Saw this today in the store and looked it up online. Seems like free money unless I am missing something?

You probably need to reinstall unless you are able to trim that 500 gigs down to below 40 then use a cloning tool. I don't think any of those tools can take out just windows.
Pretty simple to just install fresh on the SSD. Plug it in, boot windows from the cd, tell it to install to the SSD...
^They both use the exact same actual panel from LG, the LM240WU4. I'm not sure how much they differ in the firmware(? not sure what to call it). People seem to buy whichever is cheaper :p and the u2410 has certainly been bouncing around in price. I'd personally go with the dell for the warranty...
Right out of the box without any configuration, yes, people in movies will look a bit more sunburned than intended. I am 90% sure this can be corrected through either proper configuration (on the video card driver side of things) or some software but don't hold me to that.
You've probably already done this but just go through the logitch setpoint thing and fiddle with all the settings. I think those drivers just 'push' the settings directly to windows so it may be the culprit independent of uninstalling them.
I think he means he had the card out of the mobo but still connected to the PSU and turned it on, which as far as I know is fine (if not meaningless).
If the fan doesn't spin by default then the card is bad I'm sure.
Double check you are using the proper power connectors to power the video...
Primary display is right infront of me as in option 1. Other display is to the left of that and angled appropriately. Sometimes I run the 2nd in portrait mode.
Would drive me crazy to have the divide directly in the middle of my field of view.
It seems theoretically doable but really it's just a difficult technology to tackle up due to the pure bandwith that displays require. A typical 1920x1080@60 hz is something like ~3gigs a sec of data which is perfectly doable for DVI and HDMI of course but as far as I know, wireless still tops...
The fan on my 8800 died the other day so (with barely any research) I went to best buy and randomly picked up a BFG 260gtx that was on sale (~$140). Wasn't expecting much but I actually got some pretty decent boosts, around maybe 40% I'd say on average. I don't play anything super demanding, though.
I haven't seen the u2410 in person but I think they are extremely similar for all practical purposes.
As mentioned above, however, the dell ultrasharp warranty is the best in the business by a long shot, if that matters to you.
Usually dell gives out huge baseline discounts to people (companies) who have bought a lot (many many thousands $) of dell stuff already. Not sure exactly how it works though.
The best buy near my house hasn't had a >$250 panel in quite a while. Last 'cool' thing they had was that pva lg a while ago. Wish they would carry some non-tn stuff but I wouldn't get my hopes up.
This is a TN panel still, just lit differently. Not sure if you were confused or weren't being specific, but yeah it's not a new type of actual panel, it just doesn't use backlighting.
IPS has several advantages over TN, and some disadvantages, it's a pretty big subject and you can google it or...
I mean non-OS, just run of the mill applications.
My office folder is only 700 megs, though, and photoshop is 1.7 gigs. I dunno?
I have a lot of other production software and I'm barely breaking 10 gigs in my program files folder, guess I'm weird.
Agreed, unless you play a lot of games, I doubt most people have more than, say, 20 gigs of actual application "stuff". Rest of your media can be stored on whatever cheap external HD.
Some games can be pretty problematic, though. There are a few MMOs that can get into the teens of GB usage easily.
I was using realtek onboard audio (gigabyte mobo) for a while, it was alright, but I randomly found a soundblaster audigy card from 2001 the other day and popped it in my system. It's genuinely a lot better sounding for whatever reason. The bass is particularly better.
I think you can still download the release candidate and use it til March or whatever. It's equivalent to ultimate afaik. A little birdie told me that you can also do certain things to prevent it from deactivating, or so I hear.
I'm all for people not buying this monitor, if I have to replace it in 3 years (for free still) there will still be some leftover and they won't try to push some random 2012 TN on me :p
Dell doesn't have service plans on monitors at all as far as I know, just regular warranties (which happen to be the best in the business). Beyond that, most dell panels are actually made by LG. Dell computers may or may not suck (I have no idea) but I don't think anyone on this forum would care...
