Hey guys,
So I've been looking around on a bunch of the modding websites and noticed that radiators are outrageously expensive compared to vehicle radiators.
Is there any reason someone can't use a vehicle radiator?
Are PC WC radiators more efficient and thus the price?
What other kinds of...
Looks like people are getting nice results with the heatkiller but I cant find it anywhere for purchase. :(
Is there anything for less than $50? I'm also in need of a water block for the HD4870 1GB.
haha, whoops, smooth on the outside.
Yeah I have a drill press and I see what you're trying to do there but I don't know how well it would work on the outside of a 3/8th tube.
Basically I'm attempting to build my own radiator.
http://www.hardcorecomputer.com/ProductConfigurator_productReactor1.aspx
looks like hcpc's reactor series is provided with it's own warranty from hcpc.
I never trust any reviews on newegg or the like. There is no incentive for people to write valid things about the products and on top of that, how do you trust a random schmoe for an educated review? The systems is just overly susceptible to fanboizm so I don't trust it at all.
A pointer in a...
If something goes bad, just drop it into some isopropyl alcohol before you return it. haha :D
This kinda brings up a new thought. All these companies selling oil immersion tank cases. Has anyone ever seem a disclaimer that they void the warranties?
After alot more research and pointers from you guys I think I may have settled on this
Antec Signature SG650 650W due to it's stability and efficiency.
That's been a question floating around in my brain for a while now. I'm seeing this oil stuff catching up but it sure doesn't seem like something as extreme as that would be valid in the warranties.
Don't get me wrong, I know they are more stable in oil than in air but I'm sure all that glue...
Hmm, Newegg nor google is showing up with nothing less than 850w for the revolution. A bit excessive it seems. Is that the lowest option?
I haven't even bought the memory yet so I can't tell you my opinion. I chose it because of Tom's Hardware DDR2-800 shootout. When I checked the price I found...
Hey,
Currently I'm building a:
DFI LP DK P45-T2RS+
Q6600
Patriot Viper PVS24G6400LLK
HD4870 1GB
Sony Optiarc BC5600S
and either an Intel X25-M or OCZ Vertex 120GB
I figured that a 500 to 600 watt PSU would do the job so I'm more concerned about PSU efficiency.
Anyone have some suggestions...
Ok obviously I constructed the question incorrectly.
When disregarding the stock heatsinks/fans and using a waterblock, what is the best quality 4870 1gb?
I know that some makers will skimp out on capacitor quality and other construction techniques to save money, so does anyone know which...
Is there any performance difference between hose two models? I'm not intending to overclock it unless I'm gonna see substantial performance gains if I do but all the research I've seen has said otherwise.
What kind of applications will use more than 4gb? I've never owned more than 1gb and I...
Does Win XP 64 recognize more than 4GB?
Currently I'm deciding between
Corsair XMS2 TWIN2X4096-6400C4DHX
Patriot Viper PVS24G6400LLK
However I'm leaning twards the Patriot because the only difference I can find is the Lifetime Warranty.
Thoughts?
Great project log! Always been a fan of these types.
My only suggestion so far would be to put the hot liquid inlet at the top to it takes the hottest material away, otherwise it looks like you might just get a cold loop going on the bottom and the only cold stuff on the processor would just...
Hello,
After reading Tom's Hardware review of the 4870 512mb maker comparison it seems like the only difference is operating temp.
Since I'm going to be using a chilled water system this will be a bit of a moot issue.
Does anyone have some input on the cheapest average price vs quality...
As an Indie developer myself, I just came.
This cleans the programming end up a shitload which means faster development time with less bugs.
Pure awesome.
Hello,
After spending a couple hours in the search I've come up empty handed with this question.
I'm looking for some 2x2GB DDR2 800 and am not sure what to get, so what is the best memory to use with a 3+ GHz Q6600 and a DFI P45-T2RS?
The DDR2 1066 appears to not be worth the money as there...
Yeah I doubt I'll go with crossfire.
On the DFI board you provided it says that the memory speed overclocked is 1200, but is that 1066 modules or 1200 modules with just the board speed altered?
I've never done any memory overclocking so I don't know how this bit works...
Well other than the "2oz of copper!" and heat dissipation I'm not seeing any advantages the EP45-UD3R.
Hm, I'm having trouble finding consistent information on the DFI DK series, mostly because I'm not understanding the differences between the P45, X48, T2RS and T3RS versions.
Anyone know of a...
Now is memory overclocking essentially equivalent between the P5Q Pro and EP45-UD3R also?
How much does the Gigabyte's DDR2 1366+/1066 affect the processor speed compared to the P5Q Pro's DDR2 1200? Is it a tangible difference with programs?
Is the P45 boards wattage use less than the other...
I've had this nick since like '03, but was originally gonna go with JoeAverage haha.
What are the various advantages and discrepancies that the P5Q, EP45 and P35 have against each other?
-Joe
Yes I used the search! :P
I'm having trouble differing between all the different mobos out there and need a couple pointers.
Essentially I'm looking to get +3GHz out of the 6600 which appears to be pretty common, but I'm also confused about all the FSB speeds and Memory OC stable speeds.
This...
Hello,
I haven't been having much luck in finding good phase change resources.
Currently I'm just doing as much research on it as possible to see if it's worth my time, money and effort.
The websites that I have been finding like www.xtreamsystems.org appear to deal mostly with custom...
Thanks for that link!
I know there are different types of memory for laptops but some laptops can handle regular memory, etc.
Is there any way to differentiate this on that website?
Hello,
I have a laptop that I want to upgrade my memory for and I can't find the Motherboard Specs for the life of me.
All I know from CPUz is this: Alienware Aurora m9700 AB04
...and that's it. Currently it's running 2x256 DDR 800 and it's just killin me.
Does anyone know where to find the...
The reason I usually go with ASUS is the higher quality components and stuff like that.
Those heat sinks are just insane on those cards there. I am planning on making some chilled water cooler blocks for the card and I feel like I would be paying $50 for those stock heatsinks alone.
I'm...
Hmm...
So lemme look at it this way then, If I get a 4830 (single) now and then just OC it for a while, then a little bit after the 4890 arrives snatch up a 4870X2 and selling the 4830 would most likely be my best bet?
Heck, I don't even know if my coustom case would be done by then since I'm...
