BigD,
Everyone needs to start somewhere. Everyone on my team (Network Administrators) started out at the Help Desk level. Me personally I did 2 years on a road tech job and then landed a Sys Admin job and have almost been at this current job for 2 years. You just need to start there and...
I have OpenDNS setup at 86 of our remote locations. You can not bypass this if you make sure your router is setup correctly. Meaning you need to intercept the DNS. Changing DNS on workstation will not work (Have Tested personally). How to below.

I had a simlar issue and here is what I did.
Cable modem went out one night. Called comcast and they couldnt see the modem. They sent a tech out and said the line was week. Since it was on the second story he said that he "didnt" have the tools to run this. He lent us a modem that would...
We are having some issues at work currently we have 3 ISP. 2 of the ISPs NAT their address to the 1st ISP address inside a FAT Pipe appliance. And then gets NATed again inside our Firewall. The reason I am posting is that when we have 3 ISP connected our traffice over ISP 2 is very slow coming...
Yes you could unless you intercept it going through the firewall and check to make sure its the ones you specified. We do not use local domains. Everyone connects back via an ssl vpn.
For the 90 remote locations yes. Has been rolled out for about a month or so. So far so good. Better then the proxy file that was hosted on our webserver that was sometimes spotty and would affect users access to our Access Gateway.
Why dont you just use OpenDNS. I know untangle does have some nice features but at work at (90+ Locations) we use OpenDNS and then at our home office we use an iPrism. Just my $0.02.
I think before you would think of passing such a bill you might want to think about removing your cell phone number and home number from your web site....

That looks good really also looking to take care of our servers. We only liketo keep them around as long as they are under a support contract (that was purchased with the box).
Yea I am running DDWRT v23 SP2 at all of my locations. This firmware is great but I have found some things that would be nice like updating multiple services at the same time without a code running at startup.
Yea we have people that like to mess with stuff. We monitor off these names so that could be an issue. I would love to do that but we really need the router to update both DNS-O-Matic and DynDNS.
Are both doing routing?
If so routing twice is never good. You probably have Router one handing out something like 192.168.xxx.xxx and router 2 is getting 192.168.xxx.xxx and handing out something like 192.168.yyy.yyy. Turn routing off on router 2 and this should fix your issue.
