Yes.. its a used cisco. Normaly we use it for larger LAN partys wit around 450 players.... together with a Catalyst 6000 series switch and some 3524XL for the users...
Hmm.. we were around twenty people. That's why you absolutly need a Cisco Catalyst 4006 and two HP roliant DL380 :D
Actualy we used the 4006 to get 48 Gbit ports
My Server is running on "Windows 2003 Server"... There are also 2 ethernet interfaces. Im monitoring one, because the other one is for admin use.
Its absoultly no problem to monitore the ports with MRTG. Just enable SNMP on your machine and find the right OID for the ports (MIB Browser will...
If your Device is SNMP ready (almost every managed network device) i would recommend MRTG like "atmoiser" said...
MRTG Homepage
Its easy to set up if youre familiar with textfile based configigurations and html (only for the layout)...
I use MRTG to monitore a gameserver...
Gameserver Status...
Not realy screenshots... but also a nice overview of one of my servers...
I built this the last week to monitor a gameserver...
Server Monitoring Page
Main Page
Im still working on it at the moment...
Edit -> new URL
FIber or laserlink would be the best solution. If you use normal cat5 then you will need some more equipment to save both sides from voltage differences (dont know how it is called in english  ) between the buildings which could destroy your hardware.
Wireless is not save and also...
Uhhh... very nice setup... i love those SUNs :D
And even portable... the new size in the networking and server area will be 1 pallet instead of 1 U
I dont think there are any rackmount cable modems. Normaly they are used in home enviroment without racks ( -> Networking gallery shows the opoosite  :p ) For professional use you will get a router with the cable modem hardware included. There are some Cisco UBR Routers for this...
hmmm... unfortunatly im not realy familiar with VM ware in larger installations (with cluster and load balancing)... could you try to connect to the server via the webinterface ? Maybe you can restart your vm from there...
Ahhh... sorry. Of course i saw the pics before...
Racksolutions has some nice stuff... but no HP to IBM rails... I didnt cut my rails today, because i think it still wont work :( I have to design my own mounting brackets now...
The newer version of the rack has the split doors. I want one of the preious ones with the single door like Blitzrommel's.
I found some interessting stuff on http://www.racksolutions.com during a short research... Maybe i go for a heavy duty sliding shelf...
@Blitzrommel
Do you have...
RrrrrrrrrRRrrRRRrrrrrrRrrrrr.....
Is it one with split Backdor ? I have an eye on our local ebay clone www.ricardo.ch... maybe i can find such a HP rack
Tomorrow I will take two of my rails to the metal shop at work... cutting them a bit :D
Hrhr... i got some spare room beside my Rack :D
But you would have to come over to Switzerland -> cheese, mountains, snow, chocolate, watches and of course banks (with tons of gold stored inside the mountains!!!)
First I tried to create the spahes in Adobe Illustrator and export them to Visio. That didn't work very well.
Now i use Visio to draw them. It is a little bit complicated due to the few tools which are included in Visio. But you get used to it after a while
This is a closeup...
Maybe we could change Racks :D
I will talk to a mechanician this week. Hopfuly we will find a way to create some adapters or another solution to use the existing rails. Otherwise i will use some standart rails. Would it be possible to post a picture of your solution ?
Now for some new...
No update from my side at the moment. I was busy redoing my website today :)
Thanks for the link. I think i have to create some rails by myself for my Compaq-Server to IBM rack conversion... Or i could get a CPQ rack... But then my IBM Netfinity wouldnt fit anymore... :(
Thanks for the info. Maybe you should show a picture of your setup to the salesman. I believe that many companies out there dont even have half of your equipment :D
Wow.. That looks nice !
I'm planing something similar at the moment. The new Server will be part of my lab. I just need a way to mount it into my IBM rack... How did you do this with your Servers ? Sliding rails or smething ?
Ahh.. ok... :D i wasn't shure...
The server (used) was about 485$ I got a spare powersupply with it. Normaly DL380 G2 Servers have a CD-Rom installed. Mine has got a DVD/CD-R :)
Uhhh... some nice Compaq Stuff :) I have also got a DL380 G1. The drive-cage on the right of you image is realy nice !
Sorry for my question, but my english is not very good  ... what does "How much did this stuff run you?" mean ?
I love the Proliant Hardware, too. Its designed realy...
Some Server Pics... not realy network... but there are two ethernet interfaces !!!
I bought a used Compaq DL380 G2
Front
Inside with top cover removed
Front with Disks
The server had no iLO Board (CPQ/HP Remote management card) when i bought it...
Well... i bought one :D
