling power states in the BIOS would fix it.

[VC] AMD Radeon HD 9000 Series Launching in October?

It performs like a top card should perform, but I can't say too much. Expect some weird news with the memory system, it's less like recent cards and more like good 'ol Nvidia big-die method. Ref cooler isn't even close to finalized yet, dno bout that

New AMD Drivers Coming July 31st

Supports WHAT on single cards? Lawl, there aren't any real issues (besides maybe FC3?) on single cards, what do you want it to fix

New AMD Drivers Coming July 31st

No improvements for DX9 or eyefinity, try RadeonPro
  8. S

    Intel's Iris Pro:

The only issue is it would be monstrous (ie. Titan die size for GTX660 level performance), cost more than anything Intel has ever sold commercially, probably use a significant amount of power, and have to rely on (improving, but shitty) intel drivers. Slice is not the right architecture to make...

[VC] AMD Radeon HD 9000 Series Launching in October?

Just about a month from today there may be a big event that you will be very interested in :p Specs are impressive, performance is based on clocks which aren't near final yet
  10. S

    Intel's Iris Pro:

Why would it be more efficient? Look at Iris vs standard HD 4600. They threw TONS more resources at it and got an "okay" performance boost, ~2x the cores for ~1.75x the performance? Even with the ESRAM cache. Intel tried to make a big GPU and that ended up turning into Xeon Phi. Their Slice...

New AMD Drivers Coming July 31st

New crossfire tech which may be showing up with Hawaii, was almost released with Bonaire but the tech isn't quite there yet. Uses some kind of PCI-E transfer, without additional hardware I think (considering Bonaire supports it), can transfer extremely large frames (4k etc.) without using...

[VC] AMD Radeon HD 9000 Series Launching in October?

No idea about price, but based on the Titan, it's performance is worth that... still don't think it will be >$700. If it's 20nm, could be possible as AMD will be using expensive risk production silicon, if it's 28nm (which is very unlikely for Hawaii), it will likely be much much less.

[VC] AMD Radeon HD 9000 Series Launching in October?

Eh, kind of close. Tahiti will end up in there somewhere, Curacao is mostly beefed Pitcairn, it's more of "new configs" (ie. different silicon) with the same arch rather than just straight up rebranding like GTX770.
  14. S

    Intel's Iris Pro:

That's the 5800k, not the 6800k. So the older fastest. Considering any Iris pro model costs $400+, I'm not sure why AMD should be concerned. For that price, you can have an i3/FX6300 and a 7950 and go around taking dumps on any iGP/APU.

New AMD Drivers Coming July 31st

TBH though, any game like Skyrim should be playing at extremely high FPS on any decent crossfire setup, and at 120+FPS even with runt frames it's still quite smooth... XDMA will use PCI-E, no more need for crossfire straps.
  16. S

New AMD Drivers Coming July 31st

Guru3d is full of visual issues at the top of the frame being interpreted as drops (those dropped frame spikes). They aren't actual dropped frames, just two-pixel long anomalies.

Xbox One Designed To Run Continuously For A Decade

Your confirmation bias is forgetting all of the old consoles that died right away... all of the weak ones were weeded out, and now you only remember the best!

New AMD Drivers Coming July 31st

This fix is based around standard CDMA crossfire which involves the crossfire band, once you hit a high enough resolution the bandwidth of the crossfire strap is exceeded, forcing the cards to use software compositing, which is glitchy and causes visual errors (but not necessarily microstutter).
  19. S

New AMD Drivers Coming July 31st

Eyefinity at large resolutions (above 1080p) will still have issues due to software compositing instead of CDMA, this driver can't fix that as it is more or less a hardware issue. Only XDMA support will help that. (what I'm referring to isn't microstutter, but rather odd frame-order patterns...

New AMD Drivers Coming July 31st

How much lower? Frame pacing will decrease FPS in order to smooth the frametimes, but only if your FPS is very high from what I know... aka >150.
  21. S

New AMD Drivers Coming July 31st

To be fair, in some reviews I saw Nvidia having the same issue... It appears like it may be something no amount of drivers can fix.
  22. S

New AMD Drivers Coming July 31st

FC3 may still have the same issues as single cards, with "spikes" in frametimes (from normal frametimes to ~100ms for example)... That's what I was noticing when testing the driver.

Microsoft No Longer Charges Devs To Patch Their Games

Or rather, people start launching games that are buggy and unfinished because they can patch them for free later. The size of the fee was silly, but having a fee in general was smart because it gives devs incentive to make sure the game is 100% good to go, rather than launching tons of little...

    8000 series speculation thread.

Current arch as in GCN? Yes, GCN is not going anywhere for a few years I would think. Hawaii is GCN 2.0, what's next will be GCN 3.0... and those are all the same arch.

Thrown in Microsoft 'Jail' For Taking Pictures Of Nothing

This just in, snooping around at events with unreleased hardware is frowned on. The guy never got thrown in "microsoft jail", he was asked to comply and did (because he knows what he did was wrong). I don't even see anything incriminating about the laptop, they were obviously worried because the...

Xbox Executive: Stick With The 360

I don't sell my used games because I only buy games I'm going to keep for a long time - I still go back and play COD4 or Halo 3, even though they are outdated. So selling games back just isn't for me. Exclusive games are crap??? There's a lot of Gears of War, Halo, God of War, Last of Us...

Xbox Executive: Stick With The 360

"Our" consumer rights? I'm sorry, I didn't realize the ability to buy a console gave you rights. Screw your rights, I'm all for my rights - and I like the convenience the One would offer me, and that's my decision. "Us morons" simply have different priorities than you.

Xbox Executive: Stick With The 360

I don't give a shit about check-ins, I mostly play multiplayer and my internet is rarely out (and I don't want to play my xbox in the desert or in Antarctica). I don't buy used games, I buy my games and I play my games (and my friends play their games, we aren't poor and don't need to share that...

Geforce GTX 780 get hot fast and throttle FPS

Well, it's what it's designed to do, but it's possible your cooler isn't up to snuff or something. All I can say is it is supposed to be running at 80C under load.
  31. S

Geforce GTX 780 get hot fast and throttle FPS

This is GPU Boost 2.0 working as expected. High boost until 80C (60FPS), hits 80C and drops clocks (but not fan speed, because Nvidia has quiet fan profiles) and then you lose the FPS. Change the fan speed curve with Afterburner if you want more performance.

New Updated XBox 360 Revealed at E3

Picture is fake obviously, copper heatsink above fan near power connectors is the same as the 7990 heatsink between the dies for VRMs(?). Definitely just shopped. Little copper bit in the upper middle look familiar?

    [H] users 7950 Overclock Results

I don't necessarily have a problem with Performance PC's support, what I do have a problem with is last time I made a $60 order I ended up with $60 in customs fees (I'm in Canada). I don't know what they do differently with their shipping, but I've never had to pay more than $10 in fees before...

AMD says “PC ports of next-generation console titles are likely to struggle” on Intel

Now, to give some context, that's a several hundred dollar i7 versus a <$200 A10-4600m... Which isn't Richland either, correct?

    [H] users 7950 Overclock Results

My 3dmark FireStrike results put a 7950 at 1200e/1600m at 8288 graphics score, compared to 6967 for a GTX680 (and 10,234 for a Titan). Stock score is 6477 for me.

    Haswell Hits 6.5GHz On LN2

Leaky transistors and long instruction pipelines. Although I don't think Haswell got any shorter than IB really, but longer pipeline chips like Bulldozer/Piledriver and Netburst-kind of stuff do much better under LN2.
