okay, I can take the Seagate 80gb from my computer and make it the OS drive on the htpc. i probably won't be doing any encoding, and anyway even if i do I can just schedule it for overnight, i'm not worried about that.
any thoughts on the M-Play 202? experiences, good or bad?
hmm, thats a good point. I'll see if I can find one lying around somewhere.
I was thinking the MCE remote that comes with the DualTV tuner, but I was just looking around and saw this, which could be a good remote plus gets rid of having an external receiver. profit?
I'm trying to stay cheap, but I do want quality. The below comes to $740 total, with a couple things on sale.
Antec NSK2400 (comes with PSU)
Asus M2NPV-VM (6150 chipset so onboard video)
Athlon 64 3000+ (AM2)
Corsair ValueSelect 1gb(2x512) DDR2 533
Seagate 7200.10 320gb
NEC 3550A

coding is pretty much the only time i listen to trance or electronica. i agree with the lack of lyrics, they're distracting.
Classical music is great for writing papers, but when I'm coding it puts me to sleep. weird
I'll play around with that, I'm somewhat limited by the logo but it could be better.
Hmm, doesn't do that on mine, the header part just expands down. The alignment I know is off, I'm waiting until I actually have the real text in there to fix it since I don't know what the final width will be...

Short Version: totally new design, basically complete. just looking for comments
New site for my organization, that I've been coding in my spare time. It's finally ready (almost) for launch, and I wanted some outside thoughts. This is a way for my org...
greatest keyboard ever :) yea i do the same thing every couple months or so, keeps it from building up. i also soak the keys in hot water for a while then use a qtip to clean them.
what version of excel? If they still have program/file open, then there might be a temp file still around somewhere. if they've closed the program, then yea its probably gone. sorry :(
Try turning on/off the hardware decoding in PowerDVD, that can sometimes cause problems.
Also, I use VLC to play DVD's. Its not quite as polished as a paid DVD player, but it has some cool features and doesn't display the video artifacts that I keep getting in PowerDVD.
Yea I have a rebate for $60 on a monitor from Newegg that still hasn't shown up on the website. Of course, the last time I did a rebate it showed up on the website the same day I got the check in the mail, so whatever. i'll probably call about it pretty soon.
for debugging actual code problems, you can use the w3's service, at http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/
for other issues, my experience was that most of it could be fixed by playing around with different settings and options. I found that when in doubt, cut out code. The less code there is...
i've been using a program called PSPad, it has syntax highlighting and file tabs and direct ftp, which is nice. couple of annoying bugs tho, and no code snippets that i know of
hmm...you could probably use Ghost or a similar program to image the drive, the flash that image onto the other drive. I don't know of a simple method for bit/bit copies, god knows windows can't do it.
i have to confess, i lol'ed at the processor, $1135....with a $10 instant rebate!!! wow, i'm saving so much money! :p
sorry, just find that funny. My response to something like this is, spend $2000 for a rig that kicks ass and then you have $1000 to do something else with. Or build two...
personal opinion stuff...you could get a SATA drive for not much more, you have 4 SATA connectors going unused on that mobo.
/fake edit
Western Digital Caviar SE 250GB 3.5" SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM for $103, or the 16mb cache version for $110. seems a worthwhile upgrade to me, but...
my instinct is to say...spend $2500 on the gaming computer, $500 on 1or2 monitors, and then spend $1000 on another computer to be the server. having the server seperate gives you a lot more options. Now you have two very nice computers, with $1000 left over for upgrades later on. Or if it's a...
also, if you keep an eye on the hotdeals forum and slickdeals/etc, there are always good hard drive prices out there. I think I saw a 160gb for $20 AR the other day...so it can be cheap
building my brother a new computer, he doesn't play games at all, but he does have a lot of music equipment that will be hooked up at some point. There will be a good sound card added to this later, therefore. Does this sound good for him? getting it from zipzoomfly
Antec Solution Series...
really? with this design, I actually prefer the left alignment to centered. Plus, I can practically guarantee that no one looking at the site will be over 1280x1024, probably not over 1024x768.
it's mostly there so I can continue checking to make sure the code is still valid as I change things...
http://www.seektheeout.com/ is my personal site, which has a few bugs that I need to fix.
http://www.seektheeout.com/heroes/ is the new site i'm coding for work. Still a work in progress, but will end up very similar to what is there now. current work site is http://www.oaklandheroes.org/
yea, it is. sorry
made a bunch of changes, including making everything relative sizes instead of fixed which was easier than expected. and doh, when I convert the page into php, i will add the mimetype thing. thanks.

New site for my office, no content or other pages yet, just the basic design with filler text. Looking for comments of any sort. Advice on the page header (Welcome to Heroes) would be especially useful. Thanks!

1) it says "Invalid Name Error"
2) When I do Debug>Compile VBAProject, it flashes through and doesn't pop up any errors.
3) I put N82E16828112035 in cell A1, and =GetEggPrice(A1) in another cell. I double checked for things like spelling errors, etc.
I really don't know whats going on, i...
Process Explorer
i love that program, its a nice CPU graph, great for explaining and killing random processes, and free! only catch is after a long time being open (1hr+) it starts using resources heavily, don't know why. still great.
yea, but price matters most for the market, and if i remember correctly they screwed up the pr but good.
expensive, and there wasn't a huge need for larger size than floppies before cd's came along anyway.
most people don't have the equipment to notice the difference, also that was an industry...
some do, some don't. depends on the drive.
it sounds like a read/write head is busted on the drive, or maybe a platter itself, meaning an RMA. sorry dude. One last thought...try booting with a bootdisk into a DOS environment (or *nix, whatever) and see if you can get it working at normal...
check the jumpers if the drive has any, try reversing the cable, try a different sata port.
however, since seagates are supposed to be pretty quiet, that sounds like a problem to me. I would download seagate's diagnostic tools and use them to run a check.
i would look at it this way -- 6 months from now the camera will be the same price probably, while the computer parts will have dropped by a fair margin. So i would get the camera and enjoy it, and later on upgrade for less money.
i don't think there's any way to fix that. It's due to the page being resized once a picture is downloaded and appears. if the site was well written, then they have size descriptions for the image to allow it to be sized correctly at the beginning, but on forums thats pretty much impossible. my...
i'm sorry to admit that i used the free version of mcafee provided by my university until i switched to nod. *shudder* dark days, dark days -- but then i saw the light!!! I also got tired of reformatting every 2 months because i got infected.
one of the very few programs I actually pay for (no not warez, just freeware), and well worth every penny. I don't even worry about a virus getting through, because in 3 years of using it not one has.
