I'm not sure when exactly target temperature control dissappeared, I hadn't really gamed for a while and only going through everything after setting up a crossfire.
Gigabyte has discontinued its Windforce R9 290s, so I've bought a used R9 290X instead.
What will happen? Will the 290X run as a 290s in crossfire mode? Because it's same manufacturer and same factory overclock, gpu/mem cycles are exactly the same, only more stream processors in the 290x.
I...
See picture for what I mean. Basically I want to stop as much hot air from flowing up in a crossfire setup as possible.
I don't know if there's anything I could make the fan stable?
Presumably I could blue tac it to the plastic cover behind, but don't fans need some space behind it to...
I've current preordered an AOC U3477PQU from Amazon at a decent price of £525. Which is at least £100 cheaper than the next cheapest flat 34" from LGC and a curved Dell U3415W. Now as I've only preordered and Amazon says it will take another 2 weeks to come back in stock, I can still change my...
I just bought a BenQ BL3200PT from ebay, which is 2560x1440.
Unfortunately it has a few dead / stuck pixels at least 3. Think they're dead because it's not stuck on a colour. I'm currently verifying by using w/b/r/g/b solid colour pictures that fill in the whole screen.
Now I can get away...
I have bought an Corsair 800D computer case for a new build as I sold the rig in my sig a while ago. I'm going to air cool it, NOT watercooling due to cost.
I am concerned about the airflow around the GPUs, because I intend to have Xfire R9 290s, I'm probably going to buy 2 of the Gigabyte...
External monitor is linked to laptop by HDMI. There is crackling sound coming from my external monitor, it doesn't sound like it's from the speakers, but from the screen electronics themselves. This happens more when I scroll.
This problem doesn't occur when laptop uses battery.
So I then...
I'm thinking of getting an air compressors off ebay? something like http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/AIRBRUSH-KIT-AIRBRUSH-COMPRESSOR-AIR-BRUSH-COMPRESSOR-/270754591019?pt=UK_Crafts_DrawingSupplies_EH&hash=item3f0a3b312b&clk_rvr_id=235326677869&afsrc=1
What do you guys think, anyone used something like...
I set and fine tuned an overclocking profile about 2 months ago, but now I find it has become less stable. Eg overnight folding was fine, now it crashes/
I don't understand, it is "electromigration"? Have I damaged my CPU or mobo?
While there's a lot of discussion about maximum vcore for the Sandybridge CPUs, there seems to be less said about the VCCIO and VCCSA settings for overclocking. While some will say they make no difference, I have found they do, upping the VCCIO (to 1.09v) stablised my overclock without further...
I have a i5-2500k @ 4.5ghz. Currently doing a 6701 work unit and the TPF is 7:42. My TPF on the other work units such as 6025/25/50/51/52/55/58/63/65/68 have all been around 3 minutes.
More than halving the speed is a massive difference. I thought maybe my CPU was damaged from overclocking...
I think a poll would be nice on this. Sure anyone can make suicide runs on a high overclock, but what you ultimately settle on will be mostly based on the quality of your chip. As you go over the "wall" it hits it becomes uneconomical to oc further, and staying at a lower speed would be more...
I built my first ever rig a month ago (in sig) but since I have a see through window, I can see for example there are some dust build up in the case, especially the cpu cooler. This is despite me cleaning out the case filters every so often.
Can I take a hoover, and wave it around inside my...
My current overclock is with an i5-2500k with a MSI GD65 motherboard.
4.5ghz
Vcore 1.352v in CPU Z at max
Vdroop Enabled.
BCLK 100
(I've just disabled Spectrum Spread, but have not tested whether that makes a difference to stability)
Now it's mostly stable, but will crash if I leave it...
All I can find under "Sensors" is Voltage Values: +5v standby 0.26v.
And I can't find reference to cpu core elsewhere in Everest either, what am I missing?
Say at my current overclock, if I leave Folding@Home running when I go to bed, it BSOD sometime in the middle of the night. But there is no problem in everyday use, and I didn't have a problem with running Prime95 blend before and passes 15 loops on Intel Burner. So ot means it's not 100% stable...
Is it possible? Often my GPU can be just as underutilised as my CPU, and since my case cooling is good, I won't need to worry about constant heavy workload.
I unlocked my HD6950 via modded bios with shader and voltage options. Which I then overclocked to 900mhz/1350mhz.
What I have found is that while the card will stay stable at 70C in Haven, Furmark etc. In some games it starts to crash at lower temperatures. For example DoW2, Chao rising, the...
What is a safe 24/7 maximum temperature for a Sandybridge CPU? I have an i5-2500k.
I guess when I ask that question, I mean no core exceeding that temperature.
I have 4 cores, and the temps are uneven. A typical max temp under 100% load at current overclock would be: 48, 52, 59, 53 (nearly 10C...
First of all, my rig will BSOD within almost 3 hours of me going to sleep. That's an estimate from how much of the next WU has been completed. I find it strange that for 2 days now, I've been folding 7 hours before I go to bed, then both nights, the rig will BSOD soon after I switch off the pc...
My 1 month old system is in sig. I figured it's time to put it to some good use. But I have some questions.
1) I don't want to leave my PC on 24/7, don't like leaving stuff on when I'm not physically there.
2) I'm also unsure if I start, I can stop, or will I need to keep my PC on for a set...
Say I install a game to D drive, lets say Crysis Warhead. But it still saves data to C:Users\moi\My Documents\My Games\ Crysis Warhead.
How can I stop this?
ACHI is on in BIOS, TRIM enabled. 62gb out of 83 usable GB free. 1 month old, powered on 102 times, data read = 384gb, written = 128gb, health = 100%.
I am concerned that I am not getting the benchmarks @...
I have Corsair Vengeance 8gb 9-9-9-24 2T 1600mhz 1.50v. Too much of a cheapskate to spend an extra $30 to get the 8-8-8-24 model from Corsair which I presume has better quality chips..
I currently have my i5-2500k stable at 1.3v @ 4.5ghz (bus speed 99.8mhz).
So should I now try and...
I have settled on a 4.6ghz, 1.352v 2500k Sandybridge. Wanting to start work on overclocking, or reduce timing of my Corsair Vengeance 8gb 9-9-9-24 2T 1600mhz 1.50v.
Will changing the RAM affect the stability of my CPU overclocking? And if there is an effect, what? Thanks
I've only been able to overclock it to 860mhz core and 1340mhz memory with unlocked shaders. That really dissappoints me because I felt like I should have been able to push it to stock HD6970 settings (880mhz & 1350mhz) or more when I hear some people getting 900mhz/1400mhz out of their HD6950s...
I've currently installed OCCT, Prime95 & IntelBurn Test.
Basically I seem to BSOD in OCCT after 10-15mins, while I run Prime95 for an hour say absolutely fine, I also pass the IntelBurn Test on "high" ok. (i5-2500k, msi gd65, 4.4ghz, 1.285v)
Which of these programs would you trust more?
I have a SSD as my OS drive, unfortunately I want to play Crysis Warhead and it won't let me select to install onto another drive.
Is writing a big program onto my SSD going to make it die a little bit more? Also I usually dont' keep shooter games installed for long, I just want to play it...
I want to push my flashed HD6950 to at least 880mhz. But CCC won't let me. How are you guys doing it?
Also what should the memory clock be at for overclocked hd6950s?
There's loads of threads on what monitor to buy and stuff, but I was wondering, after you've bought your $$$ monitor, do you calibrate it? Ie make sure it's colour, whitepoint is accurate and optimised contrast etc.
Personally I calibrate my Dell 2709W with Spyder 3 sensor and ColourEyes...
It shows on CPU-Z as 99.8mhz.
However in my BIOs the option where I change CPU baseclock is at shows it to be either 100mhz in MSI Control Centre or 10000 in the BIOs.
It probably doesn't affect much in the scheme of things but I was wondering why this is happening. Thx
I have i5-2500k, using Real Temp 360 I can see there is a maxium of 8C difference between the hottest core and the coolest.
Since I am very experienced at this, is it normal? Will the hottest core be essential the bottleneck for overclocking limits? Thanks
OK, so I set CPU voltage to 1.25v and anything higher than 4.2ghz will not load up windows for 10 seconds.
45 multiplier resulted in flashing cursor before windows
44 multiplier resulted in flashing cursor before windows
43 multipliers loaded windows after telling it to "boot normally". 10...
Obvious I have found a guide and while I could blindly follow every setting on there, I'd like a little bit more info in case something goes wrong.
http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/cpus/2011/01/07/how-to-overclock-the-intel-core-i5-2500k/5
Now my motherboard is a MSI GD65, as opposed to the 55...
Sorry if this sounds stupid but it's the first time I've put together a computer.
I have 2 x 4gb of Corsair Vengeance DDR3 ram, rated at 1600mhz, it's paired with a i5-2500k processor (which is running at half the speed it's specified at) on a MSI GD65 motherboard running Windows 7 Ultimate...
Sorry if this is going to sound stupid but it's the first time I've put together a computer.
On CPU-Z it shows my i5-2500k running at 1.2v and at a core speed of 1596.4 Mhz.
I thought it should be running at 3.3 ghz at least cos that's the specification of the chip? (incidentally, my ram is...
I have just set up a new rig running a HD6950, basically
1) CPU Z only detects ATI HD6900 series, every other option is blank and greyed out.
2) Dxdiag also detected ATI HD6900 series, however the available memory is 1007 mb
3) The system information in Catalyst gives the correct memory of...
