Require VPN Server -> what's the "most reliable" wireless router for DD-WRT?

While I did get it physically running, while it is running I can't connect tot he server since it's using the shared PIA connection... so the IP is wrong. From my research, it's not possible =(...

    Wireless Repeater

Thanks. So, the wireless repeaters cut bandwidth in half for the entire wireless network, or just when you get onto the repeater's waves instead of the original router? It's just for my backyard, and really it's just to control the stereo and audio devices inside, so I really don't mind...

    Wireless Repeater

I have an EasyTomato setup and it works flawlessly in the house, it's awesome. However, by the time you reach my back yard (my router is in the front of the house), I no longer get a wireless signal. I'm wondering what the cheapest wireless repeater I can build will be. DD-WRT offers an...

    Keyboard: Backlit, wireless, touchpad

I've used this one. The trackball was horrible, so much so that I thought I had a lemon. I RMAed it and the replacement was just as bad. It was jumpy mouse movement and sometimes would not work at all... I even used their own USB adapter, no better.

    Keyboard: Backlit, wireless, touchpad

    This one? http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-JQD-00001-SideWinder-X4-Keyboard/dp/B002ZV51DI That doesn't have a trackpad :(

And that touchpad does it for you? It looks like my thumb would barely be able to move on there, haha.

    Keyboard: Backlit, wireless, touchpad

Medium to full size, not tiny if I can help it. I've used the dinovo mini, it was miserable (both in terms of size, but mainly in terms of reponsiveness, connectivity, and "the worst ever" touchpad), haha.

    Keyboard: Backlit, wireless, touchpad

I can't understand, for the life of me, why there are no quality keyboards that have a touch pad, are wireless, and come with a backlight for lit keys. I've searched endlessly and I can't find ANY that meet those requirements and have even mediocre reviews! Am I missing something here?

Require VPN Server -> what's the "most reliable" wireless router for DD-WRT?

easytomato looks just as good as DD-WRT for most features, is there anything really missing? I can hardly tell, it looks like most is covered.

Thanks Mackintire. I never have seen EasyTomato. I actually have been wanting to get the N16... so this is going to be perfect. THANK YOU!

Require VPN Server -> what's the "most reliable" wireless router for DD-WRT?

I'm looking for a wireless-N router (dual band not necessary, but I'll take it). I need to have VPN Server capability, so I can VPN into my home network. I also need to be able to use IPSec or OpenVPN, or at the least PPTP to route my network traffic through PrivateInternetAccess.com's VPN...

Deck my brother out, $3k (ish) budget

My brother is moving into a new house in a few weeks. I'm going to pick out all of the following for him. He has a lot of Cat5e and speaker wire pre-run in the home, FYI! Here's where I'm at, I need all of the following, and I've got a start on some ideas... $3,000 budget, give or take. Do...

LifeHacker: Create a Kickass, Seamless, Play-Everything Media Center: Complete Guide

Tired of FreeNAS - other options?

Tired of FreeNAS - other options?

Preachin to the choir right here, ha. I basically agree with all of this. I guess I'm sticking with FreeNAS for the time being. But My end goal is to get Plex server running, for local play and transcoding elsewhere. Probably will get a Mac Mini for that, so maybe I'm fine with FreeNAS...

Tired of FreeNAS - other options?

Sounds pretty involved though. Can't WHS do RAID5 though? That is good enough for me, as far as data protection goes. I know ZFS is worlds above it, but in the end it will do the same thing....

Tired of FreeNAS - other options?

I am tired with FreeNAS bugs and putting my data at risk, it has been taking too much to manage something that I want to be able to put more faith in... Can anyone share some experiences with other NAS software? (paid is fine with me, if it works better - but I want to continue using my NAS...

    New features in Audio Receivers

    New features in Audio Receivers

Hey all... it's been a while since I've needed a new audio receiver (read: 8 years or so). Now that I'm shopping around, I see a LOT of new features that look interesting, but I'm wondering what's actually useful for people? For example, there's the receivers that have airplay (i think...)...

Xbox 360 to organize and stream content from NAS?

Xbox 360 to organize and stream content from NAS?

I have a NAS (freeNAS) with all of my movies/tv shows/etc... complete with GOOD meta data. I can't for the life of me figure out if the Xbox 360 can look at FreeNAS and use all the metadata to watch everything natively WITH MetaData. I know WMP will stram the content, but how about meta data...

Seriously debating Mac Mini or D-Link Boxee Box instead of my custom built HTPC

Have you ever tried Plex? Some people swear it's better than Boxee - would love to hear a real Boxee user's input on that. Also, boxee can be installed on a mac mini (as can plex) - whereas I would assume getting plex onto a boxee box is probably more difficult.... but I'm not sure what the...

Seriously debating Mac Mini or D-Link Boxee Box instead of my custom built HTPC

With 7MC: Subtitles have never worked, and I can never select audio in my files. Many times it will auto-pick the incorrect audio/subs automatically (forcing me to quit and use VLC). In the end, the endless catering to codecs and plugins is just starting to get to me.

Seriously debating Mac Mini or D-Link Boxee Box instead of my custom built HTPC

I have an HTPC that I custom built a few years ago. The real issues are: I'm tired of Media Portal and the amount of time I spend making it work right. I'm tired of Windows 7 MCE + Media Browser and the amount of time I spend making it work right. I am tired of the huge PC Desktop Box...

Itunes library located on NAS, but it's SO slow!

It's a FreeNAS 8 box that I built, with help from the [H] actually. Hardware is an i3 with 4GB of ram, and 2 gigabit NICs. It's hard to tell transfer rates, but moving over some MP3s I average around 3.5 MBps. The router is a comcast router, pretty beefed up (meant for use with TV and other...

Itunes library located on NAS, but it's SO slow!

So, I've set up my iTunes library to be located on my NAS (network attached storage). It's plugged into a gigabit switch, as is my home PC. The library is big, about 77GB - which is why I don't want to keep it locally in the first place. Anyhow, anytime I add music to itunes, it is SO SO...
