As the subject says.
I have G34 processors for a 4P and need a Supermicro H8QGi/6 or H8QGL that can utilize the [H] BIOS. I can buy new, but I'm giving folks an opportunity to unload one if they want to.

I'm in for two or three shirts whatever you guys do.
All respect Skripka, but I'd like something a bit more artistic than what you've got posted there.
Do we have any artists lurking?

I looked at colo briefly when I started my gpu farm, and granted gpu is a different kind of beast.
The colo guys took one look at my home built hardware and shut me down. They want to see nice shiny easily understood servers that just plug in and go. Plus I was going to need frequent access...
Thanks guys! Sorry I haven't responded sooner, I've been out of the country!
I have a couple of 4p systems to put together this weekend too... :P
Atlas Folder
Thanks guys. But really I just think about output not passing people. Most of the time. :-)
For those that got passed, step it up! Let's be #1 by Christmas!
And ... More is coming. I have CPUs for 3 more 4P systems coming. Atlas is back.

Thanks, Filter. It's a pleasure to be folding here for [H]
Where'd you go? Let's get you back in gear. I took a break too and I needed it. I'm rejuvenated now though ;)

Actually the WUs that benefit Huntington's directly are SMP. But the gpu WUs in general do research related to HD. Bigadv only works on influenza at present. It's important research too of course, but not close to my heart like HD.
And like anyone else I can't specify the WUs I want. :-/...
Oh, it's not a big deal. I didn't feel demeaned or anything. :) I'm just stating my reasons.
I appreciate that people think about ways to improve or lower the costs on my farm, it's flattering to me. Thanks.
Atlas
Well it's more complicated than that when you're in my shoes. Really.
First, I won't lie, GPU folding on this scale is a jolly pain in the ass. Doubling down on it for what would be another three+ years is a daunting prospect. Witness this, a fragment of my farm in HFM from just now (click...
Hey ROC, of course I remember you too! I took a break but couldn't stay gone. :) Glad you stopped by. When are you going to get back in the game?
Atlas Folder
There's an intermittent bug lately that causes the folding client to fail when your system has monitor shutdown enabled. I've experienced it on my home folding system. If you disable monitor shutdown it fixes it (did for me and others).
I turn my display off when I know I'm not going to be...
Well that's very nice of you to say. The science really is important to me. But the competitive side of me lusts after the points as with most (all?) of us. I will be adding some 4p bigadv folders, but I will be keeping my gpu farm for now which will slow my buildout down. But I'm fine with...
I have the racks at my business. I had three 3-phase power pulled into the server room for this purpose. I then bought 3-phase power distribution strips from APC that break the three legs of the 3-phase power into single phase for the racks.
The electrician thought I was crazy pulling that...
Yeah, after a bit of soul searching I've decided that I won't be taking my GPU farm apart. I'm going to add 4p to what I currently have. I'm personally more interested in the science that is currently being run on SMP and GPU than bigadv. It's not *all* about points.
Huntington's Disease...
Yeah the heat this thing puts out is impressive. Each shelf is about like a hair dryer on high since I run the fans at 100%, so I usually liken it to a wall of hair dryers; that's really what it's like.
Total energy consumption of the machines in that photo is about 13,000 Watts continuous...
Good eye. That's the server. All of the other machines' folding data are hosted on that machine, therefore, I kept the work load low. This allows a central management point for config files. It's changed a bit with V7 clients, but the management method is documented here for those that care...
Thanks for the welcome guys! Mmmm beer and tamales. I know what I'm having for lunch now!
For those that don't know me I've been folding for about three and a half years now on my GPU folding farm I named "Atlas Folder". I have a blog that I occasionally post on. I joined [H] because as I...
I'm following this closely, let me know if I can assist.
I noticed this while searching for the 7040 boards that you mentioned. A linux file check-in with this description:
IB/ipath: Drop support for the original QHT7040 board The original QHT7040 had
significant performance issues so there...
That does look familiar. Yes I plan on reusing the racks, PSUs, hard drives, etc. All I need are motherboards, CPUs, RAM and time.
Of course I'd love the cards to keep folding but will want to convert them to cash with which to buy 4P hardware.

Sorry I wasn't arond irc, had to take my dad to the hospital. He's okay but Huntington's is taking its toll on him. Infection and probably an overnight stay.
As for folding I'll be taking my GPU farm apart tonight. I'm going to sell the cards cheap, so if anyone is interested in 9800gx2s...
I'm working out the logistics of parting out my GPU farm and going 4P bigadv. Main reason I haven't already is the sheer effort involved. However, the GPUs have become increasingly unstable over the years and require practically constant maintenance to keep going. I think it's high time I...
Sorry I'm a latecomer to this thread, but the basic reason that I haven't transitioned to SR-2s doing bigadv is pretty straightforward.
1) I'm waiting to see what nVidia comes up with as a dual GPU option utilizing the Fermi architecture. Since I have the motherboards and PSUs to drive this...
My family has a small electronics design and manufacturing business in Tulsa, Oklahoma. We design oil and gas pipeline instrumentation.
No, GPUs don't do any work that's more Huntington's disease related that I know of. I just wanted to build a farm that Stanford could use that would do the...
Yes I am running advmethods on GPU3. I haven't done anything special besides running the latest nVidia drivers. I'm running on XP x64 but OS is making less and less difference nowadays.
That said I've got a handful of GPUs that either won't fold or that EUE a lot or will EUE on specific WUs...
It's described in the first minute or so of this video I made, but no they're not attached to anything. I looked long and hard for an open shelf that had the ability to do that but never turned one up. There are some more elaborate motherboard trays around now that I might use if I were...
