Mine is silent as well. Happy with it now, however, I had the older style mounting kit and had to shim the backplate with some rubber spacers in order to properly set the block to the cpu. Without the shims it was simply not tight enough for proper cooling. I also ended up removing the TIM and...
Got it mostly running last night at stock speeds. Updated the ASRock bios to 1.6 before I installed windows. Had to reseat the memory a couple of time to get the entire 6gb recognized which worries me, but it's working fine now. Ran prime95 all night without problems. That case is REALLY nice...
I finally got all of the parts in (besides the SSD which will be here tomorrow) for my new build!
This is what I choose...
Lian Li PC-K62B Case ($120) Mwave (from ebay)
ASRock X58 Extreme MB ($170) Newegg
Intel i7-920 CPU ($292) Mwave
Corsair XMS3 6GB DDR3 1600 ($145 AR) Newegg
Corsair 850HX...
I got lucky and found a 5850 in stock at mwave.com on Monday. It was only in stock for about 10 or 15 minutes but I was lucky enough to get an order in. It should be here today. It's a Sapphire brand but who cares. I was shocked to see it in stock. It was really just dumb luck on my part. Keep...
I got lucky and found a Sapphire 5850 in stock at an etailer (for about 15 minutes) on Monday. Should be here tomorrow :D They sure didn't last long and it was dumb luck I was able to grab one.
I am going to save and wait for a 5850, I don't see much point in going with the 5770 right now. I'll either delay building this thing or use one of my 8800gt's until I can get a 5850 if I just can't wait to put it all together. I building this more for pleasure, and like I just told my brother...
I went with the 850HX I just really like that PS for some reason. I think I'm going to go with Corsair ram as well. The XMS3 CAS 8 is only $160 with a $10 rebate and free shipping. That will leave me about $180 to $200. I'm still trying to decide what to do on the video card.
I just noticed ZZF has the 850HX for $173 http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=10010457 with a $20 rebate and free shipping. Shipping on that seasonic is $15 so it's makes it basically the same price before the rebate. $153 for the 850HX seems like a deal to me.
It will be a few months at the earliest before I could go to 1080p. I know with $500 to spend right now, a 5850 is out of the question. Would a 5770 now and adding another later be good enough for 1080p when i get there? Or should I just wait a few weeks and save the extra money I would need to...
Yes I want a quality gaming rig. I do other things but consider it a gaming build. As I said I've already bought the parts I mentioned and I have about $500 right now to finish the build. I buy from Newegg, Mwave, ZZF, wherever i can get the best deal. I'm in Indiana USA baby! LOL
Ok so I'm building my new system. The one I'm typing on is my old AMD x2 4200+ with two 8800gt's in SLI. I do some gaming of course, watch some video's , blah blah blah. Basically this is my hobby and I've been messing with computers since my dear old dad bought me a TRS-80 model 1 when I was in...
