I appreciate the review and do find it very thorough. I however disagree with your Gold award. Money means something and the price/performance just isn't there. Makes me sad that despite how appealing this card is, the price snaps me back to reality. I hope everyone who buys it really enjoys...
I play quite a few fps games and can assure you there is a difference between 60 and 120hz in a fast paced situation. If you are playing a slower paced game the chances that you will notice are probably less.
I bought a 680 almost a year ago now and upgraded to SLI after that. Here we are 11 months later and all I can get is less performance for more money? Guess I was hoping for progression not just inflation.
On a side note I hope everyone who buys this card truly enjoys it.
I bought a 27in catleap last year and was absolutely amazed by how good it looked. The IPS color and sheer size of the resolution were amazing for all but one type of game, FPS. I was in love with the monitor until I tried to play more battlefield 3 and noticed the input lag was more than I...
Does anybody go to facebook intending to spend money on anything other than browser games?
I know my wallet has never been opened while visiting the site...
Absolutely loved the detail in this review. I have been scoping out this case for quite a while and your review answered all of my questions plus some I had not even thought of. :)
Can't wait for your future case reviews.
It is the quietest card I have owned to date. I have yet to hear the fan turn up, even after a few hours of gameplay.
Previous cards
-dual slot
XFX 5870 - central cooling fan (seemed cheap) loud
Evga gtx275 - could hear the fan turn up with some longer sittings
-single slot
4850...
I just seen that too... I have the card on backorder from launch day so hopefully its a big shipment or people will be waiting longer than the 7-15 days advertised.
I have ordered multiple things from TD and rarely had problems. I also ordered a gtx 680 and the site said that it would be 1-2 days. I called this morning and was informed that it would most likely ship the first week of April. While I cannot say that I am especially pleased with this...
That is quite the description you have going there. GTA has always had issues for me with rendering textures but the other games seem like a bigger deal. Looking back on it though the gta images seem much worse than I've ever seen. Have you tried contacting customer support? Maybe showed them...
I ran a x2 5200 a few years back and had the following cards running with it(7900gs, 8800gt, 4850). While each card offered me better performance, the jump to intel(e8400) with my 4850 offered me twice the framerate in source games(which was all I played). Looking at your current options I'd...
I've had capacitors make a high pitched noise in my system only when folding and futuremark. This was on my gtx 275 so it could be the same or it could be something else.
Its has done this throughout its entire life just to let you know.
Thanks for the quick input. I've been toying with the thought of a 5870 but just have not been able to commit. I guess I was just too spoiled by ati undercutting nvidia with the 4800 series that I got a bit ahead of myself with this one.
I'll probably start monitoring the 5870 prices a bit...
So I went ahead and started on my quest for an eyefinity setup right after the 5870 review was posted here on the [H]. I just recently found another one of my screens(were sold out forever) and now I'm finally down to the graphics card. I have 3 1080p screens and had always planned on going top...
Zc1 I understand your logic
Buying the latest and greatest is fun and all but truth be told there is a sweet spot on price/performance and you are closer to it than most of us i7 fans. Overclocking only helps make your point more valid.
True an i7 will out perform a c2q but it also cost a...
Even though it wasn't a great performer my 9550 was my first discrete card so it was obviously a huge step up in Medal of honor Allied Assualt. Still remember playing around the first time I put it in.
Quick question. I have had my i7 crunching the 1920's for the past day and a half, but am not able to monitor the amount of work units complete. Anybody have an idea about how long it should be before I have my 10 complete? I down clocked my cpu to 3.6ghz and am only seeing about 8.2k ppd out...
I thought for sure my secondary comp was gonna be my ace up the sleeve but I just noticed it has identical specs to your secondary system so only time will tell...
I was pretty content with my gtx275 folding solo but when foxtrotniner showed up on my threat list I decided to get my i7 running bigadv units to clear him off. :)
I fiddled around with the windows smp program but quickly became discouraged. Didn't realize how much easier vmplayer was until...
Kind of stalking the thread but what I think you are refering to is the voltage drop on the board which is very common. OC professionals tend to run their own wires on the back of boards to reduce voltage drop in oc competitions.
I loved this game while I was playing it on my 275 however the random game crashes in the first corner can get a little frustrating. However I recently sold my 275 and I am now using a 256mb 8800gt until I get myself a new 5 series radeon. Wow is there a world of difference, went from 1920x...
