Thanks BassDX. I think the deciding variable on whether two monitors could be daisy chained to a single DP output from the MBP is the monitor, not the MBP. Seems it needs DP in and DP out, which it doesn't have.
Seems clear to me that I don't understand how to OC this card yet. What can I rely on to report actual speeds? Not at home right now but I'm nearly certain that Heaven/Valley were showing 1400 (when I had it set to +146) during benching! I also misspoke above - it's GPU-z that reports a boost...
Sigh, looks like I lost the silicon lottery. Even with 103% and +63 in Afterburner my card can't handle more than +146 to core speed, which Afterburner reports as a boost speed of 1100. Temps max out around 70-71. Been reading the 780 Lightning thread in the Nvidia forum here and wondering if...

One question for anyone who knows the answer - I've been considering getting a couple of 1080p...
Sorry to crash the Lightning thread but I have some OCing questions about my MSI Gaming TF 780 and I don't see a comparable thread for it. I learned from reading this thread that GPU-z doesn't report voltage accurately. Is there any program that does? I've been using Afterburner to OC but...
Got my card but seems that I can't increase the voltage. Increasing the core voltage in Afterburner doesn't seem to have any effect. When the card is under 99% load GPU-z shows the VDDC at around 1.00 - 1.02V regardless of whether core voltage is at +0 or max (+62) or anywhere in between...
After nearly an hour waiting in chat queue I got someone, only to be told that it was "scanned" and would be given to UPS soon. When pressed on when it would ship she said "maybe tomorrow or the day after." Still says "packaging" on Newegg. I was/am also afraid that they ran out of stock and...
Placed my order over 24 hours ago and it's still "packaging", anyone else experiencing similar delays? I feel like it's never taken this long on NE orders in the past. In the chat queue for assistance but it's 170 people long.
For anyone considering an upgrade right now and frustrated with the 290/X situation, you can get $50 off at NE using Masterpass. See the thread about the MSI 780 in the Hot Deals forum.
Yeah, apparently impossible to resist, hehe. Would have been a tougher choice with non-ref 290s coming out in the 400-450 range, but given the state of things, seemed a no-brainer for someone who wants to upgrade before the holidays.
Might try again tomorrow, may depend on who you get for chat help. No idea how consistent they are or how much room they have to make exceptions for people who ask.
Finally got customer service, was told this:
Thank you for holding. I apologize for this inconvenience. This promo code was force ended due to that the redeemed amount is over the total discount amount limit. The promotion is while supplies last. Therefore, we are unable to honor you the promo...
Right, games aren't there, but Masterpass still isn't working. Even when I select it as my payment option I get "The promo code MASTERPASS has been closed and is no longer active." when I try to check out.
Oh, I hadn't signed up for Masterpass, I thought it was just a discount code. Signed up but now that the game bundles are back it's time to wait and see.
I have been eagerly awaiting non-ref 290s too, and this is frustrating, but it makes no sense to me to blame Newegg. When products you sell are regularly reselling on eBay for $100+ what you sell them for, you have to raise your prices. I haven't shopped around but I can only assume all major...
MASTERPASS appears to work initially, but when I get to the final order confirmation screen it shows as $499.99 and the following message: "There is an issue with promo code MASTERPASS. Please check promo code again or contact customer service."
Yeah it does, would be a damn shame if cards aren't out in the next couple weeks. Haven't had an Nvidia card in a while but may go for a 780 if non-ref 290s don't look imminent soon.
Best options are R9 270X for ~$200 or GTX 760 for ~$250. You may be able to get a 7970 for around your target price if you're patient or willing to buy used.
I recently moved from 1080p to 1440p so I know this 7870 won't cut it. Looks very likely that I'll be getting a 290 once the non-ref cards start coming out. Hard to carve out any time for gaming right now anyway so may as well wait for the holidays!
This is Spurs - wasn't able to log in under this account until I was on a computer that had the password remembered. Here are my options in BIOS - as you can see, no LLC option
Suggestions appreciated.
I've completely forgotten my password but I'm still able to log in as I let Chrome remember it. However, my email address on file is completely inaccessible so I can't change my password that way. I need to update both my password and email address but can't do either.
Let me know where to...
I understood the risk of flashing a 6970 bios and was under the impression that this was not what I was doing - all I wanted to try to do was unlock the shaders, that's it.
I can open the modded bios in RBE. Under the "clock settings" tab, there are five columns named "Clock info 00" through...
I did install the newest drivers before trying to unlock. After the failed unlock and BSODs, I uninstalled the card and drivers with device manager while in safe mode.
I have the Powercolor 2gb 6950 with two heat pipes. I was unable to unlock using RBE as it's a non-reference card. I then did the following process:
Step 1) Download ATI Winflash: http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads..._2.0.1.13.html (The newest version has been reported to not work).
2)...
Nearly certain I know the answer to this is "no", but it's safe to assume that neither this monitor nor a BNIB 6950 with MDP output will include the DP cable, correct? The 6950 comes with a MDP to DP adapter but as far as I can tell, no DP cable.
Just called CC, they told me that you can exchange defective products within 30 days. I pressed for clarification of what "defective" means, ie number of dead or stuck pixels, and the rep repeatedly told me that it means whatever I say/think it means. The only thing I can find in writing on...
My Circuit City order shipped. I looked and looked for info about their return/replacement policy and didn't find anything concrete... hopefully I won't need to test it.
