Asus Xonar Essence STX ... I'm unimpressed

One of my Essence STX's was a Newegg open box, and its been solid as a rock w/heavy usage on it. Hopefully it stays that way.

    Headphone experts, please chime in!

Depends what music you listen to. I went w/the Ultrasone Pro 900's and I couldn't be happier... Coupled w/an Asus Essence STX its incredible.

    Xonar STX op amp recommendations

Ya know, I use the OPA2134's some ppl hate (but I also use Ultrasone Pro 900, which works so well w/these) so it depends a lot on what cans or setup you'll be using. I prefer the stock opamp when I use my HTPC's setup of a Carver M200T+Event 20/20 Monitors and a 12W 350W JBL Sub.

    Considering an upgrade

If your PSU is that bad I'd definitely go SSD, its the feasable upgrade.. that or upgrade that PSU and videocard.

Need advice on what to buy for new build (gaming)

You could always do the 20th Aniv pentium as a placeholder CPU. Use it and game your heart out while you save to upgrade to the i7 chip.

    Corsair VX450W enough?

Theres no way I'd run that on the PSU.. esp if you plan to OC, and add extras.

    Budget Build

I had issues with the 20th aniv pentium. It ran SC2 and Chivalry great, but seemed to hiccup sometimes in other games. I suspect things working in the background knocking it or.. I don't know. This was w/a 4.6Ghz OC on a stock 280X so.. take that for what it is worth.

    Asus Z77-A: Anyone?

My major gripe about motherboards now is the power array, lots of cheap crap. You've got to make sure you choose a good board w/solid power delivery above many things. The Z77A is one of those boards. I had the microATX version that couldn't push the chip past 4.2. Now I have the Maximus V Gene...

Only if you're doing image editing or some sort of other creative need.. If you game or.. well do anything else its a pointless waste of money.

Is it worth to move into Apple Ecosystem?

Uhh no its completely terrible.. Want to load your pirated music on your 'iphone'? Its a pain in the ass.. oh by the way can't transfer it back or share w/friends using a USB cable either. Prettymuch no upgradability, if you're a gamer just kill yourself, and WHYYYY:(

Help Needed For Picking MOBO and MEM

Asus as always has been the best, the ROG series is pain free and strong and I've always had issue with other boards. As far as videocards go, I've been loyal to my 7970Xfire and 280X in my PCs, simply because they are so cheap to obtain and the performance is quite excellent for anything up to...

    AC Adapter question

I'd be checking your thermals on the laptop, because when unplugged it won't load nearly as much as it will plugged and that is probably the issue.

Asus Xonar Essence STX ... I'm unimpressed

I know this is old but I couldn't help myself but to reply.. The Asus Essence STX is surely the best soundcard I've used in a PC by miles. That is gaming included. I use two different setups in my two computers, one is an HTPC and is set up in a very unique way. I have TV Audio to input of my...

Looking for a card in the 1-200 dollar range, lower if its not half bad. Higher is fine too if you've got a good price. Going into an i3-2100 PC so it doesn't need to be insanely powerful, but, if you've got a solid card at a great price I'm interested!
