Hi guys,
I bought a brand new ViewSonic VX2758-P-MHD 27-inch 1080p 144Hz 1ms gaming monitor.
Now if I scroll vertically fast, I can see some annoying ghosting lines:
Same in games too when scrolled quickly:
I tried several DisplayPort and HDMI 2.0 cables (all certified) and messing...
AMIBIOS from 2009 should support USB boot. If you can't see it, try unlock hidden options with Shift+F1 / Alt+F1 / Ctrl+F1 while in the BIOS menu.
Suppose to be in Advanced > USB Configuration.
USB devices should appear in Boot > Removeable Drives.
In Windows 10 build 1803, Microsoft made some kernel changes related to hardware timers that broke a lot of device drivers and caused high latency, stuttering and audio distortion on many systems. Microsoft claimed it was fixed on several occasions but is not completely true. Here are several...
FurMark was improved over the years and now features several 3D demos in both OpenGL and Vulkan.
PhysX demo, Tessellation demo, VRAM burner, and artifacts scanner to detect the tiniest artifact that the human's eye can't catch.
It is no longer "power virus" as people claim. Only cards with...
New threads related to unstable overclocks and defective hardware pop up on a regular occasion. It is often asked how to stress test some component. Below you'll find my top picks after weeks of testing - updated for 2020.

X58 motherboards are resilient... almost like WD 80GB IDE HDDs. Uncore voltage is the killer of the platform.
There are plenty of BAD guides on the Internet claiming "1.35v is fine! DDR voltage doesn't matter as long as its in the 0.05v from QPI/VTT".
Your config is totally wrong:
* QPI data strap also matters and should be higher than uncore but less than 8 MT/s.
* For Westmere, it is better to push DDR clock high as possible (increase timing if needed). Uncore can be in 1.5x-2x ratio.
* QPI/VTT voltage should be maximum at 1.3v for 24/7...
Realtek stopped publishing new audio drivers on its website and now uses Microsoft update.

Make sure to sort the list by pressing on "last updated" and grab the 100+ MB file.

In Windows 10 build 1803, Microsoft made some kernel changes related to hardware timers that broke a lot of device drivers and caused high latency on many systems. Ever since then, Sound Blaster Z / Zx / ZxR series are plagued with issues such as audio stuttering, crackling, popping, and sudden...
This is rubbish.
Almost every CPU can run Crysis without a GPU in windowed low-resolution software renderer.
Above is a 10-year-old Xeon W3680. Runs exactly the same like Linus Tech Tips.
I tried 2 DP cables, one came bundled with some monitor, the other purchased separately and supposed to be DP 1.4 certified.
Possibly a bad batch, I've seen a few reviews on Amazon mentioning 'electric sparks' and such.
And yes, it is the same card you linked to. If you overclocking, try to...
On November 26th, I bought an XFX Radeon RX 580 GTS XXX Edition 8GB (RX-580P8DFD6) from Amazon. The card was on sale for a special price of $189.
After I installed the card and plugged in the monitor (ASUS VG248QE) via DisplayPort, it started buzzing, despite the fact the PC was completely cut...

Windows 7 may lack support for USB3, NVMe, DirectX 12 and some more. But at least, it doesn't install CANDY CRUSH SAGA without the user's permission. :X
You could host it on a secondary HDD or small partition with adjustments to grub.cfg, but its a matter of time until Gigabyte will release a fixed BIOS for your mobo.
I suspect the BIOS (Gigabyte) is to blame for this. Intel took their time QA all microcodes.
So, it took Gigabyte almost a year to release BIOS update for Spectre and it came out 'broken'. :D
You're lucky... use this: https://hardforum.com/threads/intel-microcode-boot-loader.1970313/
If the builtin microcode won't work neither, get an older version from...
The Linux SMP kernel is a lot more sensitive to CPU overclocking than Microsoft Windows.
Errors appear a whole lot faster. 6 hours of Linpack on Linux is like 24 hours of Prime95.
The video above demonstrates the superiority of Linpack Xtreme versus the latest version of Prime95. The...
In early 2018, security researchers discovered several security vulnerabilities affecting all processors: Meltdown and Spectre. These vulnerabilities allow speculative execution side-channel attacks (CVE-2017-5715, CVE-2017-5753, CVE-2017-5754). While Meltdown was resolved with an OS patch...
Stress testing unstable PCs from within Windows always posed a risk of corruption to the OS registry and files. But now, thanks to Linpack Xtreme for Linux and the lightweight Porteus Linux, you can stress test without those worries anymore. The bootable version of Linpack Xtreme integrated on...
Linpack Xtreme is a console front-end with the latest build of Linpack (Intel Math Kernel Library Benchmarks 2018.3.011) developed and maintained by ngohq.com. Linpack is a benchmark and the most aggressive stress testing software available today. Best used to test stability of overclocked PCs...
