Another vote for the WRT54GL. I have 4 of them...configured as routers, APs, Ethernet bridges..all running Tomato. They are rock solid and last for years. I just got another one...sort of. It's a v2.0 WRT54G...so it is flashable...and I grabbed it for $1 at a neighbor's yard sale. :)
Unsure. That said, his username shows up all over the internet...including on many sites in Chinese...and he was a very active trader here:
http://www.head-fi.org/t/467103/wtb-akg-k340-k4-and-k145
Until he was banned. Not a good sign. Odd that he would stick with the same username...
Given that he stated that he received the case and then a dispute was opened, I would say one of two things happened:
1) He is in fact a scammer...and, if so, I cannot imagine why he told you that he received the case.
2) He used someone else's paypal account and that OTHER person opened the...
Agreed, but it looks like the case could use a LOT more protection in the box. I'm surprised by how little room there is between the actual case and the external walls of the box. I'd love to see an unboxing video to see how much protection there actually is. Sure seems like quite a few folks...
Since folks have asked before, just a heads up...I just listed the OEM fans and fan controller that came with my Arc Mini in the {H] "For Sale / Trade" forum.
Sells as a set:
Two (2) - 120mm (3 pin, sleeved cable)
One (1) - 140mm (ditto)
One (1) - Fan controller (single knob)
These are OEM parts from the Fractal Design Arc Mini that I just built...in which I dropped PWM Noiseblockers instead, which rivaled the price of the case. ;)
Perfect for...
This sucks. Sorry to hear about the QC problems folks. I wonder if reviewers will be getting off-the-shelf units or hand-picks cases sent by Corsair. I suppose that's why I take many reviews with a grain of salt...and instead listen to what the actual owners say. Frankly, it sounds like...
Personally, I don't want a dock on my case...since it limits my case selection and I am usually not happy how they integrate it in. Plus, that's just one more thing to go wrong...and I am then trying to get proprietary parts to fix it.
Instead, I have something like this...
I'd say you have more room :)
I don't work inside enough that I need an extra file cabinet in the office ;)
My stuff all fit in here very easily:
I removed the top hard drive cage since I didn't need it. A 256 GB SSD and 2 x 2 TB HDDs will suffice for now. ;) The mess at the bottom...
Can't agree more with the idea of getting two separate (but identical) 2 x 8 kits...since I just tested 4 new sticks and one was bad. Fortunately, I bought two separate 2 x 4 kits, so I only had to send back two sticks...but even that hurt...sending back one stick that I knew was good. On the...
Yep, the limited space behind the MB and space available for tower coolers are what drove me to the Arc Mini instead of the Define Mini. I think they are nearly identical inside, but the acoustic foam cuts into available space on the sides.
No doubt, the 550d looks awesome and very handsome...
:D
I didn't get a flat screen and bike until AFTER I split with the wife. :)
Wife number 2 let me buy more flat screens, but the new garage definitely has a lack of bike going on at the moment. ;)
Redbeard said it somewhere before - most folks change their case when they rebuild. Some do tear down and swap MBs using the same case, but given that it is far from the most expensive component in a build, most folks take the opportunity to refresh the visible part of their PC when they...
I don't believe that is correct.
32 bit versions of Windows are limited to 4 GB, some of which does not appear available to the OS due to devices using a portion of that address space. Applications in those OSes are also limited to 2 GB per running process (with up to 4 GB using additional...
Man, you guys are rough. :) Let's assume that he know what he wants. Some of us use VMs.
sram, I checked the qualified vendor list:
http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_1155/Maximus_IV_GENEZGEN3/#MSL
"Memory/Device Support" tab -> "Global" link...not "Global (DLM)"
...and...
You folks pre-ordering before reviews hit are adventurous. :)
I had hoped that a couple of 550Ds would have made it here in advance to select reviewers...but I suppose that we will have to wait. That said, it's way too big for me regardless.
I am in the small minority that just...
No argument that upgrading other components could be beneficial.
That said, he asked for a recommendation for speakers (his subject line)...and further qualified it to include a sub in his post. Of course, you can interpret it more broadly based on the "best sound set-up possible" line, but...
I would bet that you could plug an ipod into either my PM 2.1s or the M50W and compare either with the same source connected to a set of Logitech speakers and even an average listener would hear an amazing difference. The same is true for onboard audio on most MBs. I don't think that most...
Quake 3 Arena - played it for years. The game had legs.
COD United Offensive - so moddable...so many custom maps...thousands of modded servers still up and running 4 and 5 years after the game came out. The game had sprinter's legs.
COD 2 - also very moddable...with TONS of custom maps...
Bummer.
I researched the currently available Klipsch PM 2.1 system and you are correct. That just sucks. I just updated my review on Amazon...since they are still listing the updated system on the old product page...as if it is the same product. Yes, I just updated an 8-year-old review. :)...
Coincidentally, I am posting this from mine. :). The wife and I picked up 3 in the firesale...and love them. Of course, we have had Pre's since launch day, so we didn't hesitate when HP dropped the price that Friday night. I hope that open sourcing WebOS gives it a second life.
Not sure what the big deal is about showing your ID. It is well-documented that they and other retailers get ripped off by people returning things not bought there, pulled off the shelf while in the store, or replaced with a lower quality item in the box. They have a decent return policy that...
Two totally different games.
BF3 is broad, sweeping, rich, complex, and requires/rewards cooperative play.
MW3 is arcade-style just "drop into the action" and lay waste game play.
Different folks prefer different styles of play. They are apples and oranges. Most people favor one and dislike...
I know it's very popular to bash BestBuy...and might even make someone feel superior for knowing other sources that generally have better deals...but I just do not get anyone taking joy in the loss of another B&M electronics retailer and the resultant lower competition.
I'll say it here - I...
Seriously. The small SSD, only 16 GB of RAM, the case, and LED fans are what killed it for me. If you are going big, go big...but plus up the RAM and SSD, get a case worthy of the build, and drop the squirrelly LEDs.
$0.02
Agreed. Not sure where they got their baseline prices, but the WD Green 2TB that was available for 60 beans before the flood is selling for $190 on newegg now. I'm just glad that I grabbed it at BestBuy when they put it on sale for 79 beans this past November.
Count me in as a huge fan of WebOS...along with my wife. We each have a launch day Pre and love it. My daughter had one too, but jumped to Android.
We also have three TouchPads (85 beans each...what a steal!)...and the OS just plain rocks. Yes, app support is limited, but we have enough to...
I often hear folks say that it's not worth it and I am not sure how they can make such a pronouncement without first knowing how the system will be used. Fastman and the others are spot on. It depends on your usage of your system.
Most single apps won't use the additional memory, but it does...
It will definitely be faster...as seen in "The CrystalDiskMark SSD bench thread" at O C .net
...but it will also be twice as susceptible to failure. Of course, that is always the case with RAID 0. I'm not sure why the 'R' is in RAID 0 because there is nothing redundant about it. :) Just...
Some fairly bold (and unsupported) statements there, which I won't bother to dispel. I will say, however, that the difference between "Java" (or J2EE/JEE) and .Net is far more than a language choice - it is also a choice of ecosystem. The Java ecosystem has an unparalleled collection of...
Everyone loves the M4, but I went with the Corsair Performance Pro (256GB):
http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Corsair/Performance_Pro_256_GB_SSD/
"It looks like Corsair did some magic tweaks to the Marvell controller's firmware, as their Performance Pro 256 GB is the fastest SSD we tested so...
