Thank you for your your reply.
Yes, I might give a try.
However, I don't think adding another pump would change anything. The NexXxos XP is very restrictive, so the fittings and the tube are. Adding a second pump in-series would increase the pressure head but would only result in a...
Hi,
I got my PC recently upgraded:
Intel Core i5-3570K,
MSI Z77A-G43 (will be replaced),
2x 4 GB Crucial Ballistix Tactital (1866 MHz),
2-way CrossFire of Sapphire AMD Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition.
All being overclocked and installed in a Zalman HTPC case.
On the other hand, I have...
Did you read my entire post?
I was not "forced to", but NEC first generation MultiSync 90 are hardly available here. Not to mention the huge price gap between the 'conventional' and SpectraView versions: are a hood and a colorimeter so expensive Mr. NEC?
I'd like to see these monitor...
Hi albovin,
I paid £1286.85 (i.e. €1398.76 / $2050.98) for monitor, hood, colorimeter (X-Rite i1Display 2), shipping (UPS) and VAT (15%). Is that expensive? Yes, it is.
However, the situation is very different here, in Europe.
For example, the LaCie 526 that you mentioned costs at least...
Hi,
I recently bought an EIZO ColorEdge CG243W graphic monitor.
It was calibrated with the EIZO ColorNavigator v5.2.3.6 software and an X-Rite i1Display 2 colorimeter. Here are my first impressions:
Gamut: Despite EIZO announces a 97% coverage of the Adobe RGB colour space (xy), the monitor...
My Radeon HD 4850 512MB (Sapphire) has two DVI DualLink outputs.
Since my monitor (HP LP2480zx) only accepts 30bits over HDMI and DisplayPort, I tried with the supplied DVI-to-HDMI adapter and an HDMI 1.3 cable.
Unfortunately, I found no trace of a "30bits option" in the driver.
The monitor...
Hi,
I am looking for a video card that supports 30bits (10bits/channel) output over HDMI or DisplayPort.
I know that video cards have been using 30bits RAMDAC for a long time. However, in practice it seems a bit more complicated.
Cheaper is better.
I have no specific requirements in...
*VA and IPS monitors are rare and expensive here, in Europe.
From my experience, in France most shops only have TN monitors in stock. If you want a *VA or an IPS, you have to order it. And most of them are much more expensive here than in the US.
Yes.
The A-TW polarizer, the ability to get very low brightness level and finally the ability to switch between different color spaces were appealing...
Right...but I can't switch for the monent.
I think that the "blotchiness" results from the RGB LED backlighting.
Actually, in the absence of local correction (that you highlighted;)), deviations in the LED characteristics can resultat in a difference in color temperature.
The question is...
You are perfectly right.
Actually, I sold a lens and increased my budget up to 950.
I could not find an "old" NEC with an A-TW polarizer, and therefore I decided to go for secondhand HP DreamColor LP 2480zx for £811.33 (946) in the UK.
I can't switch, because I can't be refund and I can't sell a monitor with such a uniformity issue.
The NEC MultiSync LCD2490WUXi² comes with an LG-Philips H-IPS panel too, does'nt it?
Hi,
I bought an HP DreamColor LP2480zx monitor.
The unit was in revision GHG001, July 2008, made in China.
It suffered from important color temperature variations accross the display. With an X-Rite i1Display 2 colorimeter, I measured a difference of 1120K (!) between the two left corners...
All LCD suffer from brightness and color temperature variations accross the screen. I just got my - very expensive - HP DreamColor LP2480zx replaced becaused of that.
But I agree, manufacturers could specify a tolerancy (brightness +/-XX%, color temp' +/-XXXK).
Most contents (websites, photographs, movies...) are intended to be viewed on sRGB/Rec.709 displays. Displaying them on a wide gammut monitor will produce artificially vivid colors.
As far as I am concerned, I think that an increased gamut in greens and blues can produce pleasant results. But...

Actually, I got it from Demand-IT, a division of Added Dimension Ltd. (UK).
Added Dimension Ltd. website is ugly, amateurish and above all completely outdated. The Dimension-IT (equipment hire) and ex-Demo Sale (and I guess, ex-hire sale) websites look hardly better. They simply do not inspire...
Hi,
I would like to thank you all for your help.
Finally, I decided to increase my budget and I just ordered an...HP LP2480zx.
In fact, I got a used unit from an OEM evaluation programme, for a fairly good price (£811.33 shipped).
I hope this unit is in perfect condition, as it is supposed to...
Do you know where I could get it for a good price?
I live in France (Europe), but international orders are no problem.
You just have to take the potential additional charge - we have a 19.6% VAT here - into account.
Of course.:)
For the moment, I am waiting for some quotations of the NEC MultiSync LCD2490WUXi (first version).
Unfortunately, the first prices I got just confirm that I couldn't afford it, even buying from the US (French VAT (19.6%), currency change fee (2.5%), custom fee and shipping cost...
I would be very interested in such comparison!
I am afraid the dark tones not to be very consistent on the whole surface of the monitor without the A-TW polarizer.
Precisely, I noticed some "glow" in dark uniform backgrounds on my ex-Dell 3007WFP-HC (IPS), moving depending on the viewing angle. (I was not reflections of room lights.)
This phenomenon clearly affected the consistency of dark tones, producing brighter and warmer areas, like well illustred in...
Thank you for your post.
Is the difference so important between a S-PVA panel and a H-IPS panel without A-TW polarizer?
(For example, NEC MultiSync LCD2490WUXi2.)

Danny B
Thank you for your help.
Could you please take your pictures from the same distance as you...
Unfortunately, it's very expensive.
The NEC MultiSync LCD2490WUXi2 (w/o A-TW polarizer) is sold 891.25 + shipping.
It's 750 shipped from Deutchland...
Hard to say if there is any shadow details on this photograph on the very mediocre monitor I am using now.
I'll try to find the three turtles picture of albovin.
IMHO, it is a good benchmark.
I am also interested by a good place to buy a NEC MultiSync LCD2490WUXi or LCD2490WUXi2.
I live in France, but international order is not a problem as far as seller accept to ship to France.

Thank you for your quick reply.
Actually, I was referring to gamma and color shift depending on the viewing angle. (Sorry if it was not clear, but I am not a native English speaker.;))
All *VA monitors suffer from this problem. The question is: can it cause problems with color sensitive tasks...
Many thanks for your feedback Danny B! :)
How does the EIZO S2242W perform in terms of viewing angles?
Did you notice more gamma or color shift compared with the HP LP2475W? In dark, mid and bright tones?
Did you also notice "black crush" in the center of the screen, or a significant gamma...
A few words concerning sRGB and "wide gamut".
For the moment, my photographs are "printed" on Fuji Archive Type 1 paper with a Fuji Frontier 370. The resulting gamut is pretty small:
(I found this on Google, but the ICC profile provided by my lab shows pretty the same.)
A few colors in...
Thanks again for your replies.
The A-TW polarizer is supposed to do a lot of difference. I saw some NEC MultiSync LCD2490WUXi (first version) versus HP LP2475W side by side comparative photographs and it was edifying!
Even in daylight conditions, I think it could improve color consistency in...
"Wide gamut" is not an issue for me.
I will use this monitor for photographic work only, i.e. with applications that use a color management system. Therefore, display won't suffer from oversaturation.;)
For the moment, my photographs are "printed" on a Fuji Frontier, whose gamut hardly goes...
