I'm hoping some time after the final part of this trilogy releases, they'll release a "full trilogy" pack that combines all three titles into one package and have their level/gameplay systems consistent with each other (ie: levels/materia carry over, etc) - that way we'll get that epic full...
The current PC handhelds have made me a believer in the form factor - I'd be on board for a new high-end Shield Portable (preferably not Android based).
Here's hoping the new version of the Series X allows standard m.2 2280 SSD expansion like the PS5. For me, that's the biggest drawback against the Xbox hardware.
Not really feeling the need for a new Series X, however, if they shrink it down to Series S proportions, I might be tempted.
Just finishing up my first set of nights with my ROG and - yeah, it's effectively replaced my Steam Deck.
I got the Skull & Co grip case for it, and that rounded out the grips nicely where it's very comfortable to hold. I'd dare say this handheld has become more comfortable than the Steam...
Yeah, that would be a pretty compelling strategy. I heard rumors of Sony doing a similar strategy with the PS6. I wonder how much this would affect Nintendo, now all of a sudden MS and Sony would be stepping into their console category.
I like these handhelds, and find myself using them more often than my desktop pc/console.
I'm less excited for a Xbox handheld, just because my ROG Ally gives me my handheld gamepass fix now.
I remember really enjoying the mini-games in the original FF VII, but that was more because they were so novel (at the time). Replaying the OG today, and those mini-games are pretty dreadful.
With that said, I enjoyed the piano mini-game more than I thought I would (haven't completed the...
I'd be interested - there's a lot of Game Pass games that would work well on a handheld, and not having to worry about the Windows side of things like I do with my ROG Ally is appealing.
I'm hoping this strategy plays out well for MS and Xbox - I am surprised they didn't try out the exclusivity approach, at least for a little bit, after buying all these studios. Still, I never liked the individual closed ecosystem of these consoles, and a step in changing that is a good move...
I've got two controllers that are my faves and both are 8bitdo. Both of mine are also wireless, but there are wired versions of these controllers.
8bitdo Ultimate Controller: this is my main go to for my desktop PC. It copies the Xbox layout, feels premium, wonderful stiff analogue sticks...
It arrived Thursday, but haven't had much time to play it until today (due to work). Most of my previous two evenings with it were limited to installing Windows updates and spending a good chunk of time optimizing Windows for handheld use (based off a Youtube video by filt3rless)...
I'm sure if Nintendo's lawyers could've found something to sue PocketPair over, they would've by now - especially how quick Nintendo went after the modders who put Ash and actual Pokemon into the game.
Just watch this game become bigger than Pokemon; This could end up being another...
Feels like a modern day "Transformers vs Gobots" controversy.
I can tell you one thing, I haven't played a Pokemon game since the original, and if someone put a Palworld 'Pal' or modern Pokemon in front of me, I'd have no clue which one's which (unless one was armed with a minigun, of course.)
Ended up ordering a refurb from Best Buy for $489 CAD today. A little worried about it being a refurb, but it still has the 30 day return policy/one year warranty, and it's cheap enough that I won't feel too screwed if it does brick itself after a year.
Currently watching ROG Ally-specific...
I can't remember the model number or anything, but they were a Cambridge Soundworks set with a subwoofer. I remember teenaged me being startled by the roar that erupted from my chaingun in Starsiege Tribes the first time I used them.
Not mandatory by any means, but I'd recommend playing through the original first. There are certain story points in the remake that hit harder if you've played the original.
Not sure if the MS Store version is supported, but if you can get the 7th Heaven mod working for it - it's great. I'm playing through the Steam version and even with the graphical mods installed, I still unlock achievements (if that's your thing).
Sometimes Old Bennet will post on here - usually its about some invasive weed ugly-ing up his landscaping.
But sometimes he will post about technology and give us some insider gossip.
I'd recommend sticking around.
Yeah, feeling the temptation on picking up an Ally, Best Buy has a Geek Squad refurb Z1 Extreme for $549 CAD (still includes Best Buy's return policy). Biggest flaw with my Steam Deck is not being able to access my Gamepass games (well, without streaming them).
Picked up Final Fantasy VII (the original) during one of the recent sales.
Figured I'd try out the 7th Heaven modding scene, and, it's been great. Enhanced textures, full voice acting, new audio - really impressed how the community has modded this game and it really is a perfect fit on the Deck.
You know, I feel dirty saying this, but if you're looking at just playing Fortnite smooth and at 120fps, you might be better off with a PS5 or Xbox Series X.
Both consoles offer 120fps modes and KBM (if that's your thing). They're also both a lot cheaper than a gaming PC.
Was considering picking this up for my Steam Deck, however, after dealing with trying to get Farcray 5 New Dawn to work offline (due to the Ubi-Launcher); Forget about it.
Hoping this will lead to my beloved Sidewinder mouse returning from the dead (not seeing it on their product splash page, but this being their 'initial run' gives me hope we'll see them at some point.)
I'm curious about this device. Not in the market for one (Steam Deck is still working fine for me), but I am interested to see how Arc performs in this form factor. I've been really impressed with how Intel has been handling Arc improvements.
Some of the manufacturers release a new model...
I think playing so many 'Souls-like' style gamepad 3rd person games is what helped me adjust. Sure, the aiming isn't as precise as mouselook but the movement feels smooth to me in 3rd person whereas in a first person shooter, the aiming isn't as precise as mouselook and the movement feels clunky.
Nah, not really. I've adjusted to using a gamepad for 3rd person shooters, but first person is still KBM preferred for me.
If you have to use a console for FPS, I recommend Xbox. Their KBM support is superior to Sony.
