Yeah, but it was worth a try.
I just wished each european customer would ask for a new replacement in the first two weeks. Just to let NEC now that it's not OK to sell such devices.
I guess in the store it wasn't that quiet. In my room (if it's quiet) I can hear the noise slightly up to 1 meter in front of the display.
I just got my new replacement model and it has the same noise.
But it has no dead pixels so I think I'll keep it and live with the noise.

Yes, R,G,B and white screens can be tested with Eizo's Monitortest utility for example: http://www.eizo.de/pool/files/de/Eizo_Monitortest.zip
Or just use an image editor ...
Thanks! (because in the OSD this can't be seen - not even in the advanced OSD)
So I guess if my replacement (noisy or not) will be a 2009 model then I have at least a new firmware :)
I'm not sure on this. I have this noise on my 2490 running at 240V. But I could swear that also people from the US (120V) were having this problem here in the forum.
I'll get a new replacement in one or two weeks. But I'm sceptical ...
Of course, the SV models are the same displays bundled with the "SpectraviewII" software and a colorimeter. In Europe you get "Spectraview Profiler" as software which is totally different from the US "SpectraviewII" software.
I already wrote it in another thread - it works. Why shouldn't it?
Confirmed by "Flusel" on PRAD forum: http://www.prad.de/board/monitore/testberichte/testberichte-monitore/24-zoll-monitore/nec/42888-nec-lcd2490wuxi-prad-de-user/first-new-post.html
For the german readers:
Today I've just sent a mail to NEC about the noise issues:
Also got a response some minutes later saying
So let's hope someone really cares and does something about it ...
Just got a call from NEC. Will get a new 2490WUXi in about 2 weeks. Nothing available at the moment. They also offered me a 2690 in silver but I don't want a wide gamut display nor silver as color :D
I also asked the woman again about the known noise problems on the 2690WUXi -> She also...
For this you don't need the advanced menu. Just remember that this isn't a global option but a per-resolution setting. So you need to set it up for each resolution. Of course the display will remember all the settings ...
I agree with you on that. But there was at least one guy here on the forum from Europe who didn't had this noise problem (on his 2690 or 2490).
Let's see if my replacement will have the same problem. If it has I think I'll let it "repair" by NEC.
Obviously they don't even have new...
So no screws or sticky tape is required, right? That sounds good. Now I need to find a shop that has it in stock and which can ship internationally ...
You are a lucky guy. I got my 2490WUXi last monday here in Germany and it produces noise which I can hear in 1m distance in front of the panel :(
Btw: Anybody know where to get the plastic hood in Germany?
Seem to be identical. A guy at Prad just calibrated his one with SpectraviewII. That's what you wanted to know, right?
I also got my new 2490WUXi last monday (from tftshop.net). And of course it has this horrible noise problem. I can slightly hear it at 1m distance in front of the display...
I guess I'm one of the first owners in Europe. I got a new 2490WUXi last monday. And of course it has this horrible noise problem. I can slightly hear it at 1m distance in front of the display. So that's not cool.
