the quadro is definitely a more stable set up but I couldn't bear spending the extra $3k on very little performance boost. All the benchmarks point to the gaming card for a lot less money you get comparable performance anyway, thanks for the comments

I decided to keep the Monitor when I found the adapter from MonoPrice. I figured there was no real benefit to returning it as I'd have had to pay shipping both ways and end up paying another $20-$30 bucks for a different monitor. So, it all worked out with the $80 (now $98 with the adapter)...
