Advice on what CPU to Pick Please

A board that took around 2 hours to auto route, it now takes about an hour. On importing a STEP file and Solid Edge turning it into a solid assembly with mutable sub assemblies, its a little more then half the time. Its definitely faster then my stock Q6600 system that was over 3 years old...

Advice on what CPU to Pick Please

Not to sound like optimist, but I remember when the 975 chip set came out and it was supposed to handle the the new quad cores that were coming out. Well, it did not and they had to revise the boards to get the quads to work. So, I would not wait it out or base a decision on the 6 core chips...

Advice on what CPU to Pick Please

I just built a SFF system for 1000$ for mild gaming and cad work. Its not an over clocker, but it has enough speed to last 4 years other then a video card upgrade. Its also quite and uses less power then my q6600 system too boot. 109.00 SILVERSTONE SG03-B Black Aluminum MicroATX Mid Tower...

8800gts died - need to replace; thinking about the 5770 sapphire

Yea, its not much of a step up and at those resolutions, and it will have have some what of a hard time if you run any game over medium settings. (5770) But, if your MB has 2 PCIE video slots, you could always buy a second card and run them in cross fire. Another nice thing is, you can run...

How to get data from laptop HDD

That adapter that is on the drive in the pic, pulls off of the drive. What you need to do, is go to the drives manufacture website and look the drive up to see what kind of interface is has. EG PATA or SATA. It will also show you what its connector looks like. If it looks like a standard...

    5770 vs. 4890 @ 1440x900

I run a 5770 with a Samsung 932BW 1440x900 LCD, and it runs fine. It's definitely faster then my overclocked 3870 toxic card. If your going to run CrossFire down the road, I would go with the 5770. It will scale the same or maybe better with drivers, and use less power then the 4890.

    SFF gaming rigs?

Hi Yossarian, Being new my self, I stuck to a mATX for my first SFF build over building a ITX system. It will allow you to run SLI or XFire and water cooling if you are a heavy overclocker. Most cases will also take a full size card, like a 5870 or a 285 video card. The ITX systems are a...

Can you think of a better upgrade package for 715 euro? (1070$)

Hi Danny, I would look at the G Skill ram at the same speed over the Corsair, it will be just as good, but with out the price tag. One other thing, you could buy the triple channel kit and then one more stick to mach, but it may wind up costing you more then buying a dual channel kit in...

Help With Shuttle Build SX38P2 Gaming Rig

Since your going with the Silver Stone SG03 case and may be want to run SLI, I would go with the P55M-GD45. The PCIE slots are in the right spots (Slot 1 and Slot 3) for a 4 slot chassis. For the power supply, the Antec EA-750 is the one you want to use. If you want to spend a little more...

    Voodoo and Voodoo 2 price?

Wow....Babbage's! I remember them, I bought my first games from them, Doom and Duke Nukem. I had 2 Voodoo's as well in my Cyrix PR200 system. The system consisted of 2 Voodoo 2's in SLI, PR200 CPU, 16Mb Ram, Creative SCSI CD Rom, Microplus 12GB FULL size SCIS HD, 3Com Ethernet card...

    Purchasing new PC

Well you could buy from a large PC chain and get stuck with some thing that you may not be able to up grade down the road. Or, you could hit your local mom and pop PC shops and get them to build you one that you could upgrade down the road. Allot of people over look going this way or have...

    mATX LGA 1156 Motherboard

If you are using just one of the 16x slots, your 5870 will run in 16x mode. If you add another card, it will run them at 8x in both slots. With the i5 and i7 1156 LGA CPUs, the PCIE 16x bus comes from the CPU it self, and not the P55 chip. Intel system link...

    mATX LGA 1156 Motherboard

It looks like a good mother board and it dose not have a bunch of legacy connections on it. I would see if you can find reviews on it and see what they have to say. Just a note, if you are planing x-fire or sli in a SFF build, make sure the second PCI-X 16x/8x card connector is in the 3rd...

    SG-03 build feedback

I just got building a SG03 my self. and found that if I have my power supply fan draw from the side vent, it runs quieter then from inside of the case. My temps only changed about a 1 to 2 at idle and 3 to 4 under a full load. You may want to try it and see how it works out for you.

    Yet Another i5 build thread

If your not going to over clock, I would look at i7 860 over the i5 750 CPU. It will give you more bang for the buck. I would also drop the aftermarket CPU fan, the stock one is just fine, and I would also think about going with a smaller modular power supply (500-600W) if your not really...

Windows Home Server & NetGear WNDR-3700

Did you check to see if the router allows loop back? Some router do not allow the LAN to loop back thru the wan. So what you may need to do is have a friend try to see if he can remote access in. If he can not, then you might have to set a port for the remote access.

    Basic Cisco Equipment

For used Cisco equipment, look at ciscokits.com and dsl reports cisco forums. For equipment to get, I would not look at any thing less then a 2950-24 switch with the enterprise software. For a router, I would look at the 8xx series, like a 871-sec-K9. You can generally pick these up...

    2.4ghz e6600 stuck at 1.6ghz

There is a warning flag on Intel's website about compatibility with the BIOS and maybe a board revision in the processor chart. So I would try the latest BIOS and see if that fixes it.
