I've had 3 dead Seagates in the last year, not a good record. My most reliable drives have been the Samsungs, and they happen to be the fastest of all the drives in their class so I am very happy with them, not even one problem in almost 3 years in Raid 0.
For those people who are proud of...
I'm waiting for Best Buy to dry up, they have these "psuedo" sales and their sale prices have been
found to be higher than internet regular prices. Most of the smaller players can go away also,
they have bad cust service and bad prices. I like most of the bigger guys because the service
is...
You gotta be kidding, the Samsungs are known to be reliable, I have a couple in Raid and they perform FLAWLESSLY, these are probably the fastest, quietest drives out in this size. Now Seagate, that's a different story as their current FAILURES are the stuff
LEGENDS are made of, every major site...
They have these on Amazon.com at this price everyday. Actually, a GTX 260 is a very good
deal, just a small overclock will compete with a 280 GTX. I do hope the 280's
come down to $250.00 or so.
Actually, the Best Buy "Geek Squad" UPS is very good, (got mine brand new off Ebay) and
Office Depot has some on clearance right now, $50.00 for a decent size UPS.
Personally, I would not waste too much money on getting an overkill UPS system, most of
them all operate the same way and...
Amazingly, the 260 benches very close to the 285. My overclocked 260 can beat a normal clocked
285 in most all benches, but the overclocks on the 285 don't seem as impressive. The 285 really
is not worth the extra money, the sweet spot appears to be the 260 at this point. If the 285
was...
Well, I've always overclocked AMD stuff, because they would let you! What also changed for
Intel was the ability to start overclocking their chips properly. (Remember how much Intel HATED
people overclocking their chips?) Now that Intel has pretty much embraced overclocking, they
don't seem...
These are pretty old, should be about $50.00 each, even then I would have to think about
it. Most of the newer drives meet or exceed the speed of these, so I really don't know
what the benefit of getting these would be? I am quickly filling up my 2TB Raid 0
storage, so I don't think these are...
Quite honestly, all these Seagate drives are major FAIL just waiting to happen. (Look up all the
problems with these, if you don't know by now) But, if you must invest in your data's demise,
at least FAIL with the Seagate 1.5TB which is always on sale for 109.00 or so.
The Samsung and...
I thinks these cards will be $250.00 in no time, Amazon.com has a BFG 280 for
$299.00 all day, free shipping.
I want to bite, but I think the 295 is my next step. My
highly overclocked 260 Benches beyond the 280, so I don't
know if moving to a 280 is going to be a major step up.
I never thought I would need anything bigger than 500gb, now I am filling up my 2TB with tons of
games, movies and "data". "Data" being 800GB's of my "Adult Movie" collection!
The shame!
Man, I would LOVE to jump on the 4850x2 deal, but there are plenty of negatives on the
card, relative power usage, noise, scaling, bad drivers, lack of decent overclocking,
and all that heat exhausting INTO your case.
Well, you don't "need" one, but ever since I've gotten mine, I have not had any problems with my computer crashing due to loosing power, and data. I have a GeekSquad UPS and it has saved the
day more than once.
Uh, you guys are smarter than to believe that this was anything other than a deliberate
attempt at subterfuge. (Nvida re-badging anyone?) Then they blame it on another
company, that is conveniently out-of-business?
True Overclockers/Gamers probably don't use Ultra stuff, so they can...
I actually like BOTH companies, and they have BOTH had their ups and downs.
I am pulling for ATI though, just to give Nvidia the well-needed opposition, or ALL
of our video cards are going to be much more than what they are now if there was no competition.
When they re badge these cards...
Re-badging is absolutely shameful as the MAJORITY of consumers will get fooled into thinking they are getting a better product, when they are getting the same tech. Nvidia is not stupid, they KNOW that sticking some different model numbers on the same old model will probably net them MILLIONS of...
Raid 0 on a couple of these is the way to go, cheap and TONS of storage, perfect for the OS!
I've always wanted a Velociraptor, but they cost too much for what they do. Raid a couple of these 1TB drives and you won't miss the Raptors at all.
I had the 750 watt version, very good unit, the sweet spot for performance and price.
Only reason I sold it was to get a little more power, but the unit never gave me a
moments problem.
Your right, but if I was a newb I would like somebody to let me know about widespread
problems before I potentially loose 1.5TB of data, would not you?
I have NO sympathy for the thread after thread with guys crying about why they lost all
their data, like the guys here, they knew the risks. . . I'll be damned if I see all the FAIL pertaining to these drives, and STILL buy one, that's just what Seagate is laughing at. "These drives we make...
People will do anything to save a buck, like buying the current winner for most problematic drive
currently on the marker bar none. These are always on sale because they have MAJOR
issues, even the firmware "fix" has been borking drives, and drives have even died
despite the fix. Yes, some...
I'm surprised people are seeing scratches or ANY signs of use, I am actually LOOKING for
any signs of use and this thing looks brand-spanking new to me, not one single smudge or scratch or dead pixel at all.
I've never, EVER had a problem with New Egg shipping. It might not be how WE would like them
to ship, but it is normally sufficient for what they are sending, UPS is probably the problem.
Please lay blame where it is supposed to be laid. I am sure New Egg is not
in the business of loosing...
Well, as far as the "card lottery" goes, I don't think there was a rhyme or reason as to why some people got cards and others did not. I see that some long time customers got cards, and also some new buyers.
I see that some early buyers got cards, and also some late comers. I do think that if...
I'm running these in Raid 0, absolutely fabulous drives, I can't even hear them and they run cooler
than any other drive in my system by about 5 degrees. Look at the reviews online, nothing but
positives.
In what Bizzaro world is the CONSUMER at fault for Buy.com selling MULTIPLE brands of cards at MULTIPLE venues that are IN STOCK at the time of purchase, and not fulfilling the order? Some of you guys say it's OUR FAULT for believing that Buy.com is selling what they SAY they are selling?
Let...
