Razer Deathadder -- Disabling frwrd and bckwrd in browser?

in the software it shows the five buttons and what they do. i imagine just get rid of the windows button 4 and windows button 5. i'm not home so i can't try it out but it makes sense in my head to just assign those buttons to nothing and it should work. i just checked and you can turn the...

TRUE on i7 920 stock temp, is this normal?

i forget what average stock temps are but that doesn't seem too high to me. i'd just go ahead and install but i'm just guessing here. i don't really see anything that would make me personally worry about it. if you are really worried you could always re-mount it and see if the temps change at...

TRUE on i7 920 stock temp, is this normal?

the temp in your room probably raised since its the afternoon. arctic silver 5 also takes a while before it works at its maximum potential. don't worry until the temps get over 80C but you shouldn't get that hot until you overclock. like i said, get a program like prime95, linx, etc. and stress...

TRUE on i7 920 stock temp, is this normal?

its fine. you don't want to go off of the idle temps anyway. see what the temps are under load using prime95 or something similar. some of the true's don't tighten all the way and require "modding" which i think just consists of sticking a dime in between a certain point.

    EVGA X58

you can probably hit 3.8 with the CM V8. that would give you the right numbers for your ram then too. there is not specific template as each cpu seems to be a little different. the guides on the evga forum are a good start and like they say you just tweak from there. if you run into trouble just...

    Overclock Help

if you turn off HT your temps will drop a decent amount. it sounds like there are few programs that utilize HT so if you don't run any of those programs it would probably be worth disabling because your temps will probably hit 80 after a few hours.

    Overclock Help

i think it seems fine. i'm not familiar with the vtt voltages tho so i can't comment on that. do you have HT on or off? those temps are fine but they will go up a little higher after a few hours of prime so be sure to keep an eye on it. i tested mine for 6 hours on prime blend but some people...

    i7 Gaming Rig, Need input

like everyone has stated you have pieced together a very nice build. i'd suggest adding an aftermarket cpu cooler just to help with your overclock and keep temps down. this xigmatek dark knight is pretty cheap and will provide decent cooling and should fit in the p182...

    Overclock Help

i guess i just don't understand gigabyte then. but multi 20x and bclk 200 is 20 x 200 = 4.0. thats a pretty high overclock. vcore of 1.45 is pretty high too. i have mine at 1.33 for a 4.0 overclock. i'm not sure about the ram setting you're saying but check what gskill says the ram voltage...

    Overclock Help

i don't know what model ram that is for sure but most of the gskill cas 8 stuff showed voltage settings of 1.6-1.65. look at your specific model and set the voltage manually to what it should be. that isn't one of the more common i7 coolers but it will get the job done. if you want 3.6 here is a...

    Overclock Help

first of all do you have an aftermaket cooler that can handle the overclock? the bclk is directly related to your ram speed. bclk x ram divider (2:6, 2:8, 2:10) = ram speed. if you set the bclk to 178 and ram divider to 2:8 then 178 x 8 = 1424. you might not get your ram exactly to 1600. the...

3k Budget Design Comp - Feedback please

well the xigmatek there isn't too expensive, and $5 off with the combo. that should be enough to get you to 3.6-3.8. a little better cooler would probably be the noctua nh-u12p but its a little more expensive. be sure to get a little tube of thermal paste too if you get the xigmatek. the noctua...

    Confused about i7 memory

with the stock fans on the noctua you should be able to get to 3.8 assuming your case has decent airflow as well. the noctua fans are suppose to be really quiet so you probably won't have to buy aftermarket fans. basically just overclock the cpu to what you want and then do the best you can with...

    Bubbles in EK-FC block?

    Confused about i7 memory

they run higher speed ram its just that you have to manually set it in the bios for most boards. the speed is calculated by the qpi(BCLK) x ram divider = ram speed. so if you have the qpi set at 160 and set the ram divider at 2:10 then the ram speed will be 160 x 10 = 1600mhz. the i7's overclock...

advice on gaming build for ~$4000

i'm not sure what cases could be used aside from the lian li p80. the thing with the classified and tri-sli plus physx is that it requires 8 expansion slots and most cases only have 7. a simple solution to that tho is just leave out the physx card. whatever you decide to go with be sure to study...

advice on gaming build for ~$4000

ignore that because the p182 can't handle it. but yeah i was talking about 3 gtx 285's in sli and then the 9800gt just for physx. you'd need a lot bigger case for that tho. i'm not positive what it takes for that resolution but also check out sli gtx 295's. another good cooler that a lot of...

advice on gaming build for ~$4000

i'd drop the i7 965 and get the 920 because you'll be able to get a 3.8ish overclock and be just fine. with that $720 savings get the evga classified motherboard and go triple sli gtx 285s + 9800gt for physx. upgrade the power supply to the enermax revolution85+ 1050W. it has a 20% off promo...

    real quick, C2D vs. i7

why are there 2 different UD3R boards listed on newegg? it seems strange that they have 2 listed with one stating sli and having a different price. not trying to start an arguement just asking because i can't say 100% that the old UD3R will sli with the new bios.

    real quick, C2D vs. i7

like i said from here on out this topic is best discussed in the general hardware. i'm not positive but i'm gonna say the first one only does crossfire and that 2nd gigabyte does crossfire and sli. they only have 4 ram slots because you use the 3 white slots for triple chanel or all the slots...

    real quick, C2D vs. i7

i can't say anything about overclocking a xfx card but i have the evga gtx 260 1255-AR and it came with software that lets you set the speeds. assuming you use a case with good airflow you should be able to get to the 666 speeds or higher without any problems.
  33. A

    real quick, C2D vs. i7

if you go with the i7 get at least 3gb of ram (they're made for triple channel) and a stock gtx 260 and overclock it. the evga gtx 260 1255-AR is easily overclockable to the xfx black speeds and it comes with the software to do it.

    Overclocked i7 920 setting

the ram divider and cpu qpi is what determines your ram speed. your qpi (bclk) is 175 and if your ram divider is 2:8 then 175x8=1400mhz.
