My 290x in 2D mode is 11.63v with a Corsair TX 950 that will be 6 years old come March.. my 290x is the Sapphire Tri X New Edition with 6 phase power design.

If the price is right then these will sell as it's an improved R9-290 with 1500Mhz ram.. look at the Fire strike score as my 290X NE is around 12,300 stock so it's close to 290X performance .

I have a Sapphire Tri X 280 that I use TriXX software on.. it will unlock voltage for you.

I had not noticed any issues.. but after reading this I fired Sapphire Trixx up and made a profile and I have always like that part of Trixx as feel it's the best for fan speed vs temp range as it scales up or down as needed to control temp.

It's not my type of game so I really don't care what Nvidia waste there money on as I am waiting for DX 12 games as we have been on DX 11 way to long without moving forward and I am not buying into Gameworks or the overpriced DX 11 cards.

My 290x ($270) new runs the same as the 390 and overclocks to the 390x as it is very important which 290x your talking about and bought as mine is rated at 375watts (2 x 8pin) connectors without any throttle issues.

Just because something overclocks better does not mean better performance if the AMD card scales better.. now the 7950 gpus are not all the same as later editions was better but the 280 edition was more like the 280x as it ran a much higher voltage then the 7950's and would overclock to 1200Mhz...

My Corsair TX 950 watt supply is almost 6 years old and has been worth every penny as it has ran HD5850 CX /HD 7950 CX and a 290x .. every video card has been rock stable on a power sucking X58 platform..

I never played fallout /2/3 or 4 .. but I do play some games that Nvidia has had there dirty hands in for awhile and in do time AMD will fix it.. I play WoT and AW WHICH has never look at that great on Nvidia (770GTX) hardware for me but the 290x is jaw dropping in the Nvidia game.

If you have never tired iRacing sims in Eyefinity then you missed the whole dam party.. notting can compare to Daytona or Tally at 190mph plus live with real people racing all around you 2 and 3 wide.. you wreck someone and it's just like real life (NASCAR) as they will hate you..

I have not seen the black screen issue on my 290x and my memory (Samsung) is clocked at 1350Mhz factory.. Now .. I would uninstall the driver the way AMD says to and then run DDU to uninstall anything that was left.. power down and pull the card ..then reset the cmos as to get the DMI data...

The 390/390x is based off of a newer board design and why we see the extra performance as it overclocks better and doesn't throttle the clocks.. but if one was a smart buyer then they would of bought the Sapphire Tri X 290X New Edition based off of the same board design of 2 x 8 pin connectors...

It would need to have a life span like the HD7950>R9-280/7970>R9-280X which is going on 4 years and can still play DX 12 games and offer performance gains over that 4 years.. The 970 has big shoes to fill to match those cards..

If you really want 4K then the number one question to ask .. does it have HDCP 2.2 as this is like a handshake between TV > Roku 4 >(up coming 4K Blu-Ray players)> 7.1 Home surround system all have to have HDCP 2.2 on the HDMI 2.0 or the handshake is broken and it will not work.

We may be able to game at 4K using our computers but watching 4K movies via our computer is a different story as it has to have HDCP 2.2 on the HDMI 2.0 to do so.. dose Nvidia have a work around?

I was having issues with 15.10 beta as World of Tanks would show the game as purple.. I had to uninstall the driver like AMD says to first and then I used updated DDU.. now 15.10beta work prefect on desktop and gaming.

I had 15.10 installed to run the benchmark but when I tried to play World of Tanks my screen was purple .. so I rolled back to 15.7 and purple issues is gone and 15.9 and 15.9.1 beta both ran World of Tanks just fine.
