Okay. I found a tool in the video card software that allows you to resize Windows.
It even fixed my native icon problem automatically.
Sorry for asking before playing with settings. Please close this post. Thank you!
Greetings
On my right, is an LG 40" 1080. And in the center is my primary
Dell 30" 2560x1600 monitor.
My main issues:
1) The boarders on the LG 40in. screen, that's 1080, runs off the edges
in full window mode. It is set to 1920x1080. Why?
2) On my primary Dell 2560x1600, I cant move...
When I use to run AMD it was always advised to uninstall old drivers when
acquiring new ones.
Okay then, I wont worry about cleaning old drivers then. Thanks! -keith
Anyone use this for their updates or should I do them manually?
I have Asus Strix. I usually like to wait and see how new drivers
do before I install them.
Does this auto install service delete old drivers or do I need to
wipe them manually?
Thanks. -keith
Even the so called cherry chips? Never know until one at least tries.
But realistically, 4.6 is a good long haul setting. I doubt there is any
major speed improvement from 0.2GHz. Thanks. -keith
Not quite sure where you are going with your comment but I did
just realize I'm running a 32 bit version 0f P95 v285.
Would like to push to 4800 but dont see a real practical reason to
over the long haul. I would like to try some real world test benching.
LOL...I haven't put this Strix 980 to...
Just finish this build and want to know where I stand.
Details in my sig. I'm kinda let down by the high temps
with a quad Fessor rad with 4 cougar fans. Room temp
is 21c. I should try lower volts? Mind you though this is
only a 20 minute Prime95. 1.250v
After installing NVidia software/drivers and E11, things started getting buggy.
Like another program opening when clicking another one. Keyboard doing
wrong commands and such. Weird stuff.
Thanks.
Greetings.
Is there any guidelines to software installation? Mainly optimum loading order?
I have new Maximus VII Hero. Does a person need to install the disk software
in the order on the disk? Windows wont obviously let me install completely
because there are no net drivers. So I just...
Asus cards doesn't need their down drivers...hmm. So their OC'ing is a
'build in the software' if you will?
Intrigued that other manufactures software and drivers all work for the
same main manufacture i.e. NVidia.
Now I find this out. Geez. I probably should get a driver cleaner and to it correctly.
Okay, thanks guys.
BTW...why does Asus even offer a driver then? Go figure.
Just bought the Strix GTX 980 and went straight to the Asus web sight and
downloaded the latest driver and skipped the disk driver. Is there something
else on the disk in the driver section I'm missing, because when I click onto
GeForce Experience I get a fail to open warning? Cant find the...
Greetings.
Just did a new install of W7U on a brand new Maximus VII Hero.
I get this (ATKEX_cmd.exe) has stopped working prompt upon
start up. Exactly 4 of them. It seems to be something to do
with the chipsets sound device. In recollection, I did install
some of the software out of...
Okay, apparently the cpu multiplier is the only setting that wont show in the bios anywhere.
An OS must be installed to see this number. When I get home later I'll go ahead and install
everything and consider it a go. Thanks.
Greetings. Yes, I know to leave the BCLK alone and to only OC with the cpu multiplier.
But thanks.
Stress test you say? As of now I'm just benching and I have no OS or Hd'S installed.
Not sure why that would make a difference because I can run lower multiplier #'s,
and even change the cpu...
Greetings.
I have a question about the Hero OC. I just purchased the new Hero,
the 4970K, 32gigs of GSkill ram, and the Samsung 850 Pro SSD.
I'm of a coarse doing a bench test before I install into my case.
So far things look good. All 32 gigs are posting. I don't have the
SSD...
Greetings. Doing a new build. Will be getting the max ammount of memory
this board claims to support...32 gigs of ram. Most likely going with
HyperX 1600MHz. Unless you disagree. AND using a wet 4790K.
So...Will this chipset support this ammount of ram at that frequency?
Please tell me...

Nothing jolted. All I did was flash. Everything was great uptill the flash.
Oh well, time to ditch this old hardware and update. I am looking forward
to a new build anyway. This would be a different story if this was a newer
build. I need/want something with more ram and an SSD anyway...
Yeap, cleared CMOS already and later I pulled the GPU to try onboard video. Nothing.
Got me thinking. Why would a person need to update a bios on such an old system if
everything works fine. Like I said, lessoned well learned. Aint broke don't fix it.
Thanks for the quick reply and the link. In my siuation my video card is a single x2, not two
seperate cards. Even trying to use the on board video it wont work. I'm telling you something
went terribly wrong. Before my system crashed, from what I could make out from the monitor
looked like...
Greetings.
Should have left well enough alone. Tried flashing my 4870x2 bios
and now I have a complete shutdown on my system. The ATI flash
tool I use wouldn't take the latest version. I went down the list thinking
maybe you have to flash in a progressive manner. I did get it to flash...
Thanks Tsumi. Good info. Here are my stable choices.
3600MHz core speed with 1600MHz memory 2:1 ratio
or
4000MHz core speed with 890MHz memory 1:1 ratio
Best I can do. Unless I could push my vCore higher.
Temps are 34c idle @ v1.320. I would hope this
4x120 rad...
Speaking of which. Where do you feel the bottleneck is with modern
desktop systems now days? Obviously when I built my set up it was
the FSB.
Maybe the time is closer than I imagined on a new build. Suppose
my chipset and cpu is that out dated. I play FNV moderately modded.
I would...
I've been running this build since the gen 1 REX came out, with
2x2gig sticks of HperX. My profile is utd. At that time 4gig sticks
weren't available, so I used 2x2gigs @1600MHz. Now that RAM
is much cheaper and software writers are getting sloppy, 8 gigs
would work much smoother I'm sure...
My current build is about 5 years old now and at the time it was the best
of the best, and now I'm ready to build again. I've been tossing around the
idea of building again with the focus on a OCZ RevoDrive PCI-Express SSD.
I want to boot from it and run my OS. I game a little, run Photoshop...
