Tyan S7012 Locks up when two CPU's installed

I have a Tyan S7012 motherboard that I have been using for awhile now as my home server. When I first got the board, it came with two Xeon E5530 CPU's. I used it for about a day and then it would lock up and I would have to reboot it and it would work for another day. I removed one of the...

Can't logon to Horizon View Desktop with Persistent Disk User Profile

I found out that I had a GPO that was blocking access to "removable drives" and apparently this is considered one of those. Once I removed that GPO, everything worked as it should.

Can't logon to Horizon View Desktop with Persistent Disk User Profile

The Z hard drive shows up fine, but it says I don't have permission to access it.

Can't logon to Horizon View Desktop with Persistent Disk User Profile

Nope, that's not really how it works. It doesn't treat the Z drive as a mapped drive really. View composer just adds a second drive to the VM so it shows up as another physical disk.

Can't logon to Horizon View Desktop with Persistent Disk User Profile

I setup a new desktop pool in Horizon 6. This will be used for supervisor level staff that need their same desktops each time they login. The pool is set for linked-clones, but with persistent disks for user profiles. I set the user profile to be stored on a persistent disk in the Horizon...

    HP SAS Expander Owner's Thread

Is there a way I can check to see what version firmware my HP sas expander is running without having an HP raid card? My HBA is an LSI MegaRaid SAS 9260-16i.

What are my options to expand my RAID array?

Yes, the 14x2TB is all one array (one logical disk).

What are my options to expand my RAID array?

Ok, that sounds like a good plan. Anyone have any idea what SAS expander would be compatible with my card?

How can I start using an expander now though since I've already used all the ports on my raid card?

What are my options to expand my RAID array?

I have a home server that I use for storing various things and I'm getting to the point where I need to expand it's storage. Here's my current configuration: Case: Norco 4220 (holds 20 hot swap drives) RAID Card: LSI MegaRAID SAS 9260-16i OS Drive: 120gig SSD plugged into motherboard SATA...

Is it possible to change cluster size without loosing data?

According to Minitool Parition Wizard, I should be able to accomplish this using their cluster resize tool.

After resizing partition using acronis, drive is not formatted.

I was able to successfully shrink the partition back down to less than 15TB and I'm able to use it again in windows. I used minitool partition manager to accomplish this. I think my next step will be using this same tool to change the cluster size to 16k, and then expanding the drive.

Is it possible to change cluster size without loosing data?

I have a need to expand my storage volume above 15TB and my current cluster size is 4k. I need to increase that to 16k, but I don't have the means to backup this amount of data. Is there any way to do this without having to reformat?

After resizing partition using acronis, drive is not formatted.

Using an LSI MegaRaid SAS 9260-16i card. Firmware 2.120.183-1415 I did initially have a cluster size of 4k.

After resizing partition using acronis, drive is not formatted.

I've got a server that hosts files (mostly video). It had 8x 2TB drives in it, and I just added two more 2TB drives bringing me up to 10. After reconfiguring the RAID array, I went to expand the drive size using the server 2008 R2 manager. I was told that the drive couldn't be expanded because...

    OS migration to SSD

Hey guys, I have a server running 2008 R2 on a regular SATA drive. I'm not sure if the BIOS is set to configure the drive as AHCI or not though. On this drive, I have my OS and some applications loaded. Now, I just bought an SSD to replace this drive, and I need to know the best way for me...

    BBU Learn Cycle?

Hey guys. I finally added a BBU to my raid card. The card is an LSI SAS card. I am trying to configure the Learn Cycle properties of the BBU, but I'd like to know what the best practices are for something like this. I can set automatic learn cycle to enable or dissabled. I can also set a...

    Smidley's Home Server Project

All I store on there is my media files, so RAID 5 makes sense. Won't loose everything if one drive dies, and won't be the end of the world if multiple drives die. Luckily, I bought these drives while they were still cheap. :)

LSI MegaRaid Optimal Settings? Raid 5

So, I just made a change to the write policy on the raid controller. It was set to Write Through, since I don't have BBU on this controller. But then I set it to Write Back mode. Now when I copy files it's WAY faster. It starts out at over 1GB/sec and then goes down to around 300MB/sec...

LSI MegaRaid Optimal Settings? Raid 5

I've got my new server up and running, but my drive speeds seem a bit slow. I've never used an LSI raid card before and there are tons of options, so I was wondering if anyone had any advice as far as how I should look at the settings. I have the LSI MegaRAID SAS 9260-16i card. And using the...
