The power supply on my son's PC went out the other day. I sourced a power supply locally, but forgot to get the modular cables from the guy.
Anyone happen to have a spare laying around that I can buy?
I'm looking for this (I think), but can't find anyone that sells just that SATA cable. I've...
All is well. I removed the CPU block and reapplied paste after cleaning it up.
For those say the DC-LT doesn't have enough flow, I disagree. I've been using a single DC-LT for years and haven't had any issues. At one point I had 2 7970's, a FX8350 and 2 UT60 280 rads. The pump has never had...
I went with this fan configuration because my thought was also exhaust air from the rads. Is that not a good idea?
I'm running 4 Thermalright TR-X Silent 140mm at 800RPM with 60CFM.
The pump is a Alphacool DC-LT running at 11.7 gallons/hour.
I tried playing with the side panel off and ran into the same issue. Temps go to the 70's after about 20 minutes of gaming.
Should I try flipping two of the fans to draw air in?
I'm not sure what's going on. I've run basically the same loop for a couple years. I did move from Italy to the US right before this issue occurred. I've never really done any heavy gaming, but have recently gotten into GTA V. I feel like this loop should be enough to handle the hardware, but...
Haha, the ultrabook did not, under any circumstances, like the apple pie. My wife forgot to add flour to the pie (not the crust, I guess floor is used in the gooey part), so when she tipped the pie on it's side, to show it to the webcam, the pie exited the pan and was fed to the ultrabook...
I haven't been able to find a NUC that didn't have WiFi preinstalled. Additionally, the costs don't really justify the hardware.
When talking about gigabit internet service and/or moving terabytes of data, there are differences in Intel NICs and Realtek, onboard or otherwise. If I were to...
My wife fed an apple pie to my ultrabook. I salvaged the msata SSD and mini-pcie wifi card. I'd like to put them in the smallest possible PC I can build. It's be great if it had dual Intel NICs in the event that I turn it into a pfsense box, but this isn't required.
It will be mainly used...
I owned an Ergohuman for a couple years. I regret purchasing it as it wasn't worth the hassle. I had to replace the base (the seat part three times) due to mechanical problems. Then the mesh got so stretched (I weight 180lbs.) so badly that my butt actually rested on the frame below the mesh...
Fair enough. Thanks for the help.
I looked at that AMD download for OpenCL. It was tested only through drivers 12.10, so I was nervous to mess with it as I'm on 13.x now.
I'll check this out. Thanks.
They are the same make, model and brand even. I use dual cards for gaming. There's no chance I'll be removing one of them.
I know this is a really specific problem, but here goes.
Here's a example.
When using Photoshop CS6 x64 with the "Use Graphics Processor" is turned on, some photos (maybe 1 in 1000) will have black artifacts in it. If I open the photo in Picasa, GIMP or Paint, it doesn't have any...
Drivers are already updated to the latest, 13.1. I have contacted AMD via their website and twitter with no response.
Hm. I bought the cables from MonoPrice.com. DisplayPort is a digital signal, isn't it? How could a bad cable cause this?
One is monitor-side HDMI to computer-side mini-displayport.
One is monitor-side displayport to computer-side mini-displayport.
One is monitor-side DVI to computer-side DVI.
YouTube video of the problem.
I didn't post this in the AMD Flavor area because I wasn't sure if it was AMD specific.
I am running PLP on 2 x 7970 AMD with the latest (13.1) drivers. I use it 10+ hours a day for work and gaming and never have this problem. It only seems to occur in the...
Just what the title says. I have an FX-8350 under water and want to know if the 280 x 80 Monsta can handle me putting two 7970's on it as well. I'm running 4x140 in push/pull.
I really only have watercooling for the sound reduction during the normal work day. I don't mind the fans and pump...
381/129 != 1000/1000
I don't find people being dismissed from college for stealing intellectual property to be "ridiculous." I guess I'm not that impressed by your wilful disregard for other people's intellectual property.
I have to agree with this. You might want to double check what your university considers "legal." I know a few people that were kicked from school for sharing stuff over the network. This was back when Napster had just come out, but still, they were dismissed from school.
The Windows CD Key label wore off on the bottom of my Asus 1215n. I called Microsoft to have them help me and they directed me to Asus. 45 minutes on hold and the Asus rep said that I would have to use the recovery partition to reinstall Windows. I told him that wasn't available because the...
Thanks for the pointers. I tried exactly what you said on Sunday and it helped a little, but not enough to increase the voltage I could run the pump at.
What voltage do you run your pump at?
5 paragraph order coming right up.
I'm running a Alphacool UT60 280, Alphacool NexXxus XP3 and Feser 3/8" ID tubing. I will research cavitation. This is the first I've heard of it so can't say either way if that is the issue.
Thanks for the feedback.
It's not bubbles. I wedged a "deflector" in to the reservoir to stop the pump from being able to draw in air. I ran it full blast like that for two days and it never quieted down. It's a design flaw in the pump that running it at anything over 4.8v causes it to grind like my wife's blender...
I've noticed that the res had crap inside the channels cut in the acrylic that has broken off and disappeared in to the loop. I didn't notice it when inspecting the res before installation, but I can clearly see that burs and junk left over from the machining process have been eaten by my loop...
Here's a link to a Google Image Search
For the portrait version, I just doubled up the height of the landscape one. Not super professional, but unless you are looking for the seam between the two, you can't see it.
When the res arrived it had a plug in one of the pump mounts, so I assumed I was supposed to mount a single pump in the other slot.
There are zero instructions anywhere for it. They also don't include screws for mounting the pump which is fairly annoying.
I agree that it is cheap, but that shouldn't relieve it from being a product that works, especially since the reservoir has no moving parts.
I did fill it over a bowl. The problem isn't that I didn't fill it, it is that it can't be filled 100% through the fill port. The fill port is recessed...
First of all, thanks for the help. This is my first time watercooling, so any feedback is appreciated.
I've run it nonstop for about 72 hours now.
It's impossible, as far as I can tell, to get the res more full than it is. The fill port is in the center in the top of the res, in a recess...
There aren't any bubbles in there. I used a small hose to prime the pump and force all the bubbles out.
It's a full on rattle/grind.
Also, even though I forced all the bubbles out, you can see in the video that at 75% "full" the pump is able to suck air in from the top of the res.
Since I work from home and am at my desk basically 24/7 I like for my computer to be silent. Before I moved overseas, I had a house where my PC and server sat in the closet and were silent. Now that I don't have that luxury, the aircooled PC was simply too loud. I decided to watercool my rig...
